Hello ed1 hope u keeping well? looking at our fixtures to start season, our first 3 games we'll spaced out.9 days between 1st game and 2nd and 7 days between 2nd and 3rd. games get more congested after that like it will do for all teams playing in Europe. In them first 3 games would u go your strongest 11 to start in all 3, or would u rotate hoping rest will be beneficial down the line.

{Ed001's Note - with the ability to make 5 subs, there is no real reason not to go all in.}

Whatever way klopp goes about it i think it crucial we start well and don't let city get ahead of us, as we have seen virtually impossible to catch them if they get ahead. I think he will go full strength in them 3 games apart from possibly bobby starting at Fulham instead of nunez.

I agree digger. We’ve practically got to win every game until the gap is massive. I can’t see us winning a tight race, the only way is like 2019, and go on a massive winning run from the first game until the gap is unrealistic for City. I actually think we can aswel.

We’ve been top of the league for a couple of Xmas days as well and still not won the league. City are an exceptionally good side once on top and also chasing.

Yes people can mention the year we won it and we actually dominated that season but there’s been at least another 3 where City have either caught us or lead and we were unable to catch them.

Only way to put City to bed is to be as close to a perfect season as possible to get them points on the board.

The way to beat City is to play well and beat them in the league. I don’t think we played well in either PL game v City last year. Our biggest players have to turn up for these fixtures and most of them didn’t. Fabs for example was a mile off.

The way to win the League is to play at the same high levels we know we can produce whoever the opponent is.

We didn’t lose to City last season but dropped our levels against the ‘lesser’ teams.

Each game played like it’s a semi final of a major cup for me.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s impossible to play at such an optimum level every game. City don’t play well every week nor did the conquering Man Utd sides Ferguson managed. The human body can only do so much, human biology can’t be vanquished by people saying we’ve got to put a super human effort into every game. There are always nuances that will occur that can’t be overcome.

This season will not be just citeh. There will spurs, ManU, arsenal, chelsea as well.

I would think the same Leek, but there will always be a bogie team like West Ham were last year or Leicester the previous to make it more interesting. Everyone here in Nottingham thinks it will be Forest, although I'm not convinced. With all the squad strengthening between the top 6 teams, this season should make for an eventful one!

If you produced your absolute best all the time, it wouldn’t be your best anymore and would then become the norm.

Just in reply to mine I said as close to a perfect season (league) as possible. You don’t have to be at your best to win every game but winning them is key. Many a team that’s won the title have won plenty of games playing poorly.

I disagree, humbly. The thing is that you can play well against City and still lose so just playing well won't cut it, IMO. What we have to do (which is what we have done in the past 2 games) is go for the throat from the off. Start fast, set the tempo early esp in the press to let them know what type of game they are in. If you just play well against them (which we have in the past), we will lose, just like we did at the Etihad in 18/ 19.

We played like this in 19/ 20 not just vs City (who we battered 3-1 at Anfield) BUT vs every team in the first half of that season and the league was pretty much wrapped up by Christmas. This is the way to go, IMO.
