Need a left back badly. Think Kostas has been better than Robbo this season, but neither the answer long term. Robbo looks well past his best when he was the number 1 LB in the world.
27 Oct 2024 23:38:26
Yep Robbo was awful today. Defs lost a yard and needs upgrading sadly. He will be having nightmares about Saka. Thought Mac was awful today as well and we generally lacked control in the midfield until Arsenal went ahead and tried to sit back and time waste as usual.
27 Oct 2024 23:45:52
Am afraid I have to agree with you there op. I mean Saka is absolute quality but Andy was getting shown up big time to the point were I thought he was going to get subbed in the first half. It happens to the best of us. Just old age catching up on you!
27 Oct 2024 23:55:45
Yeah Robbo was outclassed.
He’s ready for the Saudi league.
28 Oct 2024 00:28:22
Robbo’s issue, more than just his age, is that he is so one-footed. Without more ambidexterity, you are reliant on physically matching your opponent to defend against them, which Robertson can no longer do.
28 Oct 2024 00:30:05
@Brummy, I was really surprised about the lack of control in midfield too. I think it’s an absolute disgrace that one of the top teams in Europe playing at their home ground don’t just roll over when they are playing us - one of their biggest rivals. In all honesty, I think our fans who travelled to the match should ask the club for a refund.
28 Oct 2024 00:42:55
Duck Robbo, incoming. Dom, you can come out of hiding this week. The fickle finger has moved on.
28 Oct 2024 00:51:16
Based on this game, id say we need a RB as well. Great ball from TAA for Salah’s goal but aside from that he was awful.
28 Oct 2024 01:19:50
As much as I love Robbo and hate agreeing with this - you're right. We need an upgrade.
28 Oct 2024 02:10:59
Perhaps we should give a run to Gomez at LB.
28 Oct 2024 03:54:16
Lee Carsley showed us the way. TAA at left back. Then Connor Bradley at right back. Sorted.
28 Oct 2024 04:47:22
TAA was poor at LB but grabbed the headlines for the free kick.
28 Oct 2024 05:00:37
TAA was awful as well yesterday. Good to see finally we agree we need players. I thought in the summer we didn’t anyone ?.
28 Oct 2024 05:43:05
What about TAA? . At least Robertson's is a natural decline, whereas TAA's is total disinterest and lack of errort. The sooner he's gone the better.
28 Oct 2024 05:51:35
I agree. can’t see us signing one though tbh.
28 Oct 2024 06:17:14
What are you on about WDW? waffle. Our midfield was poor yesterday. Mac was awful, TAA had a stinker and so did Robbo. I'll take the point and move on.
28 Oct 2024 06:21:23
Carra thinks Trent is off.
28 Oct 2024 07:21:13
What are you on about @Marty?
28 Oct 2024 07:22:05
I think only Vvd and especially Konate had good overall games yesterday.
Credit to Darwin who showed composure for his assist and Diaz for being aggressive for the header.
All said and done it’s a very good point at the emirates.
28 Oct 2024 07:43:42
REDMICK - Trent and Robertson’s respective technical levels are on a different planet to each other. One moment of quality from Trent set up the equalizer yesterday, something Robertson basically can’t do for all the will in the world. I suspect Trent might leave in the summer, but I can’t fault his performances so far this season. Other than some silly passes where he gave the ball away for no reason yesterday, Trent has been amazing this season.
28 Oct 2024 08:15:10
Jesus, Arsenal must have been ecstatic we have so many out of form and bad players or they would have got tanked 6-0
Imagine having to go to a top club whose manager has spent a clean fortune and scrap for a draw?
I mean it was a draw, Arsenal should be more disappointed than us . It was a tight game, I think we edged shots on target although nothing of any relevance apart from the goals, possession, we restricted Arsenal to one corner the whole game, which was a godsend because they won a hell of a lot more aerial duels. Curtis Jones I think only made one error pass in the whole game.
So yeah we could have played better for sure, so could Arsenal tho. Some posters are arrogant enough to think you go to a place like the Emirates and roll them over, not going to happen, they are now a very good team and they should be, they’ve spent a clean fortune in a relatively short period of time, although they’ve only won the FA Cup so far .
Hopefully no injuries for us, that’s majorly important and we move onto the next game.
28 Oct 2024 08:29:27
@Irish
Arsenal are a very good side, how? By acquiring players, by slashing money. Robertson won’t miraculously improve next week. He has been on the decline for about two years. We had a chance to buy a top class LCB this summer and chose not to.
That Arsenal did not feature Saliba and Odegard. That’s like us missing VVD and Salah.
28 Oct 2024 09:20:48
Arsenals best player is an academy graduate.
By and large I think they have actually wasted a lot of money on players that aren’t good enough and th rube had to move on.
UV - lots of hysteria coming from you this morning after a draw at the emirates.
28 Oct 2024 08:48:17
I’m going to say that Arsenal are a very good side based on their League position over the last few seasons, maybe you disagree that doesn’t make for a good team ?♂️.
Injuries happen to all side. Who is to say Allison doesn’t make a difference for us in goals and Jota doesn’t pop up for a winner late in the game.
Like I said, some posters are arrogant enough to think we should walk over every team.
28 Oct 2024 08:50:22
UV - their 2 missing players compare to our 2 missing players. Alison, probably the best goalkeeper around, and Jota, probably our most clinical finisher - so they were at no more disadvantage than us.
Why can't fans accept that it was a very good point gained.
28 Oct 2024 08:52:42
No violet - it’s like us missing Allison (best player in his position in world) and Jota (who has started for us every game when fit and previously scored 7 goals I believe Vs Arsenal) .
28 Oct 2024 10:18:46
I did like Virgs response in his post match interview when asked about a depleted Arsenal team - pointing out that they only had 2 players out injured the same as us. Walcott immediately agreed in the studio too. There was even talk this morning about Arsenal having payers train behind close doors to make it look to the media like they had more players missing than they really did.
It was 2 strong teams going head-to-head. They were better in the first half. We were better in the second half. A draw away to the team many picked to win the league is never a bad result. It certainly think it is a better result for us than it is for them.
28 Oct 2024 11:02:40
The last time I checked, Trent is carrying a minor injury which could be affecting his actual play. Oh, and Martinelli did nothing against him either nor vs Konate for that matter.
Trent kept showing him the outside (like he did vs Sancho who he also shut down) cos Konate was on the cover and nothing happened so those saying "Trent was awful" need to go watch the game again rather than repeat potential pre-concieved talking points.

In the past few years the number of ‘good’ games - entertainment wise at least - amongst the top teams (City, us, Chelsea, Arsenal in particular) have been very few and far between. Some of them have been interesting, like Slot’s set up against Chelsea last week, but it’s only natural that, as they don’t want to lose ground on the other top teams, that sides tend to adopt a ‘don’t lose’ approach to the match.
Again, if games aren’t exciting spectators start to focus on the negative and once we have a negative view it is easy for it to become more and more negative relative to the number of times we watch replays of matches and incidents within matches. We didn’t play well, especially in the first half because Arteta (despite being one of the new pantomime villains) set Arsenal up well. As a result, we didn’t look good, especially the mids, and of course Robbo’s being beaten inside the box by the (very, very) talented Saka. We tweaked our tactics in the second half and ‘won the half’ as it were, and Arsenal didn’t look anywhere near as effective.
In terms of entertainment the Chelsea and Arsenal games have been relatively poor. In terms of staying in the title race we have taken 4 of 6 pts from a coup, e of our closest rivals come next May, which I’m really happy with (even if I wanted. 6 from 6).
The constant weekly witch hunt, Macca, Dom, Robbo in recent weeks, which serves to pass the time until the next increasingly hysterical transfer window really is pathetic. The demand for absolute perfection for everything about the club at all times is moronic - I know my life isn’t perfect and find it incredible that there are so many people gathered together on one forum whose lives are seemingly perfect. A new manager and overhauled back room staff, 13 games, 11 wins, 1 draw, 1 loos. A quarter of the season gone, 1 point behind the PL leaders and 4 points ahead of the team behind us, joint top of the CL qualifying table and all I see each week is we need to replace everything we need about half a dozen new starters over and over again. In my opinion, the club, per se, deserves a lot more support for where we are. I’m sure this will stir the ‘glass half empty’ brigade into action but that’s ok. Funnily enough, each of us could find fault with things that happen at the club, like I say, life isn’t perfect, it’s just that some of us realise it is real life and not a computer game.
Anyway, like I say bring on Brighton and hopefully the team plays to it’s potential and we see an entertaining game with a win.
{Ed025's Note - good post that WDW..

@UltraViolet can you shed some light (geddit ?) on who th top class LCB was that we chose not to sign, please?
