Ed01, your opinion on Omar Marmoush? Have you seen him?

{Ed001's Note - I have actually been checking him out the last few games, he looks decent but not outstanding. I would need to watch a lot more though to get a full idea of him.}

Agree1 Disagree6

Ed01, saw him play vs Bayern and he was really good. Good pace, movemnet and can score goals. That being said, Bayern were a shambles and afforded the Frankfurt attackers so much space to run into that it was open season for goals on both sides with how open the game was and the high line Bayern play. Think the game ended 3-3.

Not sure he will have that much space to run into in the PL but there you go. Prolly start watching him as well cos we are clearly interested in him.

{Ed001's Note - that is the issue, he wasn't so good against Leverkusen, I saw both of those games.}

I have watched Marmoosh at least 30 times from when he was still 21, he has improved a a lot in the last couple of years, he is super quick (even quicker than Peak Salah), has very good work rate, and has a very good shot and finishing. However, his technique/ dribbling/ Flair is very erratic, he chooses to shoot even if the pass if the better option. And his passing is also very hit and miss. When i saw Salah at 20 at Basel i could tell after 5-6 games that he was going to be world class, Marmoosh has the mentality and determination to become even better but i am unsure if he has the potential to reach let's say Saido Mane levels let alone Salah. Time will tell, however he is no Salah replacement whatsoever, he is a 2nd striker or a Left winger so Nunez/ Jota Diaz/ Gakpo replacement type player.

Kudus seems to be a likely purchase from what I'm hearing. Who he'll replace will be interesting.

Ah okay, Ed01. Glad you saw the Bayern game. That's the thing. It's all well and good getting all this space to run into due to the nature of the Bundesliga. We all saw Timo Warner wrecking it in the same situationand we wanted to sign him at LFC too. When he went to Chelsea, he flopped cos there's nowhere to run into like he had at RBL n frankly overall, he simply did not know where the goal is in addition to the other non football issues he had that you touched on back in the day.

Now, I don't know if he's the guy yet so we will see what happens BUT for me and for now, he ain't good enuff and I'd rather give Chiesa the opportuniies and keep Darwin and Jota for now. Marmoush still needs some time to develop even at 25.

{Ed001's Note - Jota needs to stay fit, as does Chiesa.}

01 Nov 2024 19:54:08
Why can’t they stay fit Ed?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - no idea with regard to Chiesa, but I think Jota needs to spend less time playing video games.}

Ed01 if Jota is not getting the correct amount of rest and sleep and is spending that time playing video games then, his body can't fully recover. Hence, he is prone to injury.

Why is there less space to run into in the PL?
Our PL team used to play heavy metal football. Some, like Spurs, play a very high line. United, under Ten Slaps, vacated the middle of the field (the donut) . Others just can't defend.

Can I just say I never wanted and never will want Werner at Liverpool. To quote Dave Bassett again “he couldn’t hit a cow’s ar$e with a banjo.

I’d also say, if Marmoush, or anybody else, is good enough then there will be space for them to exploit.

02 Nov 2024 09:38:15
Correct, WDW.
I was never bothered about signing Werner because I'd never seen him play. And the nowhere to run bit is nonsense, too. I watched him against the PL champions the other night and on at least a couple of occasions he had loads of space to run into.
Of course he scored one and missed one but that is more about Werner rather than English football.
