A lot of noise coming from the ITKs saying that we won’t be going for another No6, I hope this is just bargaining and posturing and this isint true.
Whilst I don’t believe in buying for the sake of buying the DM position is a priority and a glaring weakness and I don’t believe for 1 second that there isint an alternative option out there which is attainable.
We’ve heard for years that Liverpool are well organised in transfers, have a list of targets for each position and are quick to move to the next targets when needed ala Salah transfer.
There’s credit in the bank from my side but these recent episode is testing my faith so let’s wait and see the clock is ticking!

I don’t believe in the sake of buying also, but there is zero credit in the bank for me. We have been awful in the transfer market for a long time. Even straight forward deals appear to be laboured and that buck stops with the owners.

I don't remember that being bandied around when we were signing Mac, Szob, Nunez etc.
I seen to remember Mac being heralded as the signing of the season.
But hey, if that doesn't fit your narrative then more power to you.

It wasn't long ago that if we were to buy a number 6 it was to push Endo on. We haven't signed one yet and people's heads are falling off.
Endo will have to do a bit more or another squad member will need to push him on.

I wanted a DM as well if only to partner Macca or whoever in the pivot but since Slot doesn’t actually use one then, what can one do? Also if Zubimendi is a Macca regen as Ed01 says then, it is clear Slot wants two technicians in the pivot whose technical ability outweigh whatever lapses they may have defensively.
This why Endo almost got sold to OM cos Slot doesn’t fancy a player like him in the pivot. Seems Slot is going to have rethink his plan esp. if there are more signings in midfield indeed.

As Macca is by a distance our best midfielder I wouldn’t mind another one. It was hilarious last October when many posters had Jones in the team ahead of Macca. I don’t know what half the posters watch on this site.

markp08, at that point in the season, Macca was struggling playing as the DM and Jones was performing well so it was based on the form of the players then. Did you forget that for half of last season, some posters were already calling Macca the flop of the season?
Besides, Jones did play the role Macca was playing relatively well the previous season and for the England U-21s and I believe the suggestion then was to swap their positions rather than having Jones outrightly replace Macca.

Macca is not our best in my view.
The popular opinion on Macca is because of few good looking goals at the end of season.
Also in the first half he was out of his depth in the deeper role. Once he was moved to further up and Endo behind cleaning up, he is looking like world beater in some fans opinion which he is not.

@Markp. Macca was playing poorly because he was playing out of position and Jones was in a purple patch. As we were on quite a winning streak at the time you were nowhere to be found at the time.

No point buying for the sake of buying. Slot doesn’t want a destroyer at the 6 he wants a ball playing midfielder there. So to me if we don’t sign anyone then double Pivot will be Grav and Mac with Jones rotating in there with Bajetic if he stays and maybe Endo. The team put out against Sevilla looks like the team that’ll play against Ipswich to me with maybe Elliot replacing Dom.

Flash the Red… those are necessity buys to replace the flurry out of outgoing players. You sell a player that’s one thing but we fail to supplement the squad with quality. I think of the quality Utd sides of the 90s and Mourinho’s first stint at Chelsea he kept them competitive and kept them winning. So yes, when we have a glaring need in the transfer market we are woeful. The DM debacle and CB fiasco of a few years back are evidence. Triggering a few release clauses last year doesn’t change that Mr Flash in the pan.

The transfers that we do literally can't win. When we do make transfers that are solid, they are dismissed as being necessary to replace the ones that leave. When we sell players to make space for new ones, those are dismissed as being evidence of our "sell to buy" model. Any others we make, are dismissed as being panic buys or us going for "cheap" options. Any transfers that we don't do, is us falling short and not showing ambition. Everything we do just has to have a negative frame attached to it.

Drac i don't think its a case of winning or losing mate.
The club couldn't give two hoots on whether posters on a banter site believe their signings are great or necessary to replace.
Its all just opinions at the end of the day which makes this site what it is.
I don't agree with a lot of what Victor and Frode say but i still enjoy reading their posts.
And they post without using insults to other posters.

I've calmed down a bit JK but thanks for replying. I was a bit worked up because some people are just never happy and satisfied with what the club does and it does annoy me sometimes. Every transfer has to have a negative frame attached to it. I am not asking for them to be overly positive but a bit of balance would be appreciated.
