Diaz’s dad piping up again about Barcelona, im absolutely sick of the man, get diaz gone ASAP! If he had any respect for the club he would tell his dad to keep his mouth shut. I know Gordon isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but at least he wants to play for the club!

Jk red where have you seen this too mate. I can’t see anything online.

Being healed accountable for your Dad’s actions seems a tad unfair. As long as he always gives 100% in training and in games (which so far he does), who gives a sh@t.

I saw that image floating on Twitter. The problem is nobody is offering us €70 mill for Diaz. And unfortunately we are not forward planning on this position.

In hindsight, if he wanted a move to Spain it probably wasn't a good idea to sign a 5 year deal in the North of England. He's contracted until 2027 and it looks like Barcelona aren't really that interested in him so he'll have to suck it up and prove next season why they should be interested in him if he wants the move so badly. Which will hopefully only be a good thing for us.

I couldn't find anything new as well so my guess is that it's an old story that's making the rounds again.

Get rid of a player because of rumours over something his Dad is saying?
What happened to free speech etc? Is that allowed everywhere else but not around LFC?
15 Aug 2024 10:14:17
Some of the Catalan papers have suggested that Barcelona want Diaz and have offered Liverpool a cash plus player deal, how true that is I don't know.
15 Aug 2024 10:24:14
Flash, I don't think people are trying to silence his Dad and suppress his right to free speech. I think it more the annoyance some people feel after everything the club did for him and his family, dad included and it could be taken as a sign of disrespect to the club. Also, it's likely his dad wouldn't be saying those things without his son's blessing or at least his son sharing the same thoughts.
15 Aug 2024 10:26:23
He wouldn’t get in Barcelona’ team. And to be honest he’s not in my first 11 for Liverpool either.
But do I want to sell him. No Chance! Because Hughes can’t get anyone in.
15 Aug 2024 10:52:09
No one said his father isn't allowed to say it flash. He is free to say what he wants but there are consequences. I think it is perfectly reasonable for fans not to like it and to want players who actually want to be at the club.

Diaz could simply come out and crush all this nonsense dead. He has not done that till date so he’s prolly okay with his dad doing the work for him while he says in public that he is happy here.
15 Aug 2024 11:49:39
That's actually a really good point to be fair, Boogaloo. Freedom of speech isn't the same as freedom of consequence. Diaz's dad can say what he wants but if Diaz continues to use his Dad as a mouthpiece in the press, he can't really complain if some sections of the fan base turn on him. Especially when his current Premier league record since signing is 4 goals, 4 goals and 8 goals. Albeit the first year he joined in January and the second year he had a knee injury, but however you dress it up, he's not been good enough to be this ungrateful. Considering the support we gave him during his injury rehabilitation but also his parents being in serious danger, a bit of respect wouldn't go amiss.
I do think he'll stay though and I am optimistic he might have his best season yet for us, regardless of the noise. He's 27 now so coming into his prime and hopefully fully over the knee injury and the trauma of the kidnap situation. Barcelona can't easily afford him and don't seem that desperate to make a deal happen, and I can't imagine his family will be any happier in Saudi Arabia. So we should try and get behind the lad now, as hard as his Dad's comments are making it to do so.
15 Aug 2024 12:15:48
Of course there are consequences.
Some members on a banter site feel disrespected.
Move on.
15 Aug 2024 12:23:02
I’m not sure Diaz is using his dad as a mouthpiece. Respect for your elders is big in South America and so his father could be saying all this without Diaz being part of it.
15 Aug 2024 12:34:55
If Barcelona want him we'll take gavi plus cash ?.
15 Aug 2024 12:49:01
He didn't pipe up either. He was asked a question and answered it.
I would answer 'yes' if asked would I be happy for my son to play for Man United.
In fact it would be a 'dream' because he's rubbish at football ?.
15 Aug 2024 13:09:55
It's a bit like people saying we missed out on zubimendi and therefore FSG has no ambition.
Diaz dad makes some comments and therefore Luis is using his dad as his mouth piece and therefore he deserves kickback.
We obviously are far removed from it. but I feel like we've seen far worse sagas play out - Raheem, Suarez come to mind.
15 Aug 2024 13:24:24
So Diaz's dad is allowed to say what he wants but he has to be careful not to upset posters on this site that regularly slag Diaz and his father off?
And what are those "consequences" exactly if he does, posters will slag him some more? Yeah, that'll teach him.
I'm also not too sure about a father/ son relationship where the son controls everything the father says. I can tell you for sure what my old man would have said to me if I'd have been in the habit of telling him to curb his speech. And he'd have been correct too.
15 Aug 2024 14:50:55
I do also think we forget that most of these players don't think of the club and love it as us fans do. Yeah maybe he does owe us a bit more respect etc but at the end of the day he's living his life and guiding his career as he sees fit, nobody else matters but yourself in reality within modern society.
I'm contracted in my job, I still look for new ones every day the only difference is my arl fella isn't the one telling the world I fancy it elsewhere?
