I see Real Madrid and Vinicious Jnr have thrown their toys out of the pram over the Ballon d'Or.
What a classless, soulless club they truly are. No respect for the game what so ever.

Complete idiots - it was a close race but no-one could deny Rodri made a worthy winner, plus how can you claim disrespect when the team, coach and striker all won an award?
Disrespect is not showing up to shake your opponents hand just because you didn’t win in a wide vote of your industry peers.
29 Oct 2024 07:35:48
The irony is Rodri is probably the first player who deserves to win the award in the last decade.
29 Oct 2024 07:58:00
And this is the team TAA supposedly wants to sign for!?
He could end up being hated more than MO, which would be some achievement!
29 Oct 2024 08:25:28
Well done to Rodri some player he is.
I think this could be an eye opener for Trent though who has recently mentioned winning the award.
Dani Carvajal has just come off a season where he has won the domestic league, Champions League (scored in the final) and Euros and had 6 goals and 5 assists and came nowhere near the award and he's a right back.

If the award is what Trent wants, then at least at RM he knows the team will be fully behind him!

Tbf vini is a good player but if he is the best in the world football has really fallen off a cliff. Not a patch on Neymar in his prime for example or Ronaldinho. Rodri isn’t an exciting choice either tbh but his record for city speaks for itself and I think he is truly actually world class in any era so would be my preferred option.

TAA wants to be the first full back to win the Ballon d'Or. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to captain Liverpool or win another CL with Liverpool.
The trouble is, he's more likely to win the Ballon d'Or with Real Madrid than he is with us.
It's unlikely that he'll win it anyway but if it's what he wants to do, I'm ok with it.
Like the Luis Diaz quote, it can be taken out of context. Liverpool FC is not the be all and end all for everyone even if it is for some of us. These players are described as employees and transient but are also criticised if they look at being employed elsewhere. How often does a player go through a bad spell and we look at them as a commodity that we can sell? We've done it with Salah and look at what will happen to Robbo if he has a few bad games.

I'm no city fan but rodri 100% deserves award, outstanding week in week out.

IMO Rodri fully deserved to win the Ballon d'Or. As for Vinicius Junior, yes he is a good player. But I simply don’t rate him as highly as some do.
Regarding Trent. Can his performances improve? Yes. Even so, he is fully entitled to say his ambition is to one day win a Ballon d'Or. How this has been perceived to be a negative to a number of fans is strange. It’s almost as though anything Trent does will be spun into a negative. Shame, considering what he has achieved at the club, the fact he is our vice captain and not to mention is a local lad.

Alonso I'm not trying to use it as a stick to beat Trent with mate.
It doesn't really bother me what he says if I'm honest. i just thought that the Carvajal argument was a good one and he was nowhere near the award and is a right back.
I don't think any player in world football won more or bigger trophies than him last season.

@JK23 Ain’t spoken to in a while mate. Hope you’re keeping well. Been away from the forum due to life stuff but got more free time now, so back more regularly.
My post wasn’t aimed at you btw. Wasn't really aimed at anyone on this forum to be honest. Was in response to the general consensus on social media.

Alonso all good mate hope you are well.
Yes mate appreciate it wasn't aimed at myself but thought I'd jump in on a conversation piece and add substance to my comment.
I avoided any comedy as i know that triggers some on the banter page.

Good to see you back, Alonso.

Spot on, WDW. So happy for Rodri. In his youth, nobody thought he would make it let alone make it as a Balon D'Or winner and like you said for the first time in years, a player who deserved to win the award, actually won the award.
Love Vini BUT the season Rodri has had for club and country over the past 2 seasons is unrivaled, IMO. Even Carvaja was a big shout to win it, as well BUT we know that since Mathias Sammer, it is prohibited for defenders to win the award even tho, they deserve it. Like VVD did in 2019, IMO.
Hats off, Rodri. Bravo to you and Im sure your fam and friends are really proud of you.

For what it’s worth JK23, I appreciate your humour ?
Cheers Rigsby. Hope all is good your side.

In my lifetime there are a number of players I would have loved to have seen play for Liverpool. My top three would be George Best, Franco Baresi and Rodri and they would all have made really good Liverpool teams much better.
As regards Trent, I have to say I agree with @Rigsby and @Alonso, just because he said he wants to win the award doesn’t mean he is either happy or unhappy at Liverpool or that he either wants to leave or stay. I also agree that there is the beginnings of a feeling in social media world that Trent can’t do any or say anything right at the moment. I’d be interested to see how this goes and how, potentially, it could impact the morale and togetherness of the squad as the season progresses.

I am Glad Rodri won it, Its about time the person that deserved it won it not just because they play for Barcelona or Madrid, Wasnt that long ago Virgil should have won it but it went to the Messi one of Barcelona.
