I get everyone is asking about transfers and comings and going's. but just to change things up a bit. people's favourite player for us? Not best player but favourite player?
I'm 45 years old and seen some absolutely class on show over the years but I'll kick things off with my pick . Bobby ? what a player and absolutely loves Liverpool and mo and mane would never have achieved the numbers they had without Bobby., ?? Gerrard was a close 2nd but Bobby was just so special and went a little bit under the radar in my opinion. ?.
{Ed077's Note - Torres for me. Torres in his prime for LFC

I’ve been a Liverpool fan for 30 years give or take, and the player I idolised the most growing up will probably be an unpopular one- McManaman ?. I played on the wing because of him, and I will admit to watching him play at Real even though he left us under acrimonious circumstances. I would say that besides choosing Macca for sentimental reasons, Fowler would be an obvious pick, and Xabi was always a joy to watch spraying passes from deep.
I would probably say that overall the best player I have seen play for Liverpool is Virgil at the height of his powers, though, when he was switched on he was in my opinion the most awe inspiring player in world football, a one man back four who could outpace and outmuscle anybody, was never caught out of possession or dribbled past, could win any battle in the air or the ground and with a ridiculous range of passing. So I think that my final answer would probably be Virgil.

Bobby is a great choice.
Fowler for me.
27 Jul 2024 03:35:09
John Barnes without a shadow of doubt.
27 Jul 2024 04:44:50
Alonso was my fav player. Loved the way he could spray balls from deep and he always seemed to be a few steps ahead of everyone else on the pitch.
27 Jul 2024 05:09:07
Good question. Tough to narrow down. Probably Danny Murphy. He wasn't here all that long, but just my kind of player. I'm just old enough to have caught the end of Jan Molby's time at the club, so he's a close second.
In recent years, Bobby and Milner have been right up there too.
27 Jul 2024 05:50:12
A will join in on this point lads a will go with Alan hansen he always seemed to have time on the ball rarely flustered.
27 Jul 2024 06:16:39
Molby for me.
27 Jul 2024 06:24:34
Torres for me too. He made me fall in love with lfc. and football. and then left us.
27 Jul 2024 06:31:04
A player who doesn't get the recognition he deserves, played throughout the eighties won won it all in that era, ronnie whelan.
27 Jul 2024 06:35:47
Favourite player was Steve McManaman, what he could with a ball was amazing. Another was Stig Inge Bjournebye, not a popular player but I loved him as wingback, his crossing was spot on. Always remember the cross for Neil Ruddock in the 3-3 against Man U.
Current squad my fav player is MacAllister.
27 Jul 2024 07:01:23
I was so happy when John Barnes signed for us. He was an amazing signing. I just loved watching him play.
27 Jul 2024 07:05:15
Graeme Souness. Absolutely giant in the middle, could do the lot, if you wanted a game of football he’d be the best on the pitch, if you wanted a fight he’d give you that too. Didn’t shy away from a challenge and you could tell his team mates respected him and opposing players feared him. Best midfielder ever to play for the club.
27 Jul 2024 07:05:47
Suarez for me, just an absolute beast. Current player would be Elliot.
27 Jul 2024 07:12:11
Tough choice between fowler and Bobby but I’m probably going for Fowler.
If I could pick my favourite player for one specific season it would be Suarez for that 13/ 14 season. Watching him that season was joyous. 31 goals and 17 assists in 33 games. With a collection of absolute bangers.
27 Jul 2024 07:12:58
Ian rush for me. Another player who doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.
He will likely be our record goal scorer forever.
27 Jul 2024 07:22:11
I'm a left footer so I always like a lefty doing well in the team. I loved Riise, Agger, and Salah still obviously but my fav during what was a pretty dark time for LFC other than the title challenge one year, was Sturridge. Such a shame that he likely won't be remembered that well because of being overshadowed by Suarez a lack of real success during his time and his body breaking down, but I thought he was great. Rapid, great finisher, long shots, link up play etc. In his prime I reckon he'd be out current teams No.9 no problem, no disrespect to Nunez or course. He was one of those, sort of like Origi and Jota, who you just knew was going to score because that's what he did. Loved him. Always remember his nonchalant chip v Newcastle and when he were struggling v Chelsea - don't worry, get the ball 25 yards - no problems I'll just belt that in the opposite top corner. Lovely.
27 Jul 2024 07:34:51
McManaman, gerrard and bobby for me.
27 Jul 2024 07:43:33
John barnes. Poetry in motion.
{Ed025's Note - marvelous player Digger..
27 Jul 2024 07:47:28
Bobby for me!
27 Jul 2024 07:36:02
Jan Molby back then Bobby now.
27 Jul 2024 08:12:51
Gerrard but Sami Hypia was a close second, absolutely loved how he made defending look so easily…. as a kid I loved tackling and defending so hypia in my eyes was the pinnacle!
{Ed025's Note - you never seen Hansen then i take it MOT?..
27 Jul 2024 08:14:07
Gerrard. gave me hope for a decade. Barnes close 2nd.
27 Jul 2024 08:19:51
Suarez that season was far and away the best player in the league, ridiculous how many times he’d nutmeg a few players and then stick it in the bottom corner. Too bad he was such a (racist, cheating)nut job because I haven’t seen a player play for us who could win games all on his own the way he did. To be fair though the other teams in the league, especially mid table and down, were so much weaker than they are now, so Suarez could score at will against the Norwiches of the world. In that respect I would say salah’s achievements for us mean more, since his goals came against much stronger defences. He was just as unstoppable as peak Suarez in his first season, too.
Sturridge in his pomp was some player too, he had every kind of finish, could link up excellently with others and could create separation so easily, that signature move of his where he would drop a shoulder, fake a shot or dribble one way and then smash the ball into the far post with the other leg, sometimes outside the box, was amazing.
27 Jul 2024 08:21:31
I can’t say anyone but Kenny. Not one of the other names would be favourite over him. Love the man.
I could easily have said any of the other names and more but in terms of “favourite” - I don’t think anyone will ever take that crown.
{Ed025's Note - a good man and a great player Ron..
27 Jul 2024 08:29:16
John Barnes, Xabi Alonso and Peter Beardsley, in that order for me.
27 Jul 2024 08:36:39
70s: Terry McDermott
80s: Ronnie Whelan
90s: Jan Molby
00s: Sami Hyppia
10s: Luis Suarez
20s: Trent Alexander-Arnold.
27 Jul 2024 08:47:43
Barnes or Beardsley both brilliant.
27 Jul 2024 09:08:17
Ill be speaking from a more mature point of you, older than most on here i think. Kevin Keegan was my first hero, what a player. Sir Kenny Dalglish, had everything except pace, but all round player, leader, Grame Souness, had eveything in the middle, gave everything for the team, Class.
{Ed025's Note - 3 of my favourites as well stevie..
27 Jul 2024 09:18:57
Torres 100%. As a kid, I had the posters on the wall, I kept a shiny Torres Match Attax card with me, I did my school projects about him etc. He was Liverpool’s iconic number 9 whilst I was 13-16 years old and so I even modelled my own game on him and still do to this day. I don’t think I’ll ever allow myself to feel the same with another player ever again though because it broke my young heart when he left the club. Lesson well learned, that footballers are temporary and the club is what is permanent.
27 Jul 2024 09:48:33
Great question. Very difficult as we’ve been very lucky to have had so many great players over the years - but for me it’s Souness.
He had everything. A genuinely world class player and as hard as f’ing nails.
27 Jul 2024 09:51:48
Nobody remember Tommy Smith.
27 Jul 2024 09:54:29
Michael Owen before I realised what a bell end he is.
27 Jul 2024 10:03:47
From your neck of the woods isn't he finglas?.
27 Jul 2024 10:13:52
I want to say Barnes, because he could literally do anything. Then there is Gerrard . wow. And Torres for two seasons was unstoppable, that volley against Blackburn!
But none of these compare to my favourite, absolutely genius on the ball, a bullet of a shot and impossible to bully off the ball. And that’s just considering his achievements as a player. Not as a manager (with two clubs) . Not as a man, and what a truly great man he is.
My all-time favourite, the King, Kenny Dalglish.
27 Jul 2024 11:04:39
Kenny. Cause he was a class act. Sounesss cause he made our midfield his own. Barnes cause he was poetry in motion. Hansen cause as a Centre back he was everything I wish I could’ve been but wasn’t.
27 Jul 2024 12:21:46
Bruce Grobelaar for me, oh wait no, John Barnes or Stevie G. Damn it, too hard this one.
27 Jul 2024 16:15:34
Emlyn Hughes. What a warrior and player.
Of the premier league era, that's tough. So many greats. Alonso was just pure class and so easy on the eye but Macca was the one I use to love watch playing, pity he is a toss pot tho ?.
27 Jul 2024 21:03:49
Nothing between Salah, Suarez, Gerrard and Torres.
Consistently match winners.
27 Jul 2024 22:31:03
John Arne Riise is up there for me, absolute bullet of a shot on him.
