Morning guys. Looking for input from Ed’s and posters.
I’ve seen a couple of complaints now from G Neville and Maresca saying that PSR is forcing clubs to sell their academy prospects, which I’m confused about tbh.
Unless I’m missing something, PSR is forcing clubs to specifically sell academy players like Mctominay and Gallagher, but more to just act sustainably with transfers in/ out.
I thought it was weird that Maresca complained but all I could think was “well you could just stop buying 15 players every transfer window? ”.
Am I missing something? Happy to be educated.
{Ed001's Note - not missing anything, they don't need to sell them, they could simply stop buying so much dross. It is an idiotic and unsustainable policy that is why they are not fighting for the title despite spending obscene amounts of money.}

I think its along the lines of
If you sign a 50 mill player on a 5 year contract then its down on the PSR spend sheet as 10 mill a year for 5 years.
If you sell a player for 50 mill then it goes straight onto your accounts as profit.
The academy players are 100% profit as they won't be on your spend sheet.
{Ed001's Note - but you still have to spend on the academy in the first place. So it is false accounting and not a clever way to work. Especially if you are Chelsea and one of the things you are in trouble for is the side payments made to attract a number of those academy players. Those may not show in the accounts, but they came from the club's coffers.}

Chelsea fans (and the likes of Lavia and Caicedo) are still going to tell you that we don't have a clue, that they are the best run club in the country with a clever sustainable ten year model and that they will dominate football for years to come, Ed001, maybe we're just imbeciles who don't understand a thing about this game.
{Ed001's Note - maybe. In 10 year's time, if they are hoovering up all the trophies they will be able to say 'told you so', but I doubt it.}

Ed01, I've heard the "my dog ate my homework" excuse but this is one as in "The damn PSR made me do it" definitely takes the biscuit for me. Utterly ridiculous.
Like you said, if they stopped buying young players even teenagers for that matter for big fees, they wouldn't have to sell academy players and PSR wouldn't be an issue.
{Ed001's Note - especially Chelsea, who are selling better players than they are buying a lot of the time. How does that even make sense?}

What Chelsea are doing has nothing to do with football. They are just a ‘body shop’ intent on making money. They really are a poorly run, distasteful collection of spivs.

That’s the craziest part ed001! The players they have sold are so much better than what they have now.
You look at the players that were some of the most “desired” this summer or moved for big money - Olise, Guehi, Solanke - all coming from their academy earlier in their careers.
And they have ended up with nearly all academy players sold to fund purchasing a bloated squad full of mostly average players.
{Ed002's Note - You need to understand is that young players depart for various reasons, game time for example.}

That’s exactly what I was saying to my Chelsea supporting mate. I just don’t understand what Chelsea are trying to do.
They are selling the beating heart of the team and club in their Academy products and buying players that aren’t even as good.
Baffling.
{Ed001's Note - that is the biggest thing. If they were selling them to buy players like Bellingham and Mbappe, for example, you could understand it, even though that still doesn't work that well (just ask PSG). But they are selling the academy silver to buy players that, at their very best, are on about the same level as the players they are selling. Then they wonder why performances are all over the place, without those players that will run through brick walls for the team.}

@Beckers and Im channeling by inner Chris Tucker in the movie Rush Hour when I say, "Nobody understands the words that are coming out of Chelsea's mouth".

Seen reports that to comply with PSR Chelsea have sold 2 hotels to one of their sister companies. And has been ratified by the premier league.

Saw that too Gaga - just sounds wrong though doesn't it?
I mean, these issues from PSR is just really from buying too many players. Swear, I just do not understand Chelsea since Boehly took over - they have just bought and bought and bought and weirdly sold players that have done better than those purchases.
As Liverpool fans, we all want to be more active in the market over the years but you see what the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd have done and think, you know what, we've done ok.
The big thing in PSR/ FFP will be the City case I still think - all great having these rules but if no real punishment is dished out then what honestly stops others doing the same? Distracting thing in that case though is the sheer amount of charges, lot of them inconsequential really, think near 40 are just 'failure to co-operate' etc; but a few major ones such as the manager renumeration etc that the League would want settled.
