With the World Cup coming along in November it's going to be a strange season once more. I'm wondering about a couple of things, mainly will it throw into the mix for top 4 that wouldn't usually finish the season there - The ones that start a season off at a good pace but fade away once squads get stretched at around the late October to Xmas. I wonder with the break for the WC that these teams that usually fade get time to recharge and go again? I know there are a load of games to contest before the break but might benefit some.

The other thing is, whether it's good or bad, that run up to the WC for the guaranteed national squad players possibly not giving that 100% in case of injury. I know we usually get it going into a summer WC but by then for some players their clubs aren't competing for much in the weeks prior.

I had thought that a winter world cup might stop the world Cup fever 'they looked brilliant in the world cup' fans transfer madness, but the winter one will just have the same effect going g into January I suppose, although with a bit more reluctance by clubs still in Europe to sell.

Injuries sustained at the world cup could have a massive bearing on both the top and bottom of the league.

Clubs will have to learn to use the 5 subs rule cleverly to protect players.

I just cannot get behind a sportswashing world cup being held in a non footballing country with such a appalling human rights record.
Its wrong on so many levels.

Im not fussed about injuries to much. Keepers rarely get injured so Allison should be ok. Trent won't get a game as Southgate probably won't take him or if he dose play him, which is odd as he usually plays 4 right backs at a time. Hendo won't get a game. Robbo isn't going. Mo isn't going, Matip is retired from internationals, Gomez won't go. So it will likely be more of our attacking players if that's the case. And we have quite a few. Ithink it will be more of a case of fatigue rather than actual injury . Rotation will be key.
