Can somebody tell me if we have played anyone decent yet or is our form still down to an easy fixture list?.
06 Nov 2024 00:58:36
I kind of want a bit more of a challenge tbh.
06 Nov 2024 01:00:07
Bobby - when you're top of england and europe, it's pretty hard finding decent opponents :D kidding folks lol.

Macca plays really well on games that aren't as physical and fast as prem. Hmmmmmm.

We need to carry this mentality when we play the Arsenals and City's in PL.
The teams in PL inlcuding us have to be bold and go at City. We can beat them and also others if we believe in first place.
I don't like the attitude of a draw would do at Ethiad and Emirates.
06 Nov 2024 07:00:06
@Bobby, we have been playing all the off form teams, besides that german teams are rubbish in UCL.
06 Nov 2024 08:50:09
@Bobby, We may need to try and get the Brazil 1970 WC team out of retirement cos clearly, we can't find anybody to play these days for the haters to fully judge our ability.

Good one Bobby!
Unfortunately mate there are still people out there that will argue we haven’t played anyone big or in-form yet! ?.
06 Nov 2024 09:39:57
We haven't actually played anyone above us in the PL or CL.

Love it JK23!

Hadn’t Chelsea won their previous 6 games before being beaten at anfield? Hadn’t Brighton just beaten Spurs 3-2 after being 2-0 down before we beat them twice? Hadn’t Leverkusen, by their own admission had their best game of the season against Stuttgart on Friday?
Once again Leek not thinking before he types.
I’m happy to just carry on winning and have all the dullards finding excuses as to why the opposition are the reason.

Can you remember our disastrous and shambolic summer transfer window?
Me neither ?.
06 Nov 2024 13:12:34
Rigsby it’s been a great start no denying that.
Slot is answering a lot of questions as the weeks go by and has been brilliant. There’s still a few to be answered though not just by him but also the other staff above him.
That’s not trying to be negative as I think Slots been brilliant so far.
06 Nov 2024 15:05:58
You're right, JK.
I wanted a couple more signings in the summer and want to keep The Contract 3 but there was nothing disastrous or shambolic about what happened in the summer window.
It'll all flare up again when we lose our form and get injuries and strengthening and renewing the 3 contracts would help but, again, nothing disastrous or shambolic happened in the summer.
Also, it's good that we have sorted out the service to the forwards since Saturday ?.

?? rigsby I agree mate.

Spot on @JK23. I think Slot has taken to the job vert well. I like that one of the first things he said when he arrived was that he needed too assess the players he had and I think that he did / is still doing that and I think that’s part of the reason we didn’t do much in the transfer window. I have to say I’ll be interested what we do in next summer’s window though.
We have done well against the top teams we have faced so far Chelsea, Arsenal and Leverkusen and also in the ‘form goes out the window’ game against United. We’ve also done well against the ‘banana skin’ sides like Brentford, Brighton and Leipzig and perhaps even the newly promoted ‘up for it’ Ipswich away n the first day of the season. All challenges but in slightly different ways. The shock loss at home to Forest, with hindsight is possibly not such a shock given that Forest are massively exceeding expectation so far this season.
Like you say though we still have challenges ahead - City, our bogey team RM and the big ‘form goes out the window’ game with the chaps from across the park. We are also covering our injuries well at the moment with squad players stepping up and doing a job but we have probably just about played a quarter of the games we will end up playing this season so we need luck (like all team) with players remaining healthy.
I also agree that there are questions about the club management hierarchy. It’s hard, in one sense, to know if they are doing a good job because most of the decisions they make and the reasoning for why they made them are (rightly) not in the public domain. Of course we get to see the results of some of the decisions - they hired Slot, to date a very good decision and they decided not ‘go big’ in the last transfer window which wasn’t a universally popular decision but which may have been a bit cannier (or just lucky) than it first seemed given Slot’s motivation of players and handling of their rotation and the results we have achieved. After all, if we’ had been asked the day before the Ipswich match would we take P 16, W 14, D1, L1 I’d certainly have taken it.
