Ive just got to say I'm just so happy to be a red. Last night showed the quality of our squad as although the score line didn't show it we battered Southampton. I remember one of Klopp first FA cup teams he put out and basically it was a bunch of youngsters and it was evident many of them would not make the Liverpool grade. What a contrast to now. Also I don't expect Man City to drop points against Villa but you just never know and it does put the pressure back on them now. Finally and I'm not going to make excuses as I tend to think decisions even themselves out over the season but when you think of that 1 point gap what was the worst decision/ s against us and for Man City would you say happened over the season. For me it was probably the Spurs away game when Kane should have gone and we had a stonewall penalty when Jota got wiped out and the ref said he waited to be fouled. For Man City the penalty that never was against Everton and the blatant Rodri arm. Keep up the great work guys and let's just enjoy being a red.

Rather than focus on decisions that aren't in our hands, i'd suggest we look to some of our abject performances such as West Ham away, Leicester away, Spurs at home, City away, Chelsea at home etc. Or even the early season games when we threw away leads against Brighton and Brentford.

A wise man once said to me that every problem can be solved with 2 question. The first; are you worried about it? The second; can you do anything about it?
If the answer to either question is no, stop worrying about it. If the answer to both questions is yes, do something about it.

Klopp can't change the PGMOL and it's poor standards/ consistency. But he can make sure we don't have 5 or 6 off days next season. If we get beaten by a better team on the day, cool. What we need to do next season is make sure we don't drop points becausevwe weren't at the races. Pep's raised the bar. It doesn't matter how much money he spent to do so because the fact is he just has. Only way to be sure of the title is to go and hit a points total very close to 100 and worrying about games where we were robbed by a bad decision is not something anybody associated with Liverpool can affect.

Cannot disagree with that Jgrant39. But keep in mind we haven't beaten City in 2 seasons in the league. If we had beat City just once this season we would be champions come Sunday in all likely hood. Poor decisions and other teams not putting up a fight against them are one thing, especially if we do a job on City and win, but when we haven't beaten them for a couple of seasons, the equation is simple. And you wouldn't have to reflect on decisions that could have swung it our way.

Whatever happens in the next two games, what we have achieved this season is beyond remarkable. Yes, we can look back on some moments, performances and decisions but to take the possibility of a quadruple down to the last two games with AFCON and a C.V. outbreak in the middle of the season is quite simply unbelievable from Klopp and the entire staff. In particular, the medical team have to take a huge slice of credit with players that we had written off as unreliable. Schlumberger could well be the signing of the season for us.

It does look like the PL is City's now and fair play to them, they have responded to our challenge with their own impressive run of results to keep us at bay. The best bit is that they know we are not going anywhere.

Now is not the time to pick holes in the season. Let's get on with the next biggest game of the season - Wolves at home. Then onto a little matter in Paris.

Yep, was at that game and we were cruising at 2-0 and looked like we'd hammer them. Became complacent and let them back into it. Had we gone on to win then the title would be in our hands.

Not sure we can blame outside influences.

Assuming everyone’s fit what’s their teams for the next two games.

Do we go full strength v Wolves and then again Madrid?

Do we give Bobby more minutes v Wolves for match fitness?

Do we try and play Jota back into scoring form v wolves?

Do any squad players from last night keep their place v Wolves allowing players a longer rest for CL?

Do we play Matip and Konate again to give them a straight shoot out for a final place?

Do we play Milner and Origi on what could be their final ever league (or just final) games for LFC?

I think of course you can be blameful of some outside influences. we can look at games where we were below par but EVERY team has a few offdays and when we are finishing with 90 plus points for the 3rd time in 4 seasons that's nitpicking. Things like deflections and tight offsides can and usually do even out over a season but some decisions like the Everton handball should NEVER happen in the age of VAR! I would also include the Wolves shoulder-ball in that aswell. Ultimately if we lose the league fair play to City its not their faults but i will certainly remember decisions like them two.

I think if Diaz had been here all season we wouldn’t have dropped some of those points.

We almost didn’t get him in January either. Thank god Spurs jumped the gun on our shiny new toy.

pretty hard to criticize this team. I mean sure we can bemoan a draw here and there. But the performance levels are so consistently high that they are making extraordinary seasons seem normal. What us and City are doing is not normal. the abject performances we have had that have led to dropped points, same as City, as exceptions to the rule but alas they may ultimately prove to be the difference. In this case tho I find it hard to really fault anyone. Us and City are about as close as what perfection looks like. And it almost requires perfection for either to get the better of the other. it is really outstanding.

I wasn't criticising our players at all. I was simply stating a fact that City have raised the bar with regards to the points needed to win the league now. Our points total is incredible and if we win the last game it will have been enough to win the league in 25 out of 30 Premier League seasons. Most of the seasons it wouldn't have been were tallies set by Klopp's Liverpool or Pep's City. It's more a reality check that City are incredible than a criticism of the current Liverpool side. For me it's been a great season regardless of how our final 2 games go.

JH, that would be 1 point so whatever bar is being raised by City, we are right behind them. In fact, I think we have raised the bar even higher with what we have achieved already title or not. The squad is still on going into the last game of the season. City can call me back when they have reached that bar.

I don’t agree that decisions even themselves out over a season and I think we have every right to feel aggrieved by the penalty given to City at 0-0 against wolves (city won 1-0) and the penalty not given to Everton (city won 1-0).
I have no issue with contentious decisions, they can go either way but those 2 in particular were so bad they had me thinking bribery and corruption.
Forget our bad days, city drew against West Ham and Southampton amongst others and lost to Spurs twice. They should’ve also drawn against Wolves and Everton. No team can be perfect for 38 league games in a season.
We are 1 point behind, have won 2 cups and are in the final of a 3rd in spite of the extremely dubious decisions that have enabled them to win some games.
We’ve been the best team by far over a season and if there’s any justice Pipco will bang in an equaliser in injury time to make up for the ‘bad back’ days with us.
Not only did we royally pull Barca’s pants down but they then sold him to Villa for nearly a tenth of the price and he subsequently scores the goal to win us the league.
What is it Klopp said that time? Oh yeah, Boom!

Spot on, Beckers. The VAR was introduced to stop the whole "things even out overall" rubbish that was in vogue in an era when we had no technology cos teams were getting robbed blind; VAR is there to give decisions the teams have actually earned.

Now we do have the tech. so you cannot use the same tired rhetoric when there were dreadful decisions with no tech. in use as a valid reason, to explain away why the same rubbish is still happening now as when the tech. is there and being used. Ain't having it and will NEVER accept such lame excuse to explain incompetence and bias within the system.
