47 minute football lesson off Brighton worst 45 mins this season. They didn't look right from the first minute. Let's hope we come out with a different attitude with City getting beat as well.

We’ve just played 5 games in 13 days without Ali, Jota, Elliott, Bradley and Chiesa who are all match day squad members. There are other players who didn’t have a pre-season, like Nunez, Robbo and Bradley ( who were injured) .
Four of the games had us playing against teams in the top 6 of the PL when we played them.
We’ve won 4 and drawn 1 of the games and prior to starting the run of games I read a number of posts on here saying this will be our big test. We are top of the PL and joint top of the CL table.
We have players that have needed rotating (like Diaz) and we have players playing with injuries (like TAA apparently) but we still keep turning up and finding ways to win.
We didn’t get a lesson from Brighton - we played them twice in 3 days - home and away - and we beat them both times. We are playing tired and through the pain barrier and we are doing it better, at the moment that our nearest rivals - Arsenal and City.
The volume of games and the stress placed on all clubs, but especially those at the elite level, means we, and the others, aren’t going to play perfect football. It’s not helped, in our case, by the changing of the guard off the field. We’ve played 14, won 12, drawn 1 and lost 1, with the draw and loss being against the 3rd and 4th teams in the PL.
The criticism about poor performances by the team and individual players might have some merit but it needs to be placed in context, which it tends not to be, as far as I can see.

As long as we keep winning, I would say the attitude is spot on, more so after being 1-0 down.

100% agree Irish.
Good post WDW. Was Nunez injured through pre season?
Im pretty sure he just came back from the Copa America late with quite a few of the other international lads.

Jesus WDW are Liverpool as a club immune from criticism? You condemn every opinion and attitude that critiques the club. Context and rose tinted spectacles aside we were woeful first half and I know because I go the games. We’re winning, but we were top for large portions last season and fell off a cliff towards the end, so scepticism is warranted given we’ve won one title in about 35 years.

Meanwhile we are TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
Cheer up iwillbered, maybe you’ll have something to ne happy about soon?

Criticism is fine if it’s balanced.
You can be critical of where we need to improve whilst being happy with our current form. Our results mean there should be more celebration than criticism but it’s just not there.

@JK, Nunez was involved in thevCopa America and didn’t report back until the week before the season started. Sorry I didn’t make that clear in my original post .

@Frode, apologies, It would seem I wasn’t clear in what I was saying. We have started slowly in our last three matches which isn’t good but there are reasons why., which I mentioned, tiredness, injuries, number of games against good opposition in less than a fortnight, adopting new tactics under a new coach. I thought it was balancing what we aren’t doing well, against the context we find ourselves in.

I agree with West Derby Wanderer. It not easy to keep winning despite not being at your best. Pluss, on the balance of play and chances created we have deserved to win 90% of our games this season (15 games played) which is really good already considering the surroundings and the amount of games with injuries to key squad players who would have played a lot more minutes if available.

No need to be sorry even though I know it’s sarcastic.
Apologies for asking a question on a fan forum.

Reading this comical lot one could get the impression that a few fans are almost desperate for the team to lose so they can justify a day of "the end is nigh, I told you so" posting.
Slot is picking up valuable points while learning on the job - it is in short a fantastic achievement to this stage in the season.
If folks don't take any pleasure from that then just maybe football is the wrong sport for them.

No one is above criticism. but liverpool are top of the league and clearly therefore dealing with their issues or imperfections better than the rest.
I have my own reservations about our ability to win the league, but there is also a real possibility that I'm wrong. Fancy that, a fan being wrong.
Comparing last year to this is not ideal, as the circumstances are different. It wasn't the fact we the performances were being hidden by the results, it's the fact we weren't the best team. Overall we finished where we deserved.
So instead of saying we are allowed to criticise (whilst top of league btw), why not qualify it by saying we are over achieving? Unless of course you think we are the best and our performances are not demonstrating this? Then those assertions are legitimate.
Even the greatest team in history had bad performances or god forbid a bad 1st half. It doesn't represent them. It's results that count and despite my personal opinion that we have a lot to work on, I'll just enjoy our position, false or otherwise.

"Slot is picking up valuable points while learning on the job". sums it up perfectly Flash.

A bit OTT by the OP, IMO. WDW is spot on. Yes, we are not playing well BUT there are multiple valid reasons for that. Slot and the team are still working on things and trying to figure things out game by game as that is evident if you are actually watching the games.
The heavy fixture list does not help either as we have to manage the players minutes to keep them fresh while at the same time, trying to improve so that is the reality.
We are winning and that always helps the morale of the team when working on things. It is what it is.
