Edd001 surely you put a contract infront of trent and tell him he's the future Liverpool captain. I can't see him turning thst down myself.

Rigsby - no. Such a clause wouldn’t be inserted into any contract. At some point, the club may decide Trent isn’t the best captain and then all of a sudden you have broken a clause in Virgil’s contract.

No, Rigsby. You don’t negotiate individual contracts with clauses that could impact the entire team. Goal bonuses were bad enough in that regard, though doubtless still exist. Some clubs may ensure pay parity, but only with the top players (Player A may have a clause saying he has to be paid equal to the highest-paid player), but you would not guarantee captaincy to a player in a contract.
Further, no player at any club should feel he has the political power to demand such a clause. It signals that the captain’s position is guaranteed by law, not by their ability to lead and inspire the team.

I agree with you, Lowe. I asked a question about how it would impact VVD's contract situation.
People want the three contracts sorted it out but talking about making TAA captain when one of the others already has the role.
