Very, very impressed with today's performance. Disciplined, and most of the players looked really happy. Intriguing interview with VVD, by Sky, after the match. Wouldn't be surprised if he moves to Real Madrid, after this season, for one last hurrah. It would probably suit him and I think that he would do really well under Ancelotti. Fingers crossed for our future under Arne.

Think he wants us to make him an offer.

You’re almost egging him on to leave. If he’s good enough for Real we should be keeping him.

John Henry at the game today. Not sure if we can read too much into that.
Hopefully he’s over to get the 3 contracts sorted otherwise there’s a lot of capital walking out of his door for free.

Isn't it a case that Ancelotti leaves Madrid end of the season?
25 Aug 2024 23:10:07
Negative, he is signed on till 2026.
25 Aug 2024 23:15:55
Real Madrid is bigger than Ancelotti though no matter who is in charge.

Looked like he couldn’t control a smile to me, maybe like something may already be in place and just dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s - would do Branthwaite good having VVD as a mentor for 2 years ?.

Salah VVD and TAA's contracts are up, what do you want to happen? We can't make them stay or move on.
Would there be all this hysteria if Salah and VVD retired at the end of the season?
They could even retire and come out of retirement and sign with another club.
We don't own these players.

Did you buy John a pint jk?

Trent's attitude is actually ideal provided he respect's Slot's decision and accepts that the latter is in charge. Players being annoyed to come off is a good thing, never bad, provided they are mature enough to understand why it happened.

I still can't work out if we've not offered Salah, Trent and VVD contracts or they've chosen not to sign them. Maybe a 3rd option of us not offering because they are unlikely to sign.
Either way, it hurts my head to think about it and not have an idea which one it is.

No, Frode, not egging him on to leave But Virgil is an intelligent guy, who will be thirty-four, by the start of the 2025/ 26 season. I imagine that his goal will be to play in the 2026 World Cup, in the US.
The Premier League is a particularly physical one and I am sure that he knows his body better than anybody. He is at an age, where he will likely become increasingly susceptible to major and minor injuries and there is more risk of this occurring in the Premier League than La Liga, imho.
Ed002 previously suggested some interest from Real. I could imagine that VVD would be driven by the new challenge at a team like Madrid and he is definitely an Ancelotti type player. I think that he would be completely wasted in Saudi, at this stage and I think that he is too intelligent for that. Maybe an option after the World Cup, if he is interested in pursuing that path but I can't see that it makes sense before the World Cup.
I would love him to stay for at least a couple more years but whilst he spoke positively about the coming season, there was no hint that his thoughts went beyond this, in contrast with what Allison said during his interview. Perhaps I am reading too much into things and I hope that I am, as I think that he is one of the best players that we have ever had. Time will tell.

I think VVD will leave at the end of the season.

Everything in life has an expiry date. No different in football.
26 Aug 2024 09:08:51
No I just gave him yours.

At 34 come the start of next season, is it a good footballing/ business decision to keep him and at what wages? When you frame it like that then, I doubt the sense in that on the face of it.
