Ed001, what do you make of our midfield situation. I think we're perfectly fine going into next season with what we have. Fabinho needed cover but it is unlikely or unexpected that he would be injured or miss too many games next year. We have Henderson who can drop into that position if needed. It's not Ideal but I feel we have enough especially with jones, elliot and csrvalho as option aswell to ease pressure there. I just think it's best to wait until maybe next year to get a bellingham and rejuvenate the middle. What do you think?

{Ed001's Note - Bellingham is not a deep-lying midfielder, so we still need one no matter what.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you still choose him if we could get anyone Ed? If not him, then who? Rice maybe?

Getting Bellingham would be great but i don’t think we can afford to wait another year, our midfield was a killer for us in many games last season, either through fatigue or lack of quality *cough* Keita *cough*.

I think it’s absolutely imperative we get another body through the door. Is this Sangare any good? Shame that Bissouma is probably a total muppet.

{Ed001's Note - Bellingham is quality but we need a midfielder that can cover for Fabs, which isn't him. Rice would be a dream, but not a chance it will happen. I have not seen a lot of Sangare but he looked decent when I did.}

Said it before; we should look at Ruben Neves.

Proven top quality Premier League player.

4-2-3-1 With Declan Rice on the right hand side of the two would be perfection. Defensively sound so would allow Trent to bomb forward without getting caught out on the counter. Plus Declan is very good at bringing the ball forward from a defensive starting position, alongside being able to spray a pass. Unfortunately West Ham’s asking price is ridiculous.

We're not going to get Rice.

Unless we order a Chinese takeaway.
Even with selling players to make up the cash, that's a massive outlay on 2 players.
With Ali and VVD being the notable exceptions FSG aren't exactly noted for paying headline making prices for players. And those 2 were funded by the Coutinho sale.
Nice dream, but that's all it is.

Maybe play Gomez konate vvd, push Trent and Robb further forward to supply the front three of Diaz, Núñez Salah there have really good options just a thought.

Rigsby. Of course we ain’t getting him. Unless we have the guy from Ozark handling our finances. Would be more than happy with Bissouma - granted he is found innocent.

You lot must see something I don’t in Declan. Thank god we can’t afford him, Stuart Downing all over again.

12 Jun 2022 22:50:26
Rice is a very good player. I can't see how you can compare him with Downing.

13 Jun 2022 02:10:59
I wasn’t convinced by Rice until this season - not that he was a bad player, rather that his ceiling was perhaps overstated. He’s top class.

{Ed001's Note - brilliant player but sadly I think he will be the replacement for Fernandinho.}

13 Jun 2022 07:42:33
Could Phillips from Leeds be a good buy Ed. If Rice went to City they wouldn't get Phillips as well would they, so he would be an option?

{Ed001's Note - too many injury problems.}

I would go in for Ruben Neves if Barcelona can't get him. Am sure he'd love to join us and fight for trophies instead of a top 10 finish.
