I read a report on Sky Sort that we are going to offer Keita as part of a swap deal for Barella.

I have to say that I checked the date to see if it’s April 1st.

Agree0 Disagree0

WDW I see that yesterday then just see it on sky sports new this morning with what ed002 has said about Naby not sure if he will get a work permit in Italy probably just a bit of click bait. But we can only dream that would put and end to a great transfer window.

Sky seem to just be repeating a rumour from Calcio Mercatto.

Fabrizio Romano has stated Keita will be offered an extension.

I can't see a swap deal happening regardless. They're very rare.

Barella is a fantastic player! But Keita if rumors are to be believed is here to stay.

21 Jun 2022 12:22:18
Agree with mk. Would be delighted if it happened but can't see a swap happening.

God kieta has some ability. It's really odd when klopp seems to get the most out of everybody it's not clicking with Kieta. He has a good game and you think here we go now then flat again for the next 3-4 games. I've had faith in him for a long long time but it's beginning to wane.

One assumes if this has any traction whatsoever it's Keita + cash for Barella rather than a straight swap.

Still seems a bit unlikely even at that though.

The source of all of the stories (Sky today, BBC Gossip overnight, IIRC, and the Echo yesterday (and today, and tomorrow, and Thursday etc) ) is Calcio Mercatto as Adam said.

Aray posted it on the Rumours section yesterday.

Would be an awesome, awesome window if true, but I doubt it is anything but tittle tattle.

{Ed0666's Note - There’s tittle tattle and then there’s tittle tattle on steroids and I think this particular bunkum comes under the latter. I’m not sure Thiago would be pleased upon hearing this. Although everyone associated with Liverpool would be delirious if it came to fruition.

Is Thiago mates with Naby, Ed0666?

{Ed0666's Note - Barella is direct competition for Thiago I would have thought mate.

21 Jun 2022 16:09:38
Who’s more important to get into the side. A fit Thiago or fit Hendo?

21 Jun 2022 16:14:43
Ah yes, good point. We do need to be thinking about life after Thiago, but maybe a younger player who is less of an immediate threat to his place would be better. Albeit I'm sure that Barella can play CDM too so I could see him and Thiago in the same midfield?

Imagine Barella and Thiago, with Fabs behind - tasty!

21 Jun 2022 16:22:33
Yeah ed002 did mention a while back that Liverpool would open to listen to offers for Thiago, not that we are selling but a good offer could tempt them to think about different options.

21 Jun 2022 16:23:19
Yes, Ed0666, but what is Thiago expecting, exactly? He's at the club he wanted, he's got the salary he wanted (the second highest at the club), and his contract is expiring next summer (he arrived on a 3 year contract. He's on the down curve of his career even though clearly he has a few years to go still. Maybe there's an extension, who knows, but the club can't stop evolving and moving forward. We need long term solution for both of our #8 positions (Hendo and Thiago) and not just one player for each, mind you, over the next 1-3 years.

This is why I absolutely love players like Milner. He gets his head down and just works works works. Players are coming and going all around him, but the man never wavers and continues to bring value to the club. And you never ever hear a peep from, except when it's time to pop the champagne.

{Ed0666's Note - you mean pop the ribena? My point is game time. I’m sure Thiago came to play when he signed and can’t have the second highest wage earner at the club on the bench.

I don't think Barella and Thiago are alike at all - apart from maybe in height. I see Barella as a right sided no8. He's a counter-pressing machine and would play Hendo's role brilliantly. Thiago is more of a metronome on our left side no8.

{Ed0666's Note - thanks for that pelican

21 Jun 2022 18:01:32
No way Inter will let go of one of their most prized jewels in Barella and replace him with a player way below his quality in Keita, IMO. Ain’t happening.

21 Jun 2022 18:07:08
Thiago is more of a metro-gnome.

Thiago or Henderson? Thiago for me.
Henderson relied more on getting around the pitch and he's not as good at that now. I do like Henderson holding though and I think he could cover Fabinho and allow us to have more legs or a goal threat on the right.

21 Jun 2022 23:48:08
Captain fantastic for me.

22 Jun 2022 01:25:39
Triple 6 - thoughts on Elliot being the heir apparent to thiago. I see a lot of Thiago in how Elliot plays.

{Ed0666's Note - before his injury I would have been more confident in eulogizing about him and making comparisons. Ask me again after the World Cup mate and I’ll give you my opinion if your still interested pal.
