Three points is three points but i have to say and i did say it last season even though he has been outstanding for us, Mo is on his way down i know he scored a pen, but his overall game is very poor. He has his moments, but he has his poor moments too.
i have supported LFC for 60 years and seen the best of the best with the liver bird on their shirt come to a time where Mo is and like king Kenny, i wish Mo and Stevie G had ten more years but it comes to them all.
YNWA.

I don’t know if you realise this but your not actually allowed say that Salah had a bad performance on this fan banter site. Otherwise you will be accused of not being a real fan, deserving Salah as a Liverpool player or even watching a game.
Jokes aside, Salah is a legend and always will. Salah has moments of absolute brilliance and is still good for maybe 20 goals a season which is still unreal. For me this is a very similar situation to where Utd found themselves when Ronaldo returned, from a class perspective still a cut above the rest and always capable of pulling magic out of nowhere but from an overall game perspective what are we loosing?
The big question here is where does Salah see himself? if Salah is happy to be rotated, kept fresh but maybe not playing every game then im 100% sign him up but he can't play 2 or 3 times a week because his performances drop off quiet alot. look how he performed when he came back at the start of the season he was pure fire and in only a short few weeks his performances have fallen off a cliff, honestly some of his passing has been quiet bad for his standards.
whatever the decision an absolute legend who we should enjoy for as long as we have him!

I believe no one is denying Salah is not like he used to be. But some of the fans need to be realistic; adjust your expectation on him now that you know he is getting older and generally players are playing differently when they gets older.

I've been talking on here for years about Mo and the very things people are pointing at now.
And not in a negative way on him, just that the peak of his powers was when he either had space to run into or we could manipulate it. Other than a couple moments of absolute baller magic, his dribbling by and large goes straight into the defender and that will just get more noticeable.
At the stage of his career he needs to be more crafty with the ball, so he just needs to be more accurate and bring others into play for 1-2s more so than he has in previous years and is currently.

Haizan - I agree but under the context that we’re apparently negotiating a contract extension where he’d supposedly want at least what he is getting now, it would seem fair to raise an eye brow ?.

Mo was, unsurprisingly, at the peak of his powers when Bobby was. I don’t believe it was a coincidence.

Faithinworks you're spot on. Question is, even if he wanted to stay on a short 2 year contract, would we pay the wages needed for someone past his amazing best? Maybe in hindsight getting a fortune for him a year or two ago could have been smart?

Salah will go to the KSA next summer I’m pretty sure.
Amazing player for the club but definitely one for rotation now, we didn’t find a replacement in the summer gone and it won’t be easy to find one in the next 2 windows either.

Who will replace him then?
From within or not
I would love us to go for Kvaratskhelia but he plays more on the left but what a player he is.

To be honest, Salah has been poor in the last 3 PL games in terms of his actual play after starting his first 3 games of the season like a house on fire. The Forrest, B'mouth and now Wolves games, he has been poor, tbh.
Could it be just a sticky patch? We shall see but I think it is a bit premature to start going or this or that way or condemning him to the Saudi league after just 8 games of the season overall already. Let's give it time and see what happens.
Afterall, I thought he had lost it a bit after the way he finished last season and yet in the first 3 games of this one, he was outstanding in terms of his play (forget the goals) so again, let's be patient here. Just my take.

Faithinworks, yes i think you are spot on mate. Mo has been outstanding as was sadio, but the one who put it all together is Bobby he was majestic he was a king. Kenny seen it two steps ahead of everyone else so i think he is the sort of player we should be scouting. for now we have players who can play in Mo's position, but i would never disrespect Mo. he has been brilliant for LFC YNWA.

I have no idea about his wage demands though. There was this one time when I renewed his contract in my FC24 career mode, i offered 50k lesser than his previous wage. He accepted it. Maybe in real life he'll accept it as well ;)

Apparently in the old days when they built stone bridge, the last stone that was put into place was the keystone / capstone and it was crucial to locking everything in place and ensuring the integrity of the bridge. In my opinion that’s what Bobby was. Brilliant football brain, leader of the press and a decent bloke too. Would have loved to see what his younger self would do for our emerging squad.
{Ed025's Note - probably a few nice flicks, the odd Cruyff turn and to not be involved in 70% of the game WDW?, just my guess of course mate.. :)
30 Sep 2024 11:45:05
Yeah, for someone like Mo and for what he has given to the club, there should be an element of meeting him at his demands. But I don’t think the club should be bending over backwards to meet contract terms that were based on his levels 2 seasons ago.
Whatever happens I hope that we land on a mutual resolution.

To be fair though Ed, isn’t one of your heroes, the Brummy Bob Latchford ? For those of you less than 50, you might think Bob Latchford sounds like a character in a second rate comedy show, who am I to argue with you?
{Ed025's Note - the "Latch" was the most complete centre forward i have seen WDW, great player mate..

Salah still a cracking player and is always marked by 2 or 3 - this leaves space to be exploited by others then
As good as he still is though, he's not getting any younger and should probably be rotated more, does he not seem to play every minute near enough for both Liverpool and Egypt? Rest him a game, play Chiesa, manage his minutes better and we'll see a fit and firing Salah every time I think
As for selling him, I'd let him retire with us lol and see how many more records he can break - proper looks after himself too, very good professional.

I want to see Salah sign an extension and stay with us for another year or two atleast as even st his current level he still has a lot to offer however I would caveat that with Salah would have to be happy sitting out some games and being kept fresh for big champions league games or premiership games ( 1 game a week kind of thing) … perhaps Salah wouldn’t be happy with that but it’s the best thing for his overall performance! As for contract terms I’m not really bothered tbh, it’s not my money and the club have saved a fortune over the years so renewing on equal terms for me is a fair deal on a 2 year deal.
