City getting good value for money deal in Philips approx 40 M if including the academy product they sent the other way:

Full England international and club captain.
But not sure how much game time he is getting if he replaced feranadino.

{Ed0666's Note - We’ll see if he can handle the pressure of stepping up to a different level @ City. As for replacing the ‘foul machine’ I think they’ve bought sensibly if not spectacularly. He’ll do a job not sure not sure he’s any where near the standard of Fernandinho tbh

I think for up to £50m it’s an awful signing another over rated English player Grealish mark 2 for me. Spurs sign Bissouma for half the price and twice the player.

Foulnandino left very big boots to fill but i do see Philps doing a reasonable job, He and Rodri with 3 of silva KDB foden with focal as haaland.

I think Pep would do this. Gungdolan, sterling and and Mahrez to call from Bench mot too shabby.

For some reason In England us fans and media get a major hard on for centre midfielders who are decent passers of the ball (even if that mostly includes sidewards and backwards) and run around a lot.

It’s hardly like City have signed an in prime Xavi, Iniesta or Modric. For me Phillips is a decent enough player but if he wasn’t English he would be probably worth around 15-20 mill.

They have added legs to the midfield so he will improve them. City being ruthless as usual in improving their squad, will sign the Brighton left back next. Have to admit they have done really good business this summer. We are at risk of being left behind if we don’t bite the bullet and improve our midfield. Surely we can’t just sit back and watch them pull away.

I think we’re kidding ourselves with a value of 15-20 million nobody is selling anybody of that quality regardless of nationality to a premier league team nower days. I think he’s a good player, helps with the extra subs situation too. Can’t grumble at the price if they’re willing to spend it they clearly have it. Don’t expect him to start too much but it’s very good back up.

Sailor Jerry that’s my point mate, personally I don’t believe he is of that quality. The guys got 1 goal and 3 assists in Premier league football.

I think Phillips is a decent player and he’ll get better under Pep’s system.
City have two good players (mostly) for every position and that’s the standard if you want to win the league these days, there’s very little margin for error now.

Agree Ed0666, I think there is an element of ‘buy British’ about it to pad out the HG contingent. For me, I don’t really get the hype. Nothing against the lad, he is a decent player, nothing more, nothing less but he isn’t somebody who would make me want to go out of my way to get to a game to watch him.

{Ed0666's Note - yes I can’t disagree with any of that mate.

No point in most of you watching football next season. According to yourselves it's going to be a procession for City and no other club have a chance. No point watching so. I'll check in next May to see who finished where.

Not forgetting OMM that if we don't win our first 2 matches we will already be out of the title race.
