Any chance Diaz could be new Bobby #9 role? Even had a no look goal.

It's hardly surprising he is great in the air can hold the ball up and is unpredictable for defenders to read, I love that our new manager is willing to try tweaking players positions and making other players better.

It looked a slightly awkward fit at times when he couldn’t hold up play or when he didn’t make runs in behind, but he certainly did it when it mattered and showed the composure any No. 9 would dream of to loft a cheeky lob over Lukas Hradecky and in.

And to think we all signed on the dotted line to shunt him and his dad to Barca.

The lad is playing really well and Slot has allowed a number of players to flourish since his arrival.

On a separate note, a few of my relatives can be (in the old non-pc days) described as wooly backs, living in the cold wastes of Widnes and Warrington so I have an affection for Rugby League. Living in Aus I get to watch top class RL and there is an expression that more than one coach and pundit use from time to time. Basically the expression is that a team ‘has to win the right to play good football’. it occurred to me watching the match tonight and maybe in recent games that - planned or not - it might to apply to us to some extent. Whilst we haven’t been spectacular in the first half of recent games we have never really looked out of control when we up the ante we seem to find the space we need to play good stuff.

I think Diaz brings something different when he plays in the centre since he's more likely to drive at the defence with the ball at his feet, which is different to what Nunez and Jota does. Nunez, I feel, is the most comfortable out of the three to receive the ball with his back to goal and lay it off while Jota is a poacher who needs one touch to put the ball in the back of the net.

In my opinion, even though each have their own weaknesses, it's a good thing that they're so different from one another as it gives us multiple options depending on how our opponents set up.

worked the way Slot had explained he hoped it would. wouldn't expect it very often.

I love watching NRL, WDW.
Who's your team? I'm a Chook, btw.

Exactly, @Faith. It's just one game vs Leverkusen team that was way out of its depth. That doesn't mean it will translate to other games. Im just enjoying the win.

Sadly last night epitomised everything wrong about Darwin Nunez. I don’t think he has game intelligence to adapt to the way we play. He is an instinctive player and not a very good one. His decision making is awful and his finishing is very average.

Yes he brings chaos and yes he chases around like a mad dog and yes he might score occasionally but is that what we expect from a £56m player? (Do we need to be careful as in, is he close to hitting his targets to ensure Benfica get the add-ons? )

@Rigsby, Bunnies for me although my eldest son is a big Chooks fan.

Good stuff, WDW.
Skeletor will sort you out next season ?.

Very interesting man. I love his comment from a few years back. He was talking about RL but also life when he said something along the lines of ‘Discipline is doing the things that need to be done now, when you don’t want to them’.
