Although salah is absolutely on fire at the moment you only have to look at players over 30, de brunye for example who was absolutely on fire 12-18 months ago to see that it only takes a couple of decent injuries at that age and as I know personally the recovery takes a lot longer and you are unlikely to ever reach the levels previously.
Salahs already on a disgusting weekly wage, I love salah but I love the club more and anything more than a year by year rolling contract based on performance is borderline financial suicide, and that goes for vvd as well, just look at the amount of people who wanted salah sold last season, the very same people now asking for him to be given a 2-3 year extension, I’m pretty certain the club will have been offering a more than fair package, balls is probably firmly in his court.

Salah is a prime specimen of an athlete, much so than de bruyne, he’s in the category of messi Ronaldo…. say what you like about salah, without him we wouldn’t of won anything under klopp seriously…. take his goals away we wouldn’t even of made top 4 in most seasons.

I hope all these contract extensions don't come back to bite like Klopp's announcement during same time last year which brought the wheels down spectacularly.

Why is his current wage disgusting? He has earned the right and many avg players get more than him at other clubs.

If we can't match, he will go but saying he is greedy is not correct.

Again it will be a test of LFC as a club and how it runs with tight budget on player wages at the top end.

When players are given new contracts or sold or released it has absolutely zero financial affect on fans.

We lost some massive earners last season and the cost of match day tickets, merchandise and tv prices still went up and will continue to do so.

If the club are happy to pay their players millions of pounds a year in the hope of success and huge financial rewards then great that's their choice.

At no stage would I ever want my club to sell their best players to save money.

Magico, think that's a bit over the top considering I don't think Salah has scored a goal from open play in a final.

Yes footballs a big businesses but for somebody to be paid in a week what the average person takes roughly 16 years to earn, I’d say is a pretty disgusting amount of money, how much is enough?

26 Nov 2024 14:19:53
Jaydee it is disgusting mate but every single one of our first team players earn more in a week than it takes most fans years to earn so not really sure Mo is out on his own here as the bad guy.

What about the examples of players who continue to perform into their thirties? Looking at one player (KDB) is hardly predictive of what will happen to other players.

26 Nov 2024 15:53:33
KDB has been run into the ground can’t use him as an example of dropping off. All the city players look knackered. We could replace Salah and his replacement may get injured an be out for whole season.

26 Nov 2024 16:26:08
Kdb was awful last season. He only managed 24 goals and assists in 26 games.

I imagine City owners and fans really begrudge what they pay him.

Magico you do realise that if we didn’t have Salah that doesn’t mean we’d be playing with 10 men?

If we’d never signed Salah then someone else would’ve scored more goals. Whether that’s someone who is already at the club or a player we signed instead of Salah.

It’s basic football mate.

Without Salah’s goals the team would’ve adapted to score goals from elsewhere. We haven’t needed to because we’ve got Salah.

So to try to say where we’d be without Salah is ridiculous and means nothing. We’ve had Salah so we’ll never know what we would’ve become without Salah. Perhaps we might even have been better?
