F@$k me.
That's it. VAR can go and and die the most painful death.
Let's forget the dodgy lines for Utd's goal.
But let's please talk about City.
VAR tells the ref to go look at the tackle which resulted in their penalty. but why don't they do the same when Lewis does THE EXACT SAME TACKLE in the City box.
Now please tell me that it's pure incompetence. PLEASE!
24 Aug 2024 16:11:28
115 individual types of incompetence JLC. Nothing to see here.
24 Aug 2024 16:15:29
That's 115 off the field types of incompetence SR. but the fact that it's now so blatant ON THE FIELD is purely disgusting.
24 Aug 2024 16:19:02
All teams had a chance to vote VAR out in the summer when Wolves raised the question.
Sadly not a single team backed them.
24 Aug 2024 16:26:56
JK, VAR isn't the problem. It's the people implementing VAR. They'd still be making dodgy decisions without it.
24 Aug 2024 16:30:18
Is that going to be your answer JK when VAR goes against us?
If we don't question these calls, then we cannot complain when we feel aggrieved by VAR.
Can't wait for Webb spin his excuses on this one.
24 Aug 2024 17:10:12
SR you’re right there mate.
JLC I’ve not seen the decisions or any of todays games so I can’t really give an answer on them If I’m honest. All I said was the clubs had an opportunity to draw their line in the sand in the summer with their votes and the clubs technically bottled it.
It’s pretty evident that managers aren’t happy with VAR as it’s a talking point in more or less every game every week but when push came to shove it was a 100% vote to retain.
Personally I’d love to see it gone.
24 Aug 2024 17:18:05
Fair enough JK. please go and check out the 2 incidents.
I'd love your honest opinion on it.
I just can't help getting so angry about it. its so blatant.
24 Aug 2024 18:27:21
Shocking decision ok, and commentators said it was reviewed by VAR and they agreed No Penalty. Was as blatant as you get, 2 weeks into season and it's about VAR again.
24 Aug 2024 18:41:28
Good process guys nothing to see here.
24 Aug 2024 19:48:35
Didn't see the city game but also thought the lines weren't right for uniteds amad goal. Altho they've been unlucky with the next offside they eventually lost at least.
24 Aug 2024 21:29:01
As SR said, it's the people using it. Coonte was on VAR in the City match. shocking. Not. They said VAR would only intervene if it was a howler from the ref. City's pen didn't meet that criteria. Ref got it right for me the first time. Win some lose some over the season with the decisions is how it used to be and how it should be. We're all human and we all err. It's life. Let the game flow. Hopefully Webb has a word with Coonte.

Are VAR and the 115 charges related?
Like a second gunman on the grassy knoll and false moon landings are related?
25 Aug 2024 06:11:57
They shouldn’t use VAR for anything subjective.
It starts with a subjective call from the on-field ref that then requires the VAR to make a subjective call on the originally subjective decision being a bad enough mistake to consider telling the on-field ref to review their original subjective decision. Which, by that point, we know it’s not the reviewing it at all because by that point that they are mentally framed that they have made a bad mistake and therefore have to change their decision.
Too subjective with too many hooks in it.
Just use it for offside, ball going out of bounds / crossing goal line and maybe for handballs.
Fouls etc should be taken out of it.

Not seen the lines for united goal but it did look off to the naked eye. But just seen the highlight of the city game and thought VAR was meant to be a high bar? That city pen didn’t seem to be clear enough for it to warrant an overturn. And they didn’t show the Lewis one to be able to compare.
25 Aug 2024 09:24:14
I thought it was onside, personally with the naked eye.
25 Aug 2024 09:56:15
You’re wrong WYred
It’s only a high bar if the offence in the penalty area is committed by a City player
If it’s on a City player- anything goes.
25 Aug 2024 10:55:24
I actually think they got them right! The Ipswich tackle he takes his ankle, the city tackle was coming together at the thigh level and whilst yes it could be given but would be pretty soft IMO and I'd be pretty annoyed if that was given against LFC. Hey ho that's the problem with subjectivity and VAR re-reffing the game though!
25 Aug 2024 11:23:50
No prizes as to why they didn't show it Wyred.
At half time, Hargreaves commented that the 2 situations were the same, yet different outcomes!
No mention again of the incident thereafter. ????????.
