Let's talk about Caicedo.
I believe if we had got him last season and under Klopp we would have won the league.
Not just from yesterday, but he has been tremendous for Chelsea this calendar year.
Is this the missing piece?
04 Nov 2024 18:12:17
Nah. Money mad. Perfect for chelsea.
04 Nov 2024 18:26:41
Agree fantastic player. No chance we have that kind of money.
04 Nov 2024 18:35:58
Not a chance. He’s doing ok at Chelsea after a rough start but he is not the transformative player you seem to think he is.
He’s a decent midfielder right now, nothing more. There are plenty of players out there that can do what he does. Grav is a much better player in my opinion and can do things that very few can.
04 Nov 2024 19:03:21
Chill Harry, its not Fifa manager mode on easy!
04 Nov 2024 19:18:16
He's out of our price range. That's probably why we never even made a bid for him.
Oh, hang on.
04 Nov 2024 19:28:20
He’s on 150k a week at Chelsea which is about
30k more than we are paying Chiesa.
04 Nov 2024 19:54:44
Ah for the old days when a player was assessed on his playing skills ?.
04 Nov 2024 20:03:01
What a humble man! that's what i know from Interview! Definitely a Liverpool DNA sort of guy.
04 Nov 2024 20:30:41
I agree 100% killer, no doubt in my mind if we hadve got caicedo in for last season we would've won league.
I think he's a magnificent player, thought that at Brighton and he would've been perfect for us.
04 Nov 2024 20:37:48
Fascinating JK23. Remind me again what his transfer fee was compared to Chiesa's.
04 Nov 2024 20:59:40
Google it.
04 Nov 2024 21:22:28
We all know there is more to the cost of a player than wages alone.
Any player who cost over £100m cannot be considered anything but eye-wateringly expensive.
He’s a great player. I prefer Gravenburch on current form.
04 Nov 2024 21:43:43
Agreed Beckers.
04 Nov 2024 21:48:47
His talent is clear. So is his ability to be a fan of several big clubs, all at the same time. Robbie Keane is prolly his mentor in this regard.
Also, Caicedo being signed would not have fixed all the other issues within the team thru out last season lack of clean sheets, a lack of motivation, injuries, Klopp's inability to motivate the players anymore after he announced he was leaving etc.
Not sure Caicedo would have fixed all that but we are free to believe what we like.
04 Nov 2024 21:52:04
Has he been tremendous for Chelsea this calendar year? ?your easily pleased.
04 Nov 2024 22:07:40
Have we forgotten about Pep Lijnders, Klopp should have gone two seasons ago and City's influence on refs when we talk about Caicedo winning us the League?
04 Nov 2024 23:45:11
He had a good game against Man United. Having a good game against relegation candidates really is not a lot to shout about.
04 Nov 2024 23:45:25
Oli, can you tell us about last season's lack of motivation and Klopp's inability to motivate the players anymore after he announced he was leaving, please?
05 Nov 2024 01:25:48
We? City won the league last season, that’s your “we” isn't it?
05 Nov 2024 05:38:23
Lack of motivation? It was the exact opposite in my opinion. We played above our station last year and run through brick walls to get the send off Klopp deserved. Problem was we didn't pace ourselves and completely ran out of juice. That coupled with the United game that knocked us far more then it should left us running on empty.
05 Nov 2024 07:38:25
Klopp announced he was leaving in January and we were top and still in 2 cup competitions and League cup winners at the end of March.
05 Nov 2024 08:32:17
Hey Viktor, are United relegation candidates in the same way that Salah is finished and Gravenberch is crap?
05 Nov 2024 09:57:40
I've watch Chelsea a few times this season and on each occasion I have thought that Lavia looks the much better player of the deep Chelsea midfielders. I agree with @Navy that on current form I would take Grav over Caicedo every time. He's a good player but not worth close to the amount that was paid for him.
05 Nov 2024 11:48:48
WY-red Yes, he couldn't do that anymore, IMO cos it was his announcement that got us and the players really motivated and were winning games and were top from late December to mid April. The Carabao Cup included.
Now as soon as our injured players arrived for some reason, we dropped off cos we could no longer overcome our ability to concede goals anymore cos we lost our mental fortitude to come back from them (cos inherent issues were not fixed all season) even tho, we were creating chance after chance in games.
Hence with the motivation that Klopp's announcement fuelled having run out, he couldn't re-motivate them anymore when we fell into the rut hence, the season kind of petered out. That is not a slight on him in any shape or form so calm down.
The guy is human and allowed to be human which is why I love him exactly the way he is: A flawed human being. You have a diff. take and that's fine and I respect that. I have mine. Peace.
05 Nov 2024 13:31:03
But you have no idea how motivated the players were, Oli.
05 Nov 2024 15:04:14
Enjoyed that thread, thanks all for good and other opinions.
If you think Caicedo average, just remember our club bid well over 100 million for him.
