We bought keita and ox to be progressive midfielders to carry the ball, i would swap matheus nunes in a heartbeat for both of them as he is a specialist in exactly what we need .
I am very encouraged by elliot and carvalho in the progressive role and we are blessed to have them i hope they can bridge the gap from last season if no signings are made .

Agree0 Disagree0

@Hailstones, if we get rid of Ox and Naby and buy Nunes (although apart from social media there is no evidence that we are after him or have even made contact with him or his current club) we would be ideally placed :

We would have, apparently, a very good midfielder (although once again I bow to the knowledge of everybody who has watched him, although didn’t mention his name until this week) .

We would still be able to ask if we are going to buy a midfielder about 8 or 9 times a day based on the assumption that it is 2 out 1 in when we replace Ox and Naby with Nunes.

Are we buying a midfiekder yet?

22 Jul 2022 01:36:18
As with any new signing there is always risk of things not working out. So we may get a new midfielder but just how effective he will be is anyones guess.
Ox and Keita were both very good players in their roles before joining us. With OX we even saw glimpses of the same until that Roma match.
So it’s all okay to say we should get 1 more midfielder but will it work to our advantage?

22 Jul 2022 02:11:57
@What_a_Goal, spot on about the chance that players might not work out.

I was actually thinking that’s why we always buy our players at the star of the transfer windows. I reckon if they don’t work out in their first couple of hours of football here (like Nunez’s first two appearances) we can sell them before the window closes and buy someone else.

22 Jul 2022 04:32:11
Hi have a gut feeling Ox will be sold before window shuts, and that's when we may make move for Nunes or wait until January window and play Carvalho and Curtis Jones.

The young chap plays so good can't make a difference if its Coutinho or Carvalho.
And another one Stefan Bajcetic he looks promising, hope to see him more since we have 5 subs this season.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Naby and Ox?

They hardly ever get a mention on here these days.

22 Jul 2022 08:02:17
@JK23, post of the pre-season - spilled my coffee cos I was laughing out loud ??.

22 Jul 2022 08:33:57
For the final time and just so it’s clear - we are not buying another mid this window whether you like it or not. Please move along and discuss something (anything) else.

{Ed014's Note - how about whether Naby and the Ox are injury prone? ?‍♂️??

22 Jul 2022 08:39:43
We need backups to the players that might not work out.
And of course more midfielders.
I have a gut feeling we'll sign another midfielder or five, but a hunch that we'll go with what we've got.

22 Jul 2022 08:52:59
Exactly ed014 these players are frequently getting injured or producing erratic performances. They are literally stop gaps for a better options in the future .

{Ed014's Note - we had the same at Arsenal, including with the Ox, Wilshere, Diaby, Ramsey and more, it’s just so frustrating.

22 Jul 2022 09:44:09
Hailstones, what players are constantly getting injured? Naby has been fit for months now while Ox just got injured for the first time in 2 years? Pls, enuff of all this stuff cos it’s getting boring now and it’s not even supported by facts.

I want a midfielder to come in too BUT if it’s not going to happen then, what is there to gain by constantly moaning about it? Constantly saying that we need a midfielder will NOT make it happen any sooner no matter how much you scream about it. I propose you focus all that energy in other things than on what you youslrsekf know, will prolly NOT happen. Just a thought.

22 Jul 2022 10:33:34
If we do sign a midfielder does that mean we win the transfer window?

22 Jul 2022 11:15:43
They don’t even get injured that much anymore they’re just not what we’re after. Both are more forward thinking midfielders and we’ve now got Elliott, Carvalho and Jones vying for that role, all of whom i’d rather see play there every single time over Ox or Keita. We have too many attacking midfielders and not enough defensively minded ones. That is the issue.

22 Jul 2022 11:39:04
Oli red, mate we are on a liverpool banter page, I am not trying to manifest a new signing with speaking my words . If I could do that we would have the harlem globe trotters of world club football . What I am saying is keita was bought to do a certain job he isn't doing it sufficiently . The ox wasn't even trusted when we rested squad an he couldn't play 10 90 minutes matches in a row without injuries .

22 Jul 2022 12:41:57
If Keita isn't doing his job sufficiently then why are the club looking to extend his contract?
Genuine question.

Flash, we always win, whatever we do. ?.
