Been a while since i posted, but i feel abit worried when i keep reading everywhere that Klopp won't look for a midfield addition this summer? what's you guys thought on that? or do any of you think he still will try to add one? Milner, Keita, oxlade, jones ain't good enough if we will go head to head against City, well that's my thoughts and Hendo, Fabinho, Thiago have their injury worried. Hopefully Elliott will step up and Carvalho will surprise me even tho i think they both need one more year. Sorry if this is already dealt with, just abit worried on that spot, beside that i think we are set. YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

Curtis Jones is 21 years old and is more than good enough. Does my head in people don't see the quality he posses. A top class player in the making with great work ethic to boot. Hope he and or Elliot make Keita get 0 minutes this season.

Not signing a midfielder would be a mistake, simple as that. Our midfield is aging, slowing, injury-prone and lacking in technical quality and incisiveness. Further, aside from Ox, not one of our midfield can consistently provide a decent long-range goal threat, and even Ox is not as capable as he was at it. We’ll see how Carvalho improves both these issues.
Though I believe in Elliott as a future star, I’m yet to be fully convinced by Jones though he clearly has many good qualities. Keita and Ox simply HAVE to be sold this summer, and Henderson’s time as a starter should be under serious threat by a new addition to the team.

The majority might not like Naby but if Klopp picks him the least we could do is support him. Hating on him 24/ 7 is hardly in line with being the self proclaimed best fans in the world and our famous YNWA.

For me it wouldn’t bother me if we sold him and replaced him with better but whilst he’s here and if he gets picked then he gets the same support as the rest of the players.

18 Jun 2022 11:30:05
Why are you so worried about something you've no control over?

18 Jun 2022 11:41:02
plenty of convos on here mate to get a sense where people at.

The transfer team consistently show that they will get the right players at the right time at the right price. I trust that and don't see that the midfield group is in crisis mode to force a move this summer.

18 Jun 2022 11:33:44
And the Keita haters come out again, the guy is a solid performer when on the pitch he has just not been available long enough to show it consistently but last year he showed the talent he has and I suspect him to be even better this season, closer to the talent we was expecting.

If the targets are not attainable then, what can we do? Sorry, the whole “just sign anyone for the sake of it” is a non entity cos we don’t operate that way in case anyone has been living under a rock for the past half decade.

I want a midfielder too n would be disappointed if one did not come in when the TW ends. That’s where it ends for me. I will support the team and trust the manager and the club cos I know we WILL compete cos after all, people cried about not signing a midfielder to replace Gini (he’d already been replaced with Thiago and Elliott, mind you) and we almost won the lot the ones we had. That said, hopefully one comes in.

The same set of players played City 3 times in the season just finished …. Which game did City win? With a fit Jones and Elliot and the addition of Carvalho I think we are potentially a fair bit stronger.

LoweLFC, please don't take this personally as you're not the first nor will you be the last to say "our midfield is aging".

Let's get it straight though, a few of the senior midfielders are aging. Hendo (32), Thiago (31) and Milner (36). Although that didn't stop Hendo playing nearly 60 games last season did it.

Keita (27), Fabinho, (28) and Ox (28) should be hitting prime years. There is an issue here though. Ox looks like he's lost his love for the game and none of the fans trust Keita to try or stay fit. As fans we have to accept that the only opinion that matters is Klopp, and he obviously trusts Keita enough to play him over 40 times including cup finals.

Behind those six senior options we've got Carvalho (19), Elliott (19), Jones (21) and Morton (19). That's four adept players who are very young and also seem to be trusted by Klopp. It's also a good blend as none of them are particularly similar. Then we've also got the academy which is teaming with talent.

So the whole aging midfield argument has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. We've got 3 out of 10 midfielders in their 30's. If people want to make an argument about the quality, i'm all for that debate. I am fully onboard with the notion that Ox and Keita are not good enough. Fabricating a debate that our entire midfield is aging? I'm not jumping on that hyperbole bandwagon.

My personal thoughts are Jones (who by the way, is fully capable of a screamer from outside the box) replaces Ox as one of the 6 senior options. Were it not for his eye injury he may have done so last season. The signing of Carvalho then replaces Jones as one of the 3 junior options who will probably get a lot of game time in the domestic cups and Champions League group stages. So I do believe Ox will go, but i don't see the need to sign another midfielder this summer if Keita stays. I'd happily move Keita on and replace him with Otavio who is a similar age, more versatile, a lot harder working and more creative. That comes down to quality though, not age. We have a good blend of youth and experience in my opinion. I also don't really get the clamour for a holding midfielder. Henderson has never let us down covering that role, nor has Morton. In the 15 games Fabinho didn't set foot on the pitch last season, we won 13 and drew 2. Yet the naysayers will have us believe we're terrible without him. Go figure.

18 Jun 2022 12:24:10
I think Jones has everything to be a top top player but for the last 2 season I have not seen an improvement on his weaker point that he has to have too many touches on the ball slowing attacks down with getting anywhere most of the time. Reminds me of lallana in that where when Elliott came in he seemed to know straight away when to move the ball on or when to take the extra touch.

18 Jun 2022 12:28:57
I really like Ox and feel like he didn't quite get enough consistent minutes to build up any kind of form. I hope stays and actually gets minutes.

18 Jun 2022 12:32:07
I’m pretty sure all our players are ageing. By this time next year they will all be a year older than they are today ?.

18 Jun 2022 13:18:16
JK23, you've got me on a technicality there ?.

18 Jun 2022 13:37:52
If he wants one then I’m sure he’ll get one.

18 Jun 2022 13:45:44
You can discuss this subject all Summer long and there’d be valid points on both sides of the debate.
Ultimately, I think, there are two compelling cases, one for another midfielder and one against.
That’s is, if any combination of Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago are injured together it represents a serious problem, especially if the lay-offs may be prolonged. However, this is a woulda, coulda, shoulda argument that hasn’t occurred. If it did, we’ve seen that the club will buy in January if necessary.
The case against is last season, pure and simple.
I’d like another midfielder myself but I have to concede that the latter fact is by far the strongest.

Nicely put MK and Juicer.

18 Jun 2022 15:01:40
There isn't a day that goes by without someone mentioning Keita and how bad he is. Get over it! - if Klopp played him 40 times this season and nearly 600 minutes more than Curtis, there must be a reason behind it. I don't care about the ceiling Curtis has, or what would have happened if Elliot wasn't injured, No EINSTEIN here can convince me that he hasn't contributed a great deal to our cup wins. And as much as you pretend to know 'everything' about football, I am sure all will agree that Klopp and his team know more. So try to be little more objective in the future in your hatred. Criticise when it merits to and not for the sake of it or to be in the good books of some out here.

18 Jun 2022 15:46:36
Jones almost went blind and elliot had no right ankle is the main reason Keita played so much. You can't convince me otherwise. I wish keita was great or even very good but he just isn't.

18 Jun 2022 16:02:43
"The good books"never a truer word spoke LFCDas?.

18 Jun 2022 17:05:54
A midfield of Milner, Keita and Henderson beat Manchester United 5-0.

{Ed077's Note - so it shows they're not good enough? Because there are very few midfield worse than Man Utd's in the PL.

18 Jun 2022 18:18:58
The Keita slander bothers me so much. Joe Allen didn't get this much hate.

18 Jun 2022 17:19:46
It shows that even missing 2 of our first choice midfield we are still capable of winning games. There seems to be this narrative that we have 3 decent midfielders and a bunch of donkeys, clearly that is nonsense.
