Keita will be the next one to extend his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2022 14:55:26
OK but why though?

20 Jun 2022 15:00:34
If Naby signs a new contract I’ll be getting the popcorn out on here for all the fun and hysterics.

20 Jun 2022 15:07:41
Excatly SR why?

20 Jun 2022 15:42:42
The big German fella wants him to?

20 Jun 2022 15:44:34
Nobody is forcing the club to offer him a contract.

They obviously want to keep him more than they want to pay to replace him.

20 Jun 2022 15:53:48
Really doubt that. Klopp is not an idiot.

20 Jun 2022 15:54:36
I'd much rather Naby leaves but I must say, angry emoji's are a bit petulant ? like when you get your pregnant missus Dairy Milk and it gets dashed at your head because they wanted Galaxy. "I WANT A MIDFIELDER BUT NOT THAT ONE"

20 Jun 2022 16:21:31
MK, I think a better analogy is that yer missus wants a galaxy bar, you get her one and when she opens it there's only one square in packet.

20 Jun 2022 16:40:31
Great news, let’s hope he can silence some of the idiots, erm I mean critics.

20 Jun 2022 16:51:39
Beckers pecker. you think Keita deserves a new contract? Don't honestly know who the idiots are here. Wow. People really are watching a different player than me. A player strolling around 90% of the time with no assists or goals to show for it. Let's make him the best player at the club I say. His fan boys would be delighted.

20 Jun 2022 16:54:16
Something red, that begs the question - WHO ATE MOST OF NABY?

20 Jun 2022 17:09:08
In my head I refuse to believe the best manager in the world doesn’t see keita is dross and that we need a midfield this summer if we are serious about winning one of the big trophies.

He should be banging down the door of the owners demanding more money rather than us just waste a season coasting into 2nd with a good champs league run. Shouldn’t be leaving this to chance. Next season Mo will be gone, Hendo, Virg and Thiago all a year older. Time to capitalise while we can and the core of the team is in/ near their primes.

20 Jun 2022 17:11:27
@JK23: With you on this one! Will change by Display Pic in the honour of the great man :D.

20 Jun 2022 17:24:42
Ah I remember those days MK. When my mrs was expecting she roasted me for hoovering up but not the way she would do it. Nothing like a bit of hormone psychosis to make you plan a sneaky emigration.

20 Jun 2022 17:30:07
Seemingly, there’s a town called Kieta in Papau New Guinea. I would rather see the club sign a new contract to buy that town rather than sign up Naby for another few years.

20 Jun 2022 17:37:17
Malak if he is to be offered a new contract then you can only assume that he’s doing the job that’s being asked of him otherwise he wouldn’t be offered a contract.
Just because he’s not doing what you wanted or expected does not mean he’s not performing as the manager wants.
Like others have said, Klopp is no idiot so if Keita was as bad as some of the idiots say he wouldn’t be playing would he?

20 Jun 2022 17:45:17
Nonsense. That's all. Its like you're blind or something.

20 Jun 2022 17:50:25
And people aren't idiots just because they see things differently to you. Only idiots think that way. In case you forgot Elliot broke his ankle and missed almost all the season and Curtis Jones was almost blind in one eye for 5 months. That's why Jesus Klopp Christ played him.

20 Jun 2022 18:07:29
Curtis Jones was out for 8 weeks with his eye injury. He picked it up at the start of Nov and he was back in the squad against Leicester on 28 Dec.

20 Jun 2022 18:28:38
But he then was out of the squad again for a long time due to complications with his eye injury. No one on earth can convince me Keita is better than Jones. Even if Klopp starts Keita 1000 times ahead of Jones. Klopp is a human being capable of mistakes and is very stubborn and faithful to his players those who deserve it or not. If he was perfect we'd have 3 CL titles and 2 more league titles under his tutelage.

20 Jun 2022 18:38:08
Keita might be rubbish but he's our rubbish; for the time being anyway.
I'm hoping that he becomes less rubbish if he is staying.
Come on, Naby Lad, prove us doubters wrong.

20 Jun 2022 18:42:17
Are we not offering him contract because no one is interested in paying much for him? if we got him to sign contract we could get bit better fee. Obviously next year his contract is up. I'm pretty sure, as Ed's have said if decent offer came in they would except it.

20 Jun 2022 18:49:09
Malak he was literally in every premier league squad bar 2 from 28Dec onwards mate. He wasn’t selected for 2 back to back squads in middle of Feb but it’s saying that it wasn’t due to injury just wasn’t selected. Apart from that he made the other 18 squads.

20 Jun 2022 18:57:04
Ah lads let's just trust the big crazy german when it comes to the midfield. These EXACT same conversations were being had on here last summer and we didn't have too bad a season did we, we have the best manager in the world he knows best.

20 Jun 2022 19:06:41
Ashy, it's much worse for us blokes, we can't breath without getting kicked off the sofa! Not that i'd dare say that to a womans face ?.

20 Jun 2022 19:07:40
I think the saying only time Will tell.

There’s lots of reasons (positive and negative) why Naby could have played so much last season. The new season is literally 6 weeks away so it won’t be long before we know where Naby is in the pecking order of midfielders.

As I’ve said before if Klopp doesn’t pick him it will not bother me in the slightest. If Klopp does pick him then he’ll get my support and I’ll be hoping he does well as it makes no sense for me to want him to fail.

20 Jun 2022 19:43:02
Past caring about naby. just fingers crossed some1 somewhere wants him. Terrible player but seems klopp is still trying to justify the signing. He ain't going to get much gametime this season anyway.

20 Jun 2022 20:48:54
Klopp is not trying to justify anything to anyone.

I trust Jurgen Klopp more than “Magico1234”.

20 Jun 2022 20:54:38
I'll bet he starts at least 35 games across all competitions.

20 Jun 2022 21:19:12
Seem to recall someone at the club saying Keita was the most technically gifted player in training?

Clearly he is valued at LFC if they are looking to renew his contract.

If he could keep free of injury then he might show us what he really does have but which he hasn’t been able to produce on a consistent basis.

20 Jun 2022 22:23:57
Tommy, I don't doubt that Naby has a lot ability as a footballer. Although with people like Thiago, Trent, Salah and Bobby at the club, I'm not sure he'd be the *most* technically gifted outright. But he's certainly well able to play when it suits him.

It's application of said ability on any remotely consistent basis that is the problem. He's spent most of his Liverpool career looking decidedly not bothered and disappearing out of games after 15 minutes. He was largely free of injury last season (missed 5 or 6 games due to one injury) and he still only played well a handful of times, imo.

Whatever about his contract or how many games he plays next season, what I'm very confident of, is that if he has any self-awareness at all, Naby is going to be one of those blokes giving interviews after he retires saying about how he didn't appreciate the opportunities he had as a footballer and he could've been a better played if he'd worked harder and wishes he'd taken things more seriously.

20 Jun 2022 23:19:01
I’ve watched Naby’s work rate specifically because people tell me he doesn’t try. I just don’t see it.
I also don’t see Klopp playing him in huge games in the run in, bringing him on in a CL final if he thought he wasn’t applying himself correctly.
With all of the analytics they have these days it would be fairly obvious if this was the case too.
It’s like people like Malak make stuff up to suit their own narrative.
I thought he had a decent season especially the second half of it and I can think of 2 games where he was man of the match. I can’t think of any games where he was absolutely awful that warrants the abuse he gets.
I will never understand why people want to slag off their own players it just doesn’t help anyone but the opposition.

21 Jun 2022 03:56:15
I am really happy that Keita is re-signing. I look forward to him having another season less disrupted by injuries than the season before and to see him keep improving.

21 Jun 2022 07:58:21
I look forward to Naby being announced as team captain and future player/ coach.

21 Jun 2022 08:00:06
Honestly you're the one making stuff up. I made a mistake by saying Jones was out longer than he actually was. You sir are just lying at this point. I will not discuss this nonsense with you anymore. Keita played those important games because Thiago wasn't fit or injured. Its like we are not allowed to question or see with our own eyes. Klopp has made many mistakes and Keita and the persistence with him is one the biggest and most costly yet.

21 Jun 2022 08:14:00
and i know you're lying because if you go check the distance covered metric for Naby Keita you'll see he is by far the lowest of any player at the club that plays regularly. let's see how you'll spin that mathematical fact around!

21 Jun 2022 08:48:37
Malak how am I lying? I haven’t said anything about distance covered and I wouldn’t bother looking. I just said that he looks like he’s trying to me and if he wasn’t trying then Klopp would know because the numbers are in front of him. Only Klopp knows what he is asking of Keita and if he thought he was not trying he simply wouldn’t play him. End of.
Your insistence that you know better than the best manager in world football is quite frankly embarrassing.
If Klopp rates him and wants to keep him then get behind him. Constantly whinging about him is not going to make him play any better.

{Ed001's Note - let's just cancel all discussions then shall we? No point if we all just have to agree with Klopp! Jesus give it a rest, you have no argument other than Klopp knows best and now you want to tell everyone else that there is no point them having a discussion. You are just wasting everyone's time being on a forum, so please just stop.}

21 Jun 2022 09:10:18
Just to add, it seems that we are going to offer (according to Sky) Naby and cash to Inter for Barella. Not kidding by the way, it’s on the Sky website.

Whose going to be the first to say it’ll never happen …….

21 Jun 2022 09:34:45
Beckers, cos Klopp made a decision does not mean we all have to accept it like some type of cult where the leader dare not be challenged. There are a ton of stuff Klopp has done that I don't agree with (tapping players up gets my goat each time, for ex. ) and have voiced them on here BUT if your only argument is that Klopp knows best, it means you have NO argument on the substance at all, to actually support why Keita should get a new contract.

Also, Ed01 said the other day, that Klopp signed Thiago to replace Naby which means he didn't think he was worth the trouble anymore. Most importantly, did it occur to you that he is getting a new contract cos the club cannot move him right now? Did it occur to you that we are keeping him so we can sell him during his extension so we can get something for him cos we paid a lot for him in transfer fees and the crazy wages he is on? "Klopp knows best", Yeah, he does. He tried to replace your Naby and I fully support that statement and Klopp in this context. Peace and Love.

21 Jun 2022 09:59:14
Malak in fairness I would have thought Jones was out longer than what he was. I only knew because I looked and last season was so thick and fast 2 months did actually feel like 5 months.

On a separate note. Where can I found such stats as distance covered etc. I’m a stats geek and love stuff like that but Google doesn’t really help me.

21 Jun 2022 10:18:35
Barella has a bad attitude.
lol hopefully that means he'll turn out to be like Gini and Mane for us.

21 Jun 2022 11:20:08
Some people just got to hate. Get rid of Naby and focus will shift to another player that "needs to be got rid of" while all the time spouting YNWA.
That's just how some folks roll.
I call it "mother in law syndrome".

21 Jun 2022 12:43:00
JK23, i use a site called analytics but it costs money, i got it back when i was working for a betting company for creating odds and other stuff. But i quit that sh*t because its a terrible business. fbref. com is good too, certainly one of the best 'free' ones out there.

21 Jun 2022 13:17:53
Malak cheers mate. Much appreciated.

21 Jun 2022 18:14:53
Klopp knows best. "navy keith". No manager gets everything right.
