Been a long time reader of posts for a many years now (since probably around 2013-14 as a young lad) . Only just getting around to contributing finally after lurking for so long.
Just want to say a huge thank you to all the Ed's that have continued to thanklessly respond to posts over the years.
Personally, although I would've loved to see more world-class additions to the squad (Zubimendi etc. ) this window, I'm really excited to see what Slot can bring us with the current squad. He's clearly a really down-to-earth, switched on guy and although early days, you can see his impression on the team already. We might not hit the lofty heights of Klopp this season but all we can do is get behind the lads and enjoy the ride.
Wishing each of you all the best over the season - hope the boys can deliver us some of the same magic moments we've been lucky enough to see over the past few years. Ed's thanks again for your tireless work! All the best reds. YNWA.

We are one Gravenberch injury away from seeing Endo (who doesn’t fit in with the play) ahead of our center backs against Real or city. Don’t get me started on Jones and Mc Allister at the base. It’s open and shut case on the need of a top class Deep Midfielder.

Maybe Tyler Morton will get his chance, UA? I think people are sleeping on him big time. Bayer Leverkusen wanted to sign him and they’re no slouches. In fact I’d argue that if anyone in Europe knows a talented “Deep Midfielder” when they see one, it’s probably Alonso.

Don't get you started, UnderArmor?
You've never stopped!

The club were willing to sell Tyler Morton at the right price. He's 22 in October and hasn't exactly made an impact so far. Klopp obviously didn't believe in him. Lead's me to think he won't be the solution.

UnderArmour - Arsenal are a Declan rice injury away from playing 30 yr olds Jorginho or Partey…City are a Rodri injury away from playing 30yr olds Kovacic or Gundogan. What are City going to do if Haaland is out injured for a long time?
We are as well placed as any team just that we have a new manager and style to embed.

The club have failed the fans in this window. At the start, we clearly needed a CD and no:6. We've let players leave and have not strengthened the core positions.
We have made a profit in this window. Is that the sort of club we have become? We go into this season weaker than last season.
Now we face the prospect of losing VVD, Salah and Trent. Why would they stay when the club show's no intent to invest to strengthen to push for the major trophies?
They've had 2.5 months to secure these positions, and wasted a chunk of that chasing Zubimendi. Brought a goalkeeper that we won't see for a year and ended with a player we didn't need. Not knocking the Chiesa signing as it was good business, but we didn't need him.
What have Hugh's and Edwards been doing for 2.5 months, apart from weakening the squad?
You can argue that we do have some good young talent, but that's all it is. They aren't going to come into the squat and make us stronger
Why were we not in for players like Ugarte? Calafiori? Guéhi?
It's all about money for these owners, and sadly not trophies.
{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with money. Guehi is not good enough. Ugarte can't pass well enough for Slot's system. Calfiori has had one decent season. Hardly missing out with those three. I would have agreed with the rest but you ended it with such a load of crap, it ruined your whole post.}

I love how Dm now stands for deep midfielder rather than defensive midfielder ?.
I’ve seen very little of Morton but it looks like he had a good championship loan last season.
We can only go off what we’ve seen so far and Endo is currently ahead of him in the pecking order as he has made both squads but obviously it’s a long old season and lots can change.
It was only 3-4 weeks ago some wanted to sell Grav to Turkey and Diaz and his dad to anyone who would have him and both have started the season brilliantly.
As far as Slot goes (without sounding like I’m insulting Klopp) his press conferences are like a breath of fresh air. In Klopps last few years he had a love hate relationship with the press and often the media stuff would be extremely frosty and sometimes a difficult listen. Slots presser yesterday was excellent.

I think Morton will definitely get his chance to shine this season. It will be up to him to show what he’s about.
Under Armour (Harry? )
The window is closed mate, time to get behind the team . We can see who is right or wrong next Summer. Move on.

So quadruple incoming then @Faith? Now that we have a balanced team better than both City and Arsenal. ?.
31 Aug 2024 08:40:54
That's fine ED001. What's you view on it all?
{Ed001's Note - terrible window, started on a bad note with no attempt to address the contracts, which should have been priority. A goalkeeper who is a great shotstopper but struggles to catch a ball and is terrible with his feet is a pointless signing considering the way we play. It is a Chelsea-style signing, purely done in hope of making a future profit, and so wasted money that could have been put towards strengthening the team currently. Chiesa I am happy enough with, much better than Gordon, allows Slot the option to rest Salah and should have allowed for more investment in needed areas.
We should have done more and there is no excuse for the mess Hughes made of it, other than him being out of his depth. Hopefully he will learn for the future, but I doubt it, should never have been given the job in the first place. But for me the biggest problem was bringing back the two above him, who left us in a mess before with their handling of the club. Edwards, Ward and Hughes are a Prick Parry level disaster if they are allowed to continue. We can't hope for the Saudis to rescue us again, it just won't happen. Any mistakes will need to be rectified properly in the future, in a market that is showing signs of decline.}

Ed chees for that reply and interesting read.
If a poster made that post they would be getting slated now and probably being called a troll so
Interesting to see if that now happens ?.
{Ed001's Note - I get called a lot worse than that regularly!}
31 Aug 2024 09:23:07
Agreed ED. Will the owners be happy?
{Ed001's Note - their happiness will depend on results on the pitch.}
31 Aug 2024 09:48:50
Can’t disagree with any of that, Ed.
Whether they are trying too hard to game the market thinking they are smarter than everyone else or are just incompetent, we got the same result.
We will have a decent season despite this awful transfer window.
With the sales/ loans of the kids, Iets not go too hard on chasing mythical quads this time.
The injury luck will be key now.

Under armour - happy that we are competing for titles. Seems you want the security of a new player to guarantee a title in your mind. It’s a false reality.
