Although I am happy with how the season went for us, I do have to say I am quite worried for the upcoming season. City have just about won the league with basically no striker and now they have signed haaland who is without a doubt one of the best strikers right now that in itself makes a big difference on the points city could get next season. LFC need to pull something big out the bag now and I don’t think a signing like carvalho is it, great player but not a game changer. We need to offload ox, Jota and unfortunatly Bobby. 3 big signings are needed this summer I feel because we are running our players into the ground whereas city can rotate at anytime. don’t mean to sound negative but it is something to think about.

firstly don't be worried about something you have no control over.

Secondly have faith in Klopp, his staff and the players.

Lastly can we put this myth to bed about city playing the season without a striker? last time i looked Sterling and Jesus were strikers, its not like they were defenders doing a emergency job.

Next thing the media will be telling us city won the league on a shoestring budget.

The last time we lost the title by a point we roared back the following season as well as winning big ears for a 6th time.
History will repeat itself when we win number 7 on saturday.

From doubters to believers- keep the faith.

And so it begins. Season isn’t even over and the doom mongering is already here. You do realise we currently have a deeper squad than City, right? If a handful of players leave then they will be replaced. Carvalho is one. I imagine another midfielder and a right back will be the minimum, with a forward coming in if any of the front three leave, which i’m not sure they will.

Why worry? We have a number 7 to look forward to.

@KopEnd1 there’s still the little matter of the CL Final to go this.

We’ve played 34 games in 2022 since January 3rd - we’ve won 28, drawn 5 and lost 1.

We and City entered 4 competitions and we could win that one 3 - 1 on Saturday.

We have come the closest of ANY English team EVER to the quadruple.

Of course we need to improve but it has nothing to do with City. We played them 3 times this season, drew 2 and won 1.

Our level of performance improved by ver the course of the season except the last half dozen games where the emphasis has changed from flowing football to stubbornness and determination not to lose, primarily due to fatigue. If we’d been at the levels in the first half of the season that we were in the second half I suspect we’d have won the quadruple although obviously I can’t prove that.

I think we are getting better though and with JK in charge for another 4 years I don’t think here is much concern that we won’t get better.

One thing I would say … according to press reports at the time Naby Keita cost £ 52.75 m whilst Luis Diaz price was reportedly an initial £ 37m and Thiago was reportedly £ 27 … ‘big’ signings doesn’t necessarily mean ‘expensive’ signings.

I completely understand what everyone has said, I think it’s more I just have a strong dislike for city and their fans and I don’t rate pep fraudiola highly as a manager either. a club like city that has 0 history but yet seem to have the loudest mouths can’t stand em. anyways rant over and I’ll put the faith in klopp and the players. Let’s grab this 7th champions league and show why we are the best in the world YNWA.

Again @KopEnd1, it’s fair enough to dislike teams / clubs but that doesn’t mean they aren’t skilled or very good at what they do.

We need to appreciate and understand what they are good at to be able to match or be better than them.

On a completely different matter I was delighted to read yesterday that ten Hag really rates Maguire and sees him as part of his plans for United 😁😁. Seems like United might still be a couple of managers away from being a threat in the Europa League ….

I’m with King Kenny here it’s nonsense City won the league without strikers. Jesus is a very competent striker as good as Jota for me and then city have plenty of attacking/ forward players just like us. Salah and Mane aren’t number 9s either. They chose to sell Ferran Torres who seemed like a great prospect. The problem city have now is having to play Haaland all the time to keep him happy and play the rest of Sterling, Silva, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Gundongen. Foden, Grealish enough to keep them happy and also make space to develop any youth players coming through. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great problem to have but doesn’t mean unrest won’t be caused. I always trust klopp in the transfer windows no matter how slow it looks at times. Most importantly first though before we worry about next season is Saturday night. We walk away with a treble and 92 points and that’s a hell of a season and will have plenty of clubs worrying about us next season.

Agree with KK7 - this myth about City winning the PL despite not having a striker is utterly ridiculous.

I will be curious to see Guardiola attempt to integrate a striker like Haaland into his system. They will have to sacrifice some ball retention (that enables them to literally pin oppositions into their own 18 yard boxes) and we've seen what happens when opposition have a bit more of the ball against them.

A general point, despite fans braying for goalscoring strikers, very few teams in the PL have a classic goalscoring no9 nowadays. Even Kane and Lacazette have adapted their games now. Ings, Lukaku, Jimenez, Vardy etc haven't hit the numbers this season. We're in the age of wide forwards putting up the numbers.

Will Haaland be a renaissance for goalscoring no9s in the PL or will it be a Grealish-type indulgence?

I actually think Haaland might cause an issue for City next season. Not that he’s not a good player but he’s a type of player that they haven’t had since Pep arrived so they’ll have to change the way they play to accommodate him.
Remember last summer when Chelsea had signed ‘the missing piece’ in Lukaku? How did that work out for them? Having just won the CL (and beating City in the final) they went backwards fast!
Don’t worry Jurgen and the boys have got this.
