Brilliant 3 points that today. Thought Salah had a great game and how good was Nunez? Hope he plays like that every game now.

I thought Nunez was excellent when he came on in the first half and then didn’t really do a lot in the 2nd half.
Both Jota and Nunez’s strength seems to be that they always get lots of chances for goals but in the slot system we’re not quite seeing that for some reason.
It was said in the summer that Slot likes his wingers to get to the byline and get cut backs for the centre forwards but it’s been quite the opposite so far.
Nunez worked hard today and played a couple of lovely balls in the first half but he didn’t really get a sniff of goal. Neither has Jota in majority (palace the exception) of games either.

I don't think Nunez was, or is, that good.
I'd rate him more if he could he could stay onside.

He was decent yesterday, really put a shift in from the first second he came on.

Salah had a very good game after long time. Should have been MoM.
Nunez started brightly in first half but had his screws loose in 2nd half to get silly yellow.
Jones - though he got away with MoM, is very unconvicing. Too much dilly dally on the ball. could have cost the game but luckily got the points.
Penalty which Salah scored, jones had no idea. Colwill gifted one.
This one, he had the ball to pass/ release to Salah or anyone else but he took ages and then luckily got into the way and got a penalty.
2nd Penalty that got reversed - 5 yeards in front of goal and only keeper to beat, and he looks and looks and looks. not sure what :-)
The goal he scored - luckily miscontrolled the pass but Sanchez was late and somehow poked it in. He sure did not know he scored.
Last year for few games he was building up nicely and we were all thinking we had a very good player but got injured again. This year got a first start and got MOM but highly unconvicing.
The whole team took measured/ laboured approach. Not sure it was intentional from Slot after Int break.

Wait, it's not like we were getting him the ball in dangerous areas and he was doing nothing with it thru out the second half, was it? I think we spent the whole game trying to find Salah for the most part which is okay but that leaves other forwards starving for opportunities. It worked out cos Salah was immense in the game so I get that.
Jota vs Palace and altho he scored, put an awesome shift in even after missing two awesome chances (which is not good) and even at that, he was great fighting the CB's and winning fouls to get us up the pitch. Darwin did the exact same thing so it is only fair he gets the same credit and rightfully so and even tho, we couldn't get the ball to him, he was a pest to their defence all game and did all the dirty work (tackling Caicedo and Lavia near our box) to keep us ahead of the curve. Hats off to both forwards in games where chances were at a premium for both teams, I might add.

lol. I'm not Jones' biggest fan but was brilliant yesterday at both ends of the pitch - blocking shots in our penalty area, winning penalties (the overturned one was definitely still a penalty), getting on the score sheet and making Cole Palmer pretty much anonymous. Credit where credit its due.

I enjoyed Nunez' bit of sh! *housery late on when one of the Chelsea defenders got a but physical with Salah and Nunez came in and stood between them.

It wasn’t the best display I’ve ever seen. I thought we played more like the away team and thought Endo should have come on for at least the last 20 mins. But a win is a win. Finger crossed jota isn’t injured for long.

A pragmatic performance after an international break against a team/ coach that we didn't have a huge sample size of performance data from. What's not to appreciate?
Nice little dig at Darwin there, Rigsby. He was offside once a couple of minutes after coming on. Perhaps mention the unselfish shift he put in having to be a one man pressing machine at times. The pass into Curtis for the pen that wasn't given was pretty good too.
I am sure there is still a lot of work to be done on the training ground to find the right balance between defending and attacking but you cannot fault the grit and determination in the group right now. Even Salah's off the ball work was immense yesterday. It's a great foundation.

"Perhaps mention the unselfish shift he put in having to be a one man pressing machine at times. The pass into Curtis for the pen that wasn't given was pretty good too. "
Nope, we're not allowed to say any of that, apparently.
21 Oct 2024 11:26:55
It was criticism and hardly a dig, Pelican.
He did some good things yesterday and I like his attitude but I don't think he was, or is, that good.
Maybe I'm more critical of him because of his price tag, lack of composure and propensity to run offside though.
21 Oct 2024 13:03:45
Sounds like you are still judging him on last season, in an emotionally charged Klopp final season, Rigsby. Give him a chance under this new coach. It's much more fun that way.
21 Oct 2024 13:52:58
I thought Nunez played well. we are seeing a different side to his game under slot. His pressing and defensive work helped Liverpool break down Chelsea's play and counter. I'm sure the goals will come if he continues putting in a shift and harassing opponents.
21 Oct 2024 16:54:54
Nunez played well yesterday and gave it everything for the cause. Why would anyone want to be critical of that? Crazy.
I did have to close my eyes when he was thundering behind Caicedo when Chelsea were on the break and he’d already been booked. Had red card written all over it but he got lucky that Caicedo hurdled the challenge and didn’t make more of it.
It just proved his desire to win the game though, he was everywhere.
21 Oct 2024 20:17:04
I'm judging Nunez on what I've seen of him. Towards the end of last season and the beginning of this season, he hasn't been starting regularly which also tells me something.
I don't think he was anything special yesterday and not above criticism, overall. He was caught offside again, booked and wasted a half decent opportunity.
He also worked hard and played some nice passes.
I can take being called crazy for criticising the performances of Darwin Nunez. Maybe it is crazy to want less running around and want more end product. Maybe Klopp and Slot are crazy for wanting the same, too.
22 Oct 2024 02:12:15
Nunez definitely needs more end-product to his game. 1 goal and 1 assist so far this season is a poor return. He has an opportunity to stake his claim now though with Jota seemingly out.
22 Oct 2024 09:21:17
Rigsby, what has Darwin transfer fee got to do with how he plays the lad never set his own transfer fee Benfica set it. Darwin tries too hard to impress and makes his slip up's like being off side but we have a manager who is working with Darwin as he has done with Trent. Do you not think Trent's game yesterday was as good a full back showing that he has done for a while?
22 Oct 2024 10:56:51
iwillbered, his transfer fee matters because I expect more of him for that sort of money. I could be wrong for doing so and we might have paid far too much for him. 20 League goals in his first two seasons and hardly starting this is not good enough, for me.
I've always rated TAA as a footballer so I don't get your point. I rated him for Klopp and I rate him for Slot. Slot might turn Nunez into £70/ 80m striker and I'd like nothing more but he has preferred Jota so far.
