Didn't Amorim feature in Ed01's article on the football top managers going around? If Man UTD get him, perhaps it will finally fall into place.
29 Oct 2024 17:29:34
3 years and he'll fall into managers who didn't live up to their potential.

The only thing likely to ‘fall in place’ are the Old Trafford stands. It’s not about the manager it is the way the club is run from the top down that is the issue.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Amorim supposed to be Liverpool's first choice to replace Klopp, by the new hierarchy/ decision makers. But Amorim was asking for too much control, etc, and we instead turned to Slot?
I believe many were saying Amorim embarrassed himself with his demands and that Liverpool and Chelsea turned away from him as a result.
Might just be me making stuff up, but I swear I remember hearing that.

I’m still praying for Southgate to get the job.

Amorim is probably a very good coach. But Man U are such a basket case that I don't think he'll crack it. Even if he could crack it, I doubt he'll be let do stuff that's needed like, for example, sell most of the overpaid primadonnas at the club at huge losses and replace them with players who actually care.
I'd say a cup and a top 4 will the most he'll get before it goes sour. And in 3 years he'll be out on his backside and the cycle will repeat. I just hope he'll be able to rebuild his reputation afterwards.

Give it 2 years. Na na na na na na na Ruben’s at the wheel AT THE WHEEL Ruben’s at the wheel ??.

Wasn’t it claimed we never even approached either amorim or xabi? Or am I getting it wrong?
29 Oct 2024 19:58:14
I don’t think it was about control, I’m sure a few teams was interested in him but he wanted big money and was playing teams against each other to get to the highest bidder, instead of going to a bigger club and managing them, probably higher paid then Sporting wages he wanted more money instead, I’m glad we didn’t get him and I bet it’s going to cost Man Utd a fortune for this manager, I’m guessing he could well be the highest paid manager in the premier league.
29 Oct 2024 20:11:57
Or we approached both but Amorim’s release price was deemed to be too much and Xabi wanted to stay at his club either due to loyalty / still room to improve at the club / waiting for Carlo to start drawing his pension ….

He sposed to be good coach but Don’t really care, yes we was linked with him don't know the details it never happened but why didn’t the likes of Bayern, Chelsea two massive clubs take a chance? Both seemed desperate ish but chose league 1 managers ( not saying it was wrong choices by them) being a scouser I hope he gets them to 5th in league semi’s in Europa and they bank roll him with billions that he wastes on dross and they finish 11th for ever ( soz mancs)

Ten Hag was supposed to be a good coach too, John.
30 Oct 2024 02:21:13
If only he was Harry Potter eh?
30 Oct 2024 07:14:30
Wasn’t he nailed n to go to West Ham too but that fell through?
Something a bit odd about him. Bad vibes.
30 Oct 2024 09:33:46
I got the impression that he publicly flew into West Ham in the hope that Liverpool would panic and offer him the job - he never intended on going to West Ham.
He has done well but is completely unproven in a big league so if he does come to the Prem it will be interesting to see how it works out. It could be a great appointment or it could be another disaster for them. Only time will tell.

He seems to me to be an excellent coach but he won’t give way on playing three at the back, with one defender pushing up to midfield/ carrying the ball into midfield, an extremely mobile double pivot that covers lots of ground off the ball with flying wingbacks who play very high up the field as wingers expected to sprint up and down the flanks in transitions. Right now United don’t have anywhere near the right amount of personnel to play this effectively, and they also have a midfield with no pace whatsoever, an outstanding talent in Mainoo who is nowhere near as good defensively as he is in the attacking third, and Casemiro/ Fernandes who both can’t run. So in the short run you’d have to expect that it is ‘t going to go well until United shell out another fortune buying the players he needs.
30 Oct 2024 11:19:27
Oh, and Amorim loves to hold a high line. So good luck with that lot of players….
30 Oct 2024 13:40:16
There isn’t a coach in the world who will get that bunch of clowns challenging for anything, anytime soon.
30 Oct 2024 13:58:27
Wait, has Rio Ferdinand endorsed Amorim yet the same way he did with Ole? Cos if he has then, there's the kiss of death right there.
30 Oct 2024 14:46:04
I'm pretty sure you endorsed him daily Oli about 4 months ago when we were linked with him.
