3 points and we move on! Well done lads - not the best watch but if we can do the same next week I’ll be very happy! Can’t stand Arsenal!

Want peoples opinion when slot came in it seemed everyone thought we needed a LCB, DM and RW having watched the start of the season in my opinion this has changed.

We do need to look at a VVD replacement but he has been excellent this season so would offer contract.

For me it would be a LB - I think we need a midfielder, not a no6 but there is a drop of when Grav and Macca aren’t together and I would be after a no10 someone who can create as we seem to be missing that at the moment.

As I have shown in prior posts I am wrong the majority of the time just interested if opinion is the same.

I actually thought that it was a great watch, played like a game of chess. Two tightly matched teams but Liverpool shading the finer margins. I like watching games, where I don't feel like I am at risk of a heart attack, several times throughout the game. This was our first real test in the Premier League, against an excellent Chelsea team, who will finish top four, I believe. Great result and great performance.

{Ed025's Note - i thought it was as boring as hell to be honest Kloppite, your analogy to a chess game was about right i would say mate, very slow and laborious game with passing for passing,s sake...most of them backwards, a win is a win though and i suppose thats the aim even though it was a very hard watch for the neutral..

Sofa- I think the club played it absolutely on point, come January slott will have had more than enough real time to access the squad in it’s entirety and I’m certain that improvements/ additions will be made accordingly
Well done Hughes/ edwards with the appointment of slott.

Ed025 - if Liverpool win stuff playing the way we do, who cares?

{Ed025's Note - yeah i suppose you are right Tom but as a football purist i prefer to be entertained mate, its a means to an end of course but i must say i preferred the cut and thrust high octane football of the Klopp era myself...but each to their own..

Check Mate game over, and Still Top of the League.

{Ed025's Note - not quite mate just yet KT but you are going well..

I think with tv deals at an all time record high and this new found push to eradicate illegal streaming i think football is at a bit of a cross roads because the more football goes towards teams not playing entertaining football and more setting up like Guardiola clowns then the more chance there is of people turning off.

You’re not wrong ed25. But that’s the modern game. Jurgan has gone now to light up the league. Spurs are an exciting watch but average players.
City are the most boring team ever. Then you’ve got Arsenal who are Mark Hughes’ Stoke. Liverpool pass the ball around the back all game.
Then we say the atmosphere at stadiums aren’t good enough ?.

{Ed025's Note - yeah i will have that LFC8, i thought the crowd were very subdued today mate but i suppose there was not much in that game to get you off your seat..

I think that when you take the ‘big’ teams particularly the likes of us, City, Arsenal (at the moment) there is so much at stake that the primary objective is to try and not lose and to pinch a goal if there’s a chance. It’s not, generally, free flowing, entertaining stuff but it can be interesting watching teams at least try to get the points (like us today) . It’s very rare that teams at the top play well against each other because the teams set up to nullify their opponents.

We’ve been very lucky for the past few years with Jurgen Norbert Klopp, he saw it differently and we got to watch a team that (very nearly) always went for it. Of course it didn’t always work but it was fun watching us try.

{Ed025's Note - i think everyone liked watching that Klopp side WDW, probably deserved to win more but the ride was enthralling mate..

20 Oct 2024 22:27:53
If you think that was a hard watch for the neutral try watching any Everton game from the last 5 years as a neutral.

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more Thunderbird and that alone makes me an authority on boring one dimensional football mate...so i know what in talking about..

20 Oct 2024 22:32:15
WDW 100% agree. That’s the point I was trying to make above and over on the match posts but you’ve made it better.

I actually think we're well stacked in the no10 department Sofa_Fan. We have Szobo, Elliott to come back, Jones an Mac10. So that's 4 potential players for 1 position and 2 dedicated players for 1 position.

Exactly, WDW. I have no idea why people suddenly expect these types of games esp. v Chelsea with whom we have a much stronger rivalry than we have with City over the past 20 years, to be no holds barred, swash-buckling stuff. DO people not realise that half of our games over time have ended in draws. Klopp did his thing his way cos that is who and what he is and won the lot doing so. In fact, there were tons of games I wished he played this way to have further control of proceedings. Alas, it sisn't happen. Those days are gone now.

Slot likes to entertain as well but he will not go all out so the other big team can pick us off at will on the counter. That's not his thing. Oh and btw, Klopp played the exact same way vs Spurs in the CL final and what was the score? Exactly. What many call boring (teams are not obliged to entertain me or you at their own expense in big games either, @Ed25), others find entertaining cos they love tactical chess matches. To each his own.
