We may well have lost last night but I don't think there are many others in the league who would have had that type of test in preseason.

It really was a physical encounter and didn't look or feel like a friendly.

That should have sharpened the boys up considerably.

Agree0 Disagree0

Evidently not enough, because we got beat.

28 Jul 2022 08:15:34
So we got beat. What did that tell you?

Liverpools first pre season game was 15 days ago and that was our fourth game.

Salzburgs first pre season game was 33 days ago and that was their seventh friendly with a cup game game and league game thrown in between.

To largely dominate the ball against a much fitter team is a good place to start. Salzburg defended like their lives depended on it and that will certainly bring the boys on in their prep for the season.

We got beat as we lacked sharpness in the final third against a well settled back line. Which isn’t surprising when you’ve only been back at it a few weeks!

At this stage of the season you have to look past the score at times.

Salzburg have already started their season so are a step on in fitness. It was a good workout after two full training session the day before.

It just shows we need another midfielder.

Sorry, I thought I’d start the “discussion’ today.

28 Jul 2022 08:56:07
Really hope Darwin bucks the trend of the last couple of "big No.9's" we've signed.

28 Jul 2022 09:16:12
And there they go again with Frode Kippers. "Evidently not enough cos we got beat". Blah, blah, blah. Oh please, take a day off and get some air, man. It's warm outside, after all.

Nobody with any sense cares about the result of a preseason game 3/ 4 days before the curtain raiser prior to the start of the new season vs City. Would you have preferred that we won the game and picked up needless injuries? Yeah, me neither.

I will not go into fluid explanations like Wassa-lfc did cos that is just a waste of my time and energy. If you are that sore about losing a worthless preseason game, I hope your head doesn't go were we to lose a game that ACTUALLY matters. Good Grief!

It was a good workout at the level of intensity you'd expect of a Premier League game.

And a timely reminder for the players and coaches that opposition, if given a lead, will sit back and defend/ block for their lives against us.

More work to do on the training ground yet but at least fitness and intensity is looking good.

I think is the same old story we can't put away our chances . It cost us the league and champions league last year. Still need a midfielder.

28 Jul 2022 16:05:35
If forwards are missing chances and it cost us the league and CL last season then what the f*ck do we need a midfielder for? At least make the post make a little bit of sense.

28 Jul 2022 17:07:30
Spot on, OMM. They CANNOT seem to make up their minds, this lot.

28 Jul 2022 18:34:12
We put 5 of those chances away the other night. Without a new midfielder too.

28 Jul 2022 18:34:49
Our forwards miss too many chances so we needed better finishers. But in Jota and Nunez their build up play and ability to hold up the ball is not great so the argument is for Bobby to start who scores the least goals of all the forwards.

We’ve literally gone full circle with the opinion.

28 Jul 2022 20:36:13
We need a new midfielder because most of ours are made of crisps and will spend half the season on the bench .
