Sounds like Harvey Elliott has left the U21 training camp with an injury, not sure how severe but this is always a fear when it comes to international breaks, having a player get injured without having any control of it.

Question 1, why in is Elliott even considered for the U21's? Surely, as a Prem ready player, he should be exempt, even if he is of age. How will the experience benefit him exactly? Other than to help England win a meaningless trophy.

2, what do the England coaches do in training? The amount of injuries we sustain from the English coaches is far beyond that of other nations. Gomez, Trent, Jones, Elliott have all picked up injuries during training, and at times significant ones. Are they playing dodgeball with basketballs or what?

Madness.

Stupid pointless international breaks, they do my head in for this exact reason. We're on tenderhooks every single time hoping for the lads to come back uninjured.

Was looking forward to seeing more from Elliot as well, hopefully it's not too serious and it's a quick recovery.

My mind always takes me back to the Mourinho Ferguson technique of pretending players were injured before internationals.
Useless internationals would come around and suddenly half the squad was injured for a week and just make the team sheet the week later in the league.
They did it constantly.

It could just be that he picked up a knock while training - which happens when they're training back at AXA - and then it was deemed better that he leave the 21s camp and recover at home.

I'm ambivalent about internationals cos my country sucks at football lol but kinds of things I'm a bit meh - players get injured all the time. Quansah and Curtis both got injured before our last match. last I checked he wasn't on international duty when that happened.

My preference has always been to scrape more rather than have more international games

Aside from WC and the continental / regional competitions, all others should go - nations league in particular, what value, footballing wise, does it being?

And with that, only international breaks for qualifiers during the season

I’m certain the players, football and everything will be better with fewer games, especially international friendlies or forgettable competitions but yea, it doesn’t make money, so I guess this May go on….

Sadly, it’s not about football @Sgynwa. It’s about money. If they were interested in football they wouldn’t have elite footballers playing 60
+ club games, internationals and pre-season intercontinental friendly matches.

He can turn it down if he likes. The boy wants to play football.
