One for Ed002
Just on the back of discussions on the current CB situation about Konate, Matip replacement and SVDB.
I recall when we got Konate we were also linked with Upamecano. Both were at RB Liepzig, both the same age and both left around the same time in 2021.
In your valued opinion, did we get the wrong player? I mean Upamecano is a starter for France while Konate isn't.
Just curious
Thanks in advance and thanks for your contributions ?.
{Ed002's Note - Neither have been great.}

Konate far better, needs to stay fit though.

Bayern fans were blaming Upamecano for their leaky defence last season.

A very good problem for the manager to have. 33 year old VVD, 21 year old Quansah, A not wanted SVB, unfit Konate. In dream land I must say.

I've not seen a great deal of Upamacano play, maybe about 10 games between Bayern and France, but he's never impressed me in any game. Always looks a bit nervous, and didn't seem very good on the ball at all. Konate definitely seems the better player, but needs to start making it through a season injury-free before his career slips away from him.

I know Jota plays a lot of FIFA and Konate is a big anime/ manga buff. Are some of these players too sedentary off the pitch and creating their own musculatory issues?
If so, shouldn’t they be receiving better advice as to how they look after themselves off the pitch.
Long gone are the days when all we had to worry about were players getting absolutely hammered before and after the game (and still playing out of their skins) .

Upamecano has a mistake in him and it happens regularly as Bayern have found out.

too much FIFA? buahahahahahahahhahahahaa I mean it could be and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere too. But this one is up there with my mum saying the players spend too much time doing their hair, that's why they can't kick the ball properly :D.

For Jota, I can see it happening actually since he is known to play FIFA late into the night even if he has a game the next day. He is effectively compromising his rest and rehab which does lead to more injuries.

I hope Jota doesn't sit to close to the tele otherwise he'll end up with square eyes.

Upamecano is poor.

Playing video games late into the night and not getting enough sleep is one thing, sitting for long periods of time hunched over your controller is terrible for your hips and your posterior chain in general, I think that would probably be a bigger problem for an elite athlete.

And upamecano…why he starts over Ibou i don’t really know, I haven’t seen him play a decent game internationally or in the CL since he left Leipzig personally, Bayern started a petition to plead for the club not to sell de ligt of all people, can’t imagine they’d do the same for upamecano.

Ed’s has explained our interest in Hincape, Pacho and we will hopefully add to our CB options before the season starts.
