Imo firmino is a clever player and I think he has been a great player for us and an amazing make shift cf but a time comes where we have to move on, 20m don't seem like a lot but when you think between Elliott carvalho Ramsey it shows how much you can invest in the youth for that sort of doe, 3 bright new stars to replace a bit part player now, a no brainer for me chaps ?. Sorry Bobby time to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely not he should stay no doubt.

And if Elliot and Carvalho don’t kick on? Literally tens / hundreds of millions to sign two ‘finished articles’ to replace them.

Kept Bobby her for his current contract and offer him a 2 or 3 year extension - valuable squad member and a mentor for the two potential longterm replacements for his role.

Makes me laugh that we seem to be accepting that 30 is the cut off point for the end to a Liverpool career - can someone explain why? Bobby might not be an Olympic class sprinter but neither is Harvey - should we sell him too? In fact, . I’d back Bobby’s football brain and instinct for the game over virtually anybody else in the squad.

I would gladly sell firmino and replace him with lucas paqueta. Would be a proper quality replacement can play midfield an as a false 9.

Fair point West Derby but its the same for every player it seems. Everyone seemed willing to take £50-60m for Salah whos younger and who 6 months ago people where saying was the best player on the planet earlier this summer. let's face it Salahs output is far superior to Bobbys who offers little these days compared to the Bobby of old.

It’s too late in window to sell. Bobby will stay unless he forces a move. I think he’ll get lots of game time this season if fit though clearly behind Nunez as starter.

26 Jul 2022 08:20:16
Gotta say if it’s a £20 million plus offer we should take it. It’s simply business and would be a really good offer.

26 Jul 2022 09:00:03
Too late in the window? there's over 5 weeks left.

26 Jul 2022 09:15:06
I suppose it comes down to whether Klopp thinks we can make do with 2 number 9’s and doesn’t need 3.

26 Jul 2022 09:40:06
@Jones red ; it isn’t as simple as taking the £20m though. If Bobby can be a part in mentoring the likes of Elliot, Carvalho, Gordon, Clark et al to get them to world class level it really will save us millions - perhaps even hundreds of millions. In all likelihood hood we are going to try and sign Bellingham next summer for in excess of £100m. Imagine the boys I’ve mentioned having to be replaced because they don’t achieve their potential - the cost of replacing them with. The finished article’ (like Bellingham apparently) would be astronomical.

Like I said on the transfer page, Bobby is no longer a cast iron starter but that is only part of the picture. If we did get rid of Bobby we will have let four forwards leave - Taki, Div, Sadio and Bobby which would leave us with Luis, Darwin, Diogo (injured) and Mo. A couple of injuries and people might regret l3tting Bobby go in terms of the starting 11 too.

Hope they've touched up on their spanish for these pearls of wisdom?.

26 Jul 2022 11:21:01
West Derby there is an abundance of other world class players at the club that can do that very job for the young players.

I have nothing at all against Bobby but it would be a good offer and could even prompt a purchase in midfield by the club ( (Nunez, Paquez etc) .

26 Jul 2022 12:33:09
@Jones red, there are possibly 3 or. 4 genuine world class players in the squad but they don’t play Bobby’s role and Elliot and Carvalho are the youngsters most likely to fill the role going forward. Bobby can be a valuable asset for a while to come.

This is a massive guess and at no way is this me saying it’s accurate.

But from looking from the outside to in I’d imagine Klopp 100% wants to keep Bobby for at least this season as party of his squad.

The 3 factors I think will play a part is

1. Bobby being offered a new contract due to his current wages and squad status. I think if he’s offered a contract it would be on reduced terms but he could still get big money leaving on a free and moving to another club.

2. Klopp might have his eye on another player but we don’t have the budget to purchase them. With players like Ox and Phillips not being sold to add money to a new incoming perhaps 30 mill for Bobby would allow such a deal to happen.

3. I think it could all depend on what Bobby wants. In 4 months time the last ever World Cup Bobby can be involved in is taking place. Last season he missed a few Brazil squads despite being fit. Jesus and Richarlison have just been given media coverage with their moves so Bobby might feel his only opportunity to get in that squad is to be playing week in week out.

Only my thoughts I think there’s a lot of moving parts to this one and what the outcome will be.

£30m is a decent return for a 30 year old who may be 5th choice so I get why it’s enticing. But I wouldn’t sell, he still has a lot to offer as a role player and I feel he can help with nunezs development. His leadership could be important for the younger players and I think that alone is worth the £30m. Helps that he also will bag about 10-15 goals too.

{Ed002's Note - What £30M is that?}

26 Jul 2022 14:46:03
Meant £20m - all hypothetical for the purpose of discussion.

26 Jul 2022 15:56:39
Bobbie will be sold ONLY if we can get a replacement for him. Also, Klopp will not be running Bobby out of town just like he did not run Divvy out of town either in spite of many on here making that case. Therefore if Bobbie leaves, it will either be cos he wants to go and we grant him his wish (provided a replacement can be brought in) or Klopp wants to keep him, he wants to stay and he stays. As for the 20M asking fee? What a joke. Juve can do one as he is worth 10m more than that, at least. Just my opinion.

26 Jul 2022 16:14:58
Bobby won't be sold unless he asks to go. End of discussion. He'll be kept in the same way Milner is kept, leadership and a good example to the youngsters. So it doesn't matter what we think about it there's only 2 opinions that matter and neither of them are on this page.
