I hate it and feel incredibly embarrassed when the Ed’s get abuse, especially Ed 002.
I know you all give your time, insight, info and pearls of wisdom for free. I also except that a forum will always allow keyboard warriors, kids and w**nk**s to voice their opinions.
It is so disappointing to hear you guys getting abuse and probably rightly so you don’t share these posts. What can we do as a collective to help?
Maybe have another tab for “abusive messages” so that we can see what you have to deal with? Maybe call it the “Hall of shame”.

Ed001's right, people would just see it as a mark of achievement to get on the abusive messages tab. As is, there's one person who (imo) clearly posts wind-up nonsense just to see what reactions he gets. Add in a 'hall of fame' abusive messages section and I don't want to think about the crap people will come out with.
The only way, unfortunately, is for the Eds to squash the pond life. Having modded web forums and briefly been a Game Mod in an MMO, it gets tiresome having to do that.

Other posters get abuse and the Live Chat page was embarrassing in refusing to give City credit the day they won the League.
It's not just the Eds that receive the abuse and they can also dish it out.

@Rigsby, why do you think there are special rules for Social Media? A lack of basic human decency applies when dealing with other people, social media or not.
I disagree with a fair bit of what’s said on here and I’m quite happy to say I disagree but there are ways to show that we disagree without using foul mouthed abuse. If we all start to say things that begin “It’s only in the transfer wine / kids / nutters keyboard warriors …. ” then what’s the point f having the site.
As I I disagree with a fair share of the stuff people post but that’s not the point (heaven forbid I might actually be wrong myself from time to time) but this site - primarily due to the brilliant efforts of ALL the Eds make this the best footy site around by miles. They deserve thanks and credit. For their ongoing efforts not abuse.
Right off to put my soap box away and have a bacon sarny.

I’m on this site daily on numerous occasions and I enjoy reading every posters comments (not abusive ones) and none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for all of your guys hard work, time and efforts.

I agree JK. I hardly ever post, read multiple times a day and have done so for many years. Remember Blair Mayne etc posting regularly. No-one should be abused for helping others with the information that they seek and doing so for free. I am extremely thankful to the Eds. The site needs banter and comment from readers, it is just sad that people can’t behave themselves. I would use the rule of thumb that if you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face don’t say it at all. Sadly, maybe some would say such things to someone’s faces. Any mechanism to block etc just takes more time from the Eds which makes it worse.
Eds keep up the good work and recognise that there is a huge amount of goodwill towards you and a lot of it comes from those who don’t post often and so is not easily seen.

Social media is a cesspit. Having a paid membership area would help thin out the idiots, but it would cost the site some good posters.
The Eds do a cracking job filtering most of it out, although it must become a strain to do so with so many twats online.

I don't think there should be special rules for social media, WDW.
It gives a platform to people that we wouldn't normally hear though. Some of them can't use these platforms responsibly. The Eds will know what to do about it.
But others getting outraged and abusing the abusers won't work. It's what the abusers thrive on. They are usually attention seeking types and they can't get attention constructively.
If any Eds don't want to put up with it, I respect their decision but sadly it's the way of. the world these days.
Ignoring this type of attention seeking and removing abusive posts is something that needs to be done, unfortunately.

I think unfortunately Ed02 took my comment the wrong way which was basically around the media saying we weren’t getting another midfielder. I wasn’t suggesting he was lying, or indeed about Nunez. Was simply making the point that plans change, as what clearly happened with Nunez. I get called a vegetable for that. That comment was unfair. I did not use any abuse language towards Ed02. It’s a banter site.
