LFC-S MANGO has written an article entitled, Defensive Midfield Options For Liverpool FC

Zubimendi, varela, gomez (wolves) are just 3 possibilities but id like zubimendi personally.

Strongly disagree there, LFC-S MANGO.
Ederson or Varela would improve us. We have the ability and funds to do one of those deals.
As for Trent in midfield - quite simply, there is no time to turn him into a midfielder this summer. And even then, why would you take a generational right back out of right back to play as an above average midfielder? Lastly, Trent needs a season to back to basics where he is a team member rather than THE secret weapon in a system. He should do that at right back. His peripheral vision, scanning, short passing game and awareness in midfield needs a lot of work on the training ground if he is to ultimately move into midfield.

Not sure Trent is a number 6 on his own, but as an Alonso type player next to a Mascherano type, is a possibility.

I have long been a proponent of Trent at CM, but honestly I saw enough at the euros with Trent in a two to think it might not be a great idea. Admittedly he didn't really have many runners to pick out in the England team but international footy is so poor standard and he didn't do much so that doesn't bode well for top level club footy.
Slot plays both fullbacks inverted apparently so that could mean Trent moves from RB to the right side of the defensive 3 in midfield, which could be interesting, but full time there I'm not longer convinced. I trust slot and the coaching team to get the best out of him.

Is there anything to playing Trent RW or taking Salahs spot in the team long term.
You would have Bradley as your bombing overlapping RB. Trent could go to his favourite half space on the right dropping back from the wing creating space for Bradley down the wing and this could dovetail with allowing Szoboslai or Elliott to move into the inside forward kind of role on that side from the right 8.
I know it seems a bit weird but I thought of this a while ago while thinking of how to get Trent and Bradley into the same XI. To me on paper makes sense but would be happy for people to debate it.
{Ed002's Note - Nobody is going to play TAA as a winger.}

Not saying they should ed, but it takes out as much need of being exposed with balls over the top in a defensive area or dealing with back post crosses, 2 of his weak points, while allowing him to get to the same areas where he is most effective. Also allows Bradley in the same team. If you remove calling it a RW and just talking about how the right side of the pitch would work with the 3 players operating there I think it at least on paper could work. Would be interested to hear why you don't though.
{Ed002's Note - if it is just exposed balls, then it is a matter of underwear choices.}

I agree with you Ed02, but have you been drinking?

Nice one, LFC MAngo. Finally someone who is actually providing names of actual human beings who play the DM positions that we can get and spark an actual debate rather than the usual "Oh, a Rodri type player would really. " do this or that knowing full well there is only one Rodri he he ain't coming here.

Ederson is the best of the lot by a long way, he’s physically strong, technically good, defensively sound and he has a great football brain on him. Not going to happen though.
As for Trent, never a defensive midfielder in a million years. Right back, absolutely, right midfielder possibly, but as a screen in front of the defence, absolutely not.

I think it's worth a try pickle. I have said a couple of time on here you could have Bradley and Trent swapping positions throughout the game quite easily to confuse the opposition and then under/ overlapping each other. Probably absolute madness but your not the only one that has thought it.
