All Hail the Conquering REDs, weekends don't come any better (football wise) . My motto while watching football is simple Liverpool to win, Man U to loose irrespective of the opponent, and when it is against each other - the JOY!
P. S. Quick one for ED001 if he is around, is it safe to say that Arne Slot has the extra ruthlessness that Klopp lacked or is it just that he didn't buy these players so doesn't feel the need to stick with an out-of-form player. In addition, our No 6 has benched Endo, do you think Ryan is the one, or we should wait for another to come? How similar is he to Emre Can?
{Ed001's Note - hard to say how ruthless he is, he has only dropped one player so far and that was a player fresh out of the academy for a French international. Not really a big call.
Can? I don't see any similarity to Can at all.}

I think he’s extremely ruthless.
He’s never happy. Even after the game he’s still mentioning Trent giving the ball away, Lucho not tracking back etc. hard to satisfy maybe sums it up better.
But taking Trent off again showed me the kind of character he has. He took him off simply to show he’s boss and to test Trent. What kind of reaction would there be this time. Sends a small message to the rest of the team too perhaps.
With a more civil reaction from Trent this time. The message has been understood, and I guarantee he won’t take Trent off again.
In my opinion of course.
Maybe I’m overthinking it!

Why would we need a no 6? Casemiro was brilliant for us last match against Man Utd.

I agree with you Joe about him taking Trent off. It’s good to see he doesn’t bow to players tantrums. I’m sure they discussed it though and I’m sure Trent knew there was a good chance he’d come off near the end if we were winning comfortably.
I think it’s something we’ll see quite often purely because Bradley is too good to just sit on the bench all season.

Ed1, are you concern with the fact that Salah basically saying that the club never get on the table to discuss about his contract? If I'm not wrong, even VVD said the same thing before. Four months, and these three players can basically sign pre-contract with clubs outside England.
{Ed001's Note - of course I am concerned. They are 3 of the 4 best players at the club and they could all leave for free next summer. We would be in real trouble if that happens.}

I've read article from David Ornstein saying that he talked to Sporting Directors of other football clubs and they were saying that Hughes has a great start to his job as Liverpool Sporting Director and most are tipping their hats off to him for his great start in his job.
I don't know if I'm missing something but I don't think he has for me has "great start" at all. I'm also curious why is he not at press conference before the game to answer questions on transfers and contracts instead of Slot. He's been missing after those "opportunistic" press conference.
I know you're not fans of social media or football jornalist etc Ed1, but it seems to be an effort to hype up someone who based on this transfer window is not that good. I'm probably going to get slated by Edwards worshipper after saying this.
{Ed001's Note - Ornstein has to be nice or he won't get access to info in future. I don't know what possible basis could this supposed great start be based on. What has he achieved? Sold a few players that teams wanted, but failed to shift those we really needed to get rid of. Signed a player we have no need of and a winger that had little other interest in (though I do like the signing of Chiesa), after consistently failing to get any of the actual targets. There is nothing great about it. It can be spun to be decent or terrible, or anywhere in between, but not great at all.
If Hughes had offloaded Williams and Phillips, then I would say that he had gone a long way to making up for the failings in recruitment, but he didn't. We are still paying part of their wages.}

Hello Ed01, when you say he dropped just one, are u implyig that Endo, Curtis, Harvey were not ahead of Ryan; or that Nunez was not ahead of Jota?
It is nice to see Jota getting more consistent game time, I know he doesn't tick as many boxes as Nunez, but he puts in a good shift ever since he stopped disappearing in games.
{Ed001's Note - Jones got injured, so couldn't be dropped or picked either way. Harvey was not playing the deeper role to get ahead of Ryan. Endo was not ahead of Ryan for Slot. Nunez didn't get back in time to win his place in the side as Jota had been doing well.}

Thanks Ed001.
{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

You’re not supposed to say that about contracts on here ed, the PC brigade will be having a fit.

“But taking Trent off again showed me the kind of character he has. He took him off simply to show he’s the boss and to test Trent”
So you seriously think Slot wants to get into a cock fight with a player 3 games into his new job just to prove he’s the man? Do you not think we have a very good right back in Bradley and taking off Trent saves him a bit for future games, especially when the job is done?
03 Sep 2024 19:04:32
I think taking Trent is is purely a tactical move by Slot and nothing else. It's been seen over the years how we have faded at the back end due to players looking tired and fatigued.
I think Slot is being very clever with his subs - saving trents legs whilst getting Bradley some much needed minutes and experience.

In Hughes defence and more generally playing devil's advocate, it wasn't him that signed Phillips and Williams up to what is likely the best contracts they will ever get following the job they did helping get us top 4 in the season of defensive crisis, and those players likely know that, why would they leave? We can't force them. Not saying he's done well either, I'm personally just reserving judgement until Slot has actually had a season to assess the squad and tell Hughes what he wants.

Conor bradley is extremely talented. You're looking at a potential attacking right back that will score goals. If anyone watches him for northern Ireland, the lads playing as a midfielder because he can offer a lot going forward including goals. His timing getting into the box and when crosses are coming in is exceptional.
He might end up actually further up the pitch if given the chance. Bradley is completely different to trent, but he's special and a full back that really looks like he could get 10 goals a season of playing continuously.
