Was at the Community Shield yday, thought Liverpool played really well. Anyone who doubts Thiago is absolutely crazy, he was absolutely unbelievable.

Think Nunez will also do really well, he came off the bench and instantly provided so many problems. Won a penalty and scored a goal also. His name was ringing around the Liverpool end extensively, got the feeling he’s going to be quite the hit.

Just like to also give a big mention to the fellow reds, train strikes, numerous crashes on the M6 and yet a full allocation. Fans were excellent as usual. Shame some of the City fans resorted to the traditional ‘Murderer’ and ‘Victim’ chants, sadly some things never change.

Looking forward to the new season! I know it’s only the community shield but hopefully one of many ‘trophies’ to come this season ?.

A real shame those chants. uneducated idiots. City fans. sums them up.

Just like to say Marty that’s it’s always only a select few. Shouldn’t generalise a fan base based on some idiots, needs calling out however.

I’m just confused because you say “city” and “fans” but I can’t put the two words together into a sentence that makes any sense.

31 Jul 2022 11:00:29
Every club has idiots including our own. City fans in general are pretty decent from my own experience.

31 Jul 2022 11:34:25
Agreed JK but always annoys me when fans start singing that rubbish. Dense.

Think you can safely say Nunez similar to Rush i. e. goal sniffer/ hanger, had three good chances one was the goal obviously, one on one hit the keeper and a glancing header of a cross, taking one out of three good chances has to be improved on to two out of three in really big games to come if determines what you win in the end, good start though will have to be more clinical to be compared with Rush (who was better than Fowler and Owen put together, just look at his record 346 goals in 660 appearances) .

More concerning was Hendersons Radar which was well off and his covering and protection of TAA (he can obviously do the talk, but can he now walk the walk?, only time will tell), like the majority of posters wanted a top, top class midfielder, i believe we have that calibre of player there now in TAA, feel the time is now right to push him forward especially if the new right back Ramsay and Mabaya or even Joe Gomez can settle into the right back position, the time is right now to unleash him into midfield, and who knows we may well have a goal scoring midfielder, although Jurgen always prefers "water carriers" in his teams.

All in all a very promising start, which hopefully will only get better, the strength of teams benches will prove to be the outcome of so many trophies with the new rule changes, as the amount of games is colossal, just hope our midfield strength doesn't turn out to be what we win and don't win this season.

WDW you’ll be pleased to read Mr Bond delivering your Daily Midfielder.

Unfortunately as in all walks of life, it's the idiots/ morons that always grab the headlines and therefore usually tarnish the name of everyone.

31 Jul 2022 13:11:33
@007 - did you ever see Rush play live?

31 Jul 2022 13:24:15
I absolutely loved that passion that Nunez showed after he scored.
The South American players are something else.
If Klopp works his magic and gets his confidence up, goals will be flying in left, right and centre.

Hello West Derby Wanderer, "Did i see Rush live" being aged 67 now, and having a season ticket in the old main stand Row 23 Seat Number 209, started off standing on a stool aged 10 in the corner of the Anfield Road, then onto the boys pen and Kop as i went older, weekly seen all the great teams since the mid 60s, went to all the away games on the "ordinary" as it was then called (the "John Wayne" for supporters who don't know, what the "ordinary" was) .

Best team, the team that won the FA Cup for the first time in 1965, Second Best team the First Red European Cup Winners in 1977, which i went to by the infamous train that took three days to get there, and missed the homecoming.

Can safely say i have seen many LFC players and happy times and so many, many trophies, wouldn't change it for anything. Hope all future LFC Fans have similar "happy times".

YNWA.

007. Where would u rank the present team in your time supporting club?

31 Jul 2022 15:15:13
Wdw vs 007 ???.

Hello Digger10, That's a corker of a question?, i have gone by Sentiment regards best teams Shankly is my favourite manager of all time, Sir Bob the Best LFC Manager ever, will change that to Sir Jurgen if he equals Sir Bobs record of Three European Cups.

The newer LFC fan was amazed with Sir Jurgens "pressing game", this was how Sir Bob played in the 80s, Hansen and Lawrenson used to press and squeeze the opposition into their own half then, would not allow them into our half.

England ladies have just scored with a "DINK" over the keeper, should Nunez have done that yesterday with his "one on one"?

Nice one 007, I’m of a similar ilk, first game was 1960/ 61 on my dads shoulders, although I was 3 so don’t remember it.

I asked the question because Rushie was a brilliant goal scorer / hanger but he was also a brilliant first line of defence chasing down defenders, putting pressure on them and chasing back. Elements of last season’s front 3.

Like your choices of managers by the way. Question for you, in your time watching who were the most notable opposition managers - favourite, best and most annoying, as categories perhaps ….
