Ed 1 I'd love to know what you thought of Danny Murphy as a player for liverpool. I just remember him scoring important goals v utd? Ta!
{Ed001's Note - he was good so long as he was in the opposition half, put him on the ball in his own half and he almost always give the ball away. Lacked mobility, but good technique and vision.}

Now he sits on talksport trying to use big words like Simon Jordan it’s cringe to say the least just be yourself, he’s always trying to find a big word to use.

I'd never knock someone to who's trying to be a better version of them self.

Danny Murphy was nothing like Jay spearing. Murphy good pick out a good pass n had vision, and a excellent penalty taker . different type of player to Spearing.

Didn't he score 2 or 3 winners at Old Trafford back in the day? that's an achievement in itself!

Murphy is as sound as a pound. We had a charity game here where I live a few years ago, the likes of Waddle, Heskey and Murphy all turned up. Murphy stayed behind at the end for absolutely ages, autographs, photos, talking to anyone who approached him. Massive time for the kids too.
Huge respect for a guy who does that.

Danny Murphy was a decent number 10 type of player. Regularly scored important goals and had good vision and passing ability. Not mobile or defensive at all though which highlighted his deficiencies as he was regularly played as a CM or RM. Good player and I personally was disappointed when we sold him.

Ed001 how is it that Murphy can be composed in one half and not the other and in his fulham days did he become more of an all round player.
{Ed001's Note - he was just always looking to take risks with his play and it is much easier to do that in the opposition half. He would rush it I think, and it would often be longer passes he was trying as well.}

As Flash says Murphy is a top bloke. He grew up literally round the corner from me, and was always being flagged down by us kids when passing in his car. Would stop and sign autographs etc every time.
More recently he's in my local from time to time and will always have time for anyone who wants a chat or a photo. Lovely fella.

Murphy could pick a pass and could strike a ball with deadly precision from set pieces. Very good player, IMO.
