The Times are reporting that RS aren’t willing to negotiate on the transfer fee for Zubimendi (the fee or payment terms) and the release clause must be paid in full to release him from his contract.

In the past the club have preferred to go with payment terms where possible, I think we did this with Szbozslai instead of paying a release clause (I may be wrong! )

Are Liverpool in a financial position to be able to pay the clause upfront? Do people think this is something that the club are willing to do?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would want to negotiate spreading the payments out - anything else could impact any other proposed purchases. Typically clubs will look to paying an additional amount to ease the payment terms.}

ed2 - can you explain the difference between buyout and release clause and how the payments would typically work between buying club, player and the selling club?

and further, assuming MZ has a buyout clause in his contract, does that make it negotiating spreading the payments out more of a challenge?

{Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to explaining again, but to work it needs the clubs to agree on the transfer, the fee and how it is to be be paid. Typically they do.}

What’s your gut feeling Ed002?

Looks like Sociedad have no interest in selling and so it seems like somewhat of a dead end. Unless it’s still a bit of posturing and manoeuvring.

{Ed002's Note - My gut feeling is that once the two criteria have been met the transfer will go ahead. Liverpool should perhaps get a professional negotiator to help out.}

Just to add to the payment in full scenario, Ed002 explained last year (around the Szoboszlai scenario) that we can use a financial organisation to essential borrow the money.

Very rough figures, if we need to fund €60m, we could borrow it to pay to the selling club and then pay back (say) €22m a year over 3 years.

This is my concern. the club seem to faff around so much getting transfers over the line. I'm not saying we should be buying like Chelsea, but they seem to identify their targets, put in the offers and get the deals done, as do most teams. we seem to drag negotiations out

Chelsea sing 12 players, we struggle to get one deal over the line.

FSG are saving up to buy a new football team.

Professional negotiator eh? Fancy offering your services Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I would be the last person they need. I am far too nice.}

Viktor, I'd be willing to throw my hat in the ring. I went to Tenerife once and negotiated the purchase of a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses for €30 off a guy on the beach. Absolute steal.
I just need to get in touch with Ray Ban and negotiate a refund after they fell apart after 3 days.

We could always draft in Samuel L Jackson as the negotiator

Isn’t he also a LFC fan.

KarlG, chelsea took almost an entire transfer window trying to get Caicedo, that's how we were able to steal a march and put in our failed bid. Using them as an example probably isn't the wisest. Also, do you want to end up like them, with a huge squad of players who all want to be in the first team, but who all fit different styles of playing, meaning that the coach can't fully make use of the team that he has?

"Liverpool should look to getting a professional negotiator"

Richard Hughes is crying right now.

Nevada, Ice Cube once claimed he was the king of the diss with No Vaseline, but I think Ed002 might beat him on that one. Lovely stuff.

12 Aug 2024 17:30:39
This Hughes guy is well out of his depth ? who have we hired here! Shambles.

12 Aug 2024 16:56:42
Thanks for the info as always ed002 ??.

12 Aug 2024 17:52:03
@Patrikburgher - no I said I'm not saying i want us to do chelsea and buy loads of players, what i mean is it seems they can identify their targets and they get the deals done usually without fuss.

I'd like to see 2 players come in (maybe 3 depending on potential sales)

12 Aug 2024 18:01:32
Stuie i laughed at that one ?.

12 Aug 2024 18:26:45
Hang on LFC8 how on earth do you know that about Hughes?

From what I understand there were lots of teams interested in Zubimendi including Bayern, Barcelona, Chelsea and Utd. The fact they he’s not at any of those clubs either must mean that they are out of their depth too?

Don’t make inflammatory assertions from a position of complete ignorance mate it’s not a good look.

12 Aug 2024 18:40:49
Well Hughes will be judged on players purchase and sale @Becker and so far he has been a flop. What is that you don’t get?

12 Aug 2024 18:53:04
Inflammatory assertions ? do you speak like that at the game? I cannot fathom how Mohammed Salah has not converted those opportunities! He’s left me feeling belligerent and pugnacious.
Banter page mate. Chill out a bit.
