Shocking performance yesterday I was at the game and Klopp was furious for the best part of 90 mins
They defended the wings terribly (TAA) and the midfield was overrun by the Fulham midfield until Harvey Elliott came on, Thiago was dreadful, and contributed side and backwards passing only.
Nunez has to start in my opinion, this season, he will be the focal point and we have to get the ball out to the wings and feed the forward line with decent crosses, we didn’t do that yesterday and Fulham capitalised
City would beat that Fulham side 3 or 4 nil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Need more legs in the midfield. No surprise Klopp took Fab off for Milner; we were lacking mobility in the centre of the park and getting overrun with the high press.

As I said before the season started; we will not win the league with this midfield and I do not have the same excitement or anticipation that I have had for the last few years. Who knows though, maybe KDB will get injured for City and level the playing field a bit.

Nunez def has to start over Firmino, thought Klopp would have learned that after the comm shield but probs presumed we’d have enough to beat Fulham so thought he would ease him in. Have to be honest though, as good as Nunez’ movement is, his first touch and general composure on the ball in build up play look like there is a concerning amount of improvement needed.

Credit where it’s due though, Fulham had the best game they will have all season. Mitrovic bullied Matip and Virgil and both our fullbacks were poor.

Love Diaz but we need 20 plus goals/ assists from him in all comps this year in order to realistically view him as a success.

@Josh, cracking first paragraph mate. I love irony and bringing a 37 year old on because we needed more legs is just about as ironic as it gets.

On a general note the (I’ll informed) over thinking is brilliant entertainment. 1 game down, 37 to go and we have amped up the hysteria already.

As mental as the statement sounds though that despite age Milner gave more legs than Fab and he proves it every year in pre season that his fitness is off the charts.

In my opinion Fab is a much better player than Milner but Fab was not having a good game yesterday and deserved to be replaced.

When Milner came on it did give us more legs.

Likening Milner's legs to an average 37-year-old is lazy.

Milner coming on to literally change the game in midfield is true testament of how awful we were in midfield as a group till he came on along with Elliott and Fabio. Also, a new midfielder will NOT make up for lack of application, desire, sense of urgency etc. That is a myth and irrational thinking, IMO.

I agree with you Oli but if your senior players are having an off-day or are injured, you’re then throwing the kids into a bear pit atmosphere.
The EPL games are turning more and more into a battle, teams are well prepared, often better rested, well set up.
We all know that going behind in these types of matches can be so difficult to retrieve.
And there’s barely any wriggle room with results now too.
If Klopp doesn’t want another midfielder that’s fine but he has to use the squad.

What other choices did he have yesterday in order to use the squad?

07 Aug 2022 17:41:22
Juicer, he DID use the squad by bringing in the players who changed the game and rescued a point. I don’t see what you’re saying here?

07 Aug 2022 21:54:46
He did mate yes, but that’s my point.
The bench is going to contain younger players who will have to contribute and battle in difficult situations.
A point was ok in the circumstances but there’s a lot of games between now and May.
