It makes sense unless there is any injuries or departures. Even tho we prob need a midfielder there is only so many places in the squad. Unless a midfielder or two leave I don’t see any more incomings.

I think unless both Ox and Keita leave then there’ll be no more incomings, I also think that Klopp may have seen enough in Bajcetic in training and the friendlies to consider giving him a go at being the support role to Fabinho, which looks like a good idea.

I think that a lot of people don't give Klopp enough credit, when it comes to his ability to change and adapt. We've been seeing this since his arrival, where he has adapted to the league (I don't know what you think, but I don't see LFC playing any "heavy metal football" anymore at anytime), through both recruitment, tactics, strategies and forward vision. And I'm sure he has learned his biggest lesson in mistakenly not replacing Lovren. We all know what happened subsequently, and if it were not for Alisson saving Klopp's goose with that header, we'd have not earned that 90 Million from the UCL and probably not seen Diaz and Nunez joining us either; the consequences of that one mistake would have been that great.

So I'm sure Klopp knows what he is lacking in the midfield area. And I am sure they are looking at midfielders that can be brought in. And talking to teams about Keita and Ox (where is the sense in letting either or both go for free next year? ) And bedding in Carvalho and Eliott. And setting up the right situation for Bellingham to come in, if that ever happens. I'd be willing to bet that LFC could try the Keita-style purchase of Bellingham (one year in advance) ; just to lock it up. And let's not forget the financial risks in making two consecutive club record purchases (Nunez and possibly Bellingham) .

So I sort of understand the go slow approach. There is plenty of time yet in the window. Some people have gotten upset with Klopp announcing that he was done for this window. I personally doubt he really believes that because things change every day in this business. Maybe he said it just to get people off his back.

At least last season we could identify the target - Bissouma - but this season the panic is just so unfocused - we don’t even know who we want or why we want them, we just know we need to buy a midfielder ???

And there are still over 5 weeks left before the window closes - it’s desperate times ahead for the lads who don’t get out and about much.

Everyone forgets the really great times just before Klopp got here.

Certainly his arrival has clearly stopped the progression of our players. Without him we might even have been challenging for a quadruple last season until the very lat two games. Oh hang on…….

Who knows, perhaps he was lying and we weren’t actually challenging for everything we entered and clearly one of the best three club sides in the world. Or, perhaps he really does know what he’s doing and expects the squad he now has to improve for / during the upcoming season ….

I take Klopp at his word. I think you can tell when he is holding something back or yells out of turn cos he starts to get mumbly and his English gets funny lol

He seemed decisive in this to me and I also don’t disagree with what he said. The squad is full and unless someone goes or we have a season ending injury there is no need to bring in a new player.

OP, how can it be a smokescreen when Klopp has said the same thing essentially all thru the summer? We all know that for a player to come in, one has to go OR if an injury occurs that could require player replacement in the squad cos clearly the squad is set, numbers-wise. So what is hard to understand, exactly?
