@Longthing did Slot or anybody representing Liverpool FC say that they were going to win the PL. if you, and others, can’t get behind the team 2 days before the start of the season, then why bother at all?
We go with what we’ve got on Saturday and we don’t whine about ‘what if, ‘could have’, ‘should have’ as it’s pointless.

When Klopp arrived the stadium needed improving.
Training ground needed improving.

Slot is inheriting a much MUCH better squad than Klopp did.

This doesn’t necessarily mean he is a “yes man” this squad is full of quality and far better talent than he has ever managed before. The team finished third last season and was in the hun until the last 8 weeks when the fatigue caught up, I believe this team can challenge though top 3 and a trophy run would be a very good first season.
I am more concerned about the contracts of TAA, mo and VVD than ingoings, hopefully these are being concluded in the background and club is planning a big announcement of the three.
If we’re not playing a typical no 6 it might not be a big deal that we’re not signing one, so if none of our big players leave we are well covered for the season ahead. Yes of course I would like us to sign a VVD and Mo understudy, but maybe just maybe our preferred options aren’t available yet?

Well I am very happy with what he said @MK. Atleast he had the balls to come out and say he would like to win the league this season unlike the posters who are hanging on to “A top 4 and good cup run” trophy. Of all the new faces I like him the most.

Just let it play out and see how it plays out. But one things for sure it's a big gamble. The funny thing is Hughes won't bare the brunt of it if the gamble doesn't pay off. Slot will.

Klopp was an amazing man manager who could get average players to over perform and run through walls for him. Over time he improved the quality of the squad to the point we are at now.
From what I have seen Slot is a class above when it comes to coaching and tactics. I'm not concerned going into the new season in the slightest and I think we will surprise a lot of people and I genuinely believe we can challenge for the title like we did last season (yes we fell short but were top with a handful of games to go) .
I would love to see us sign a couple of players who can improve the side but I'm not concerned in the slightest about Slot or the players he currently has at his disposal. I think we lack cover in places but I don't think we are lacking in first team quality.
Also, Slot isn't an idiot, he's not going to put doubts into the players heads about their ability when the season is about to start.

We came third last season in a three horse race, Utd and Chelsea were hopeless, Spurs did a Spurs and Villa had their golden season.
But if Utd and Chelsea get their houses in order 3rd may be a lot more difficult than it was last season.
However, Maybe Slot is a better manager than Klopp was for the last couple of seasons and he can turn the same team into title winners, we'll have to wait and see.

To be fair it is very difficult to improve on the squad
It is also very difficult to get top players with options to agree to new contracts.
The Liverpool DOF position is not an easy one. You need to be a really talented negotiator, planner, forward thinking, proactive person who works incredibly hard and doesn't say things like July will be quiet and then there'll be activity in August.
I do like Slot though. I worry that he promises the stars and moon but I do love his optimism. Top four from him will do me for first season particularly as he may be working with the same squad and just getting started.

I agree Mark that the squad could be improved with 1-2 signings and contracts renewed. But it still takes a very skilled operator pulling the strings to make that happen.

Fair enough Davey. Edward’s only seemed interested when he was told he could head the search to buy another club. We must have at least one or two personnel at the club who can facilitate players. We’re supposed to be a top 5 club in world football so let’s hope they show up soon.

We can 100% win the league. Our squad is already stronger than last season with Jota and Bajcetic being fit and raring to go. Elliott and Grav having more experience and another year older.
Last season we played with kids all through Jan and Feb and we’re still top in April. We had the worst refereeing display I’ve ever seen against Spurs and still managed to be top in April. We had injuries to key players all season and still managed to be top in April.
Some of you have very selective memories. You only remember what you want that suits your narrative and you’re pissed that we haven’t signed anyone. It’s not the end of the world, it really isn’t. We are still one of the best teams in the league and with a bit of luck (you always need a bit of luck) we will be up there challenging. Believe.

But I don't want to hear excuses if it goes pear shaped. I'll be supporting them no matter what happens but I won't be tolerating any condescending nonsense along the way. And as for the Spurs game those points would of made no difference at the end of the season it wasn't 10 we dropped.

Jota and Bajetic were both raring to go at the start of last season.
Jota played in 12 of the first 13 games of the season (suspended for one) and Bajetic was in the bench for 4 of the first 5.
But it’s right people do have selective memories to suit their narrative.
