So reports that Madrid want TAA in January and would be willing to do a deal where we give them TAA and a fee for Tchouamani l, it will be silly season on the rumours front until this one gets settled.
10 Oct 2024 06:04:50
TAA will go to Madrid.
I hear all the nonsense about him wanting to stay but the truth is, he made demands that the club are not prepared to meet, there was an impasse and that has led to the current predicament.
My issue is that the club didn’t see this reality and tie him down before selling him for a handsome fee.
I like the lad and think he is a belter player, but nobody is bigger than the club.
The club now need to either back down and sign him up for another 3 years on increased terms or keep him until the end of the season and let him sign a pc in Jan.

Has a professional club ever lost their club captain and vice captain in the same transfer window before?
Would be quite some record especially for free.
10 Oct 2024 08:35:10
Do you know this hughes or is that just a wild guess?
10 Oct 2024 08:51:42
How could the club tie Trent down if it was unwilling to meet his demands? One of the reasons Madrid want to sign him might be because he is available on a free.
10 Oct 2024 09:18:43
Ed doesn't seem to think that is the case Hughes. Trent is one of the best rwb in world football atm and it's fair that he wants his salary to indicate this.
Amateur dealings from the club if he is to leave on a free.

Absolute dream for media and click bait sites lol
Couldn’t have written it in the stars any better than for Carvajal to go down for the season before the January window to add some spice to the rumours lol
Like what the actual fudge ?.

@jk23, did milly leave the same window as hendo?
10 Oct 2024 12:26:44
JK23 im nearly sure we lost our captain and vice captain at the same time not so long ago. Hendo and Milner.

{Ed002's Note - We are not going to get in to this - it will simply result in more misinformation being shared.}

As much as i want him to stay I think he will probably leave. I can see this being like a Pogba move. he will go to Madrid have a few games were he makes some mistakes at the back, then the fans start questioning his defensive abilities then the media add their part. He then starts to realise that maybe the grass isn't always greener and wants to come home. Do we welcome him back if that happened or tell him he's made his bed? could he have something put in his new contract that allows him to come back at a reasonable fee or do we do what united did and pay 100mil. There are not many players that leave Liverpool to go onto have a better career. He will not be loved as much as he is here, If he goes I wish him well but we except that he is not the greatest at defending at times because he is one of our own but will he have the same support from other fans? only time will tell.
{Ed002's Note - Why make up this nonsense? Once he leaves Liverpool he no longer has a contract with the club. Surely you must have a glimmer of understanding how this all works?}

Scouse / . Jimmy absolute great shout. Indeed we did.
At the time I suppose it could be debated neither would be first team regulars where as Trent and Virg are starting 11 week in week out.

@Shighes, can you list the ‘demands’ TAA has made please? I can’t seem to find the on the great ‘world wide web’.

I thought we least Hendo, Fabs and Millie in the same window?

We did indeed WDW. And then that following season it was said we were in a transition season to bed in a new midfield.
Would the club be doing slot justice by losing 3 of his best starting 11 in one window and then resulting in his second season being another so called transitional period.
I can’t say hand on heart that Slot wants to keep all 3 but the fact he is currently starting them week in week out suggests the evidence is that he does.

Fair enough, Ed002.
It was a rhetorical question but, as you say, there is already too much misinformation being spread.

I agree @JK, all three are certain starters when fit and are an integral part of the current team.
Personally, I’d like to see all three of them stay, although I’d have VVD on a two year extension at most as I think his age is a factor.
As I wrote the other day I think the problem stems from the time the current contracts were agreed - somebody at the club at that time (absolutely no idea who) should have been aware of the chance of the situation arising that the club is now facing. It’s unprofessional and has been exacerbated by allowing it to go unchecked. That said, it is what it is and hopefully the club can do something about it, ideally before the start of open season for negotiation with other clubs in January.
Again personally, I don’t think all three will leave.
My gut feeling is that VVD will stay, particularly as Joe G seems to assigned captain of the reserve team by Arne which I think will be a sign to Joe that first team football is a better option elsewhere. If both go that would leave us with Ibou, Quansah and, perhaps Naldo but would mean we need two (or 3 - the LCB discussion notwithstanding) squad / starter CBs., who will come at a cost.
I’d say Mo is 50/ 50. I’d be happy for him to stay as he is still a top class performer although I’d like to see Chiesa get up to speed and along with Doak, perhaps, prove they are a viable option to play on the right as starters rather than squad members. If Mo does decide he wants to leave then fair play to him. He has been nothing but excellent for us and he has my best wishes and thanks for some great memories.
I’d say the one most likely to leave is Trent. I think based on what I’ve heard and seen is that he continually wants to improve and be the best he can and I think that playing with the players that have been assembled at RM would be an obvious attraction. To be fair, he has won everything there is to win at Liverpool and it just might be the Gerrard / Zubimendi ‘now or never’ moment for him. Again, if the lad does leave then, like Mo, best wishes for the future and thanks for the brilliant memories and, not least, the best corner kick that has ever been taken. I think that in young Bradley we have an excellent replacement and, acknowledging that Trent is one of the best in the world in his position I honestly believe that Bradley could be in the same bracket in the not to distant future.
One final opinion, I’m not a believer in the idea of transition seasons. I see it as a cop out option. In my view if we spend £100m+ for two or three players in a window then we should be buying players with the capability to play the way, and to the level required, by the coach.
As it stands, if TAA, VVD and Mo leave the obvious replacements from the current squad would be Bradley, Quansah and Chiesa which would be a drop off in terms of team strength but not a disaster and all three replacements have the potential to improve, particularly the two younger players.
Sorry, once I got started I got a bit carried away.

Great post and enjoyable read that WDW.
I’m very much of the same opinion.
