Well city just threw a 3-0 lead. Is anyone else dreading playing them?
There's going to be a team that going to get a spanking after this poor run of results.
I just hope it's not us and the spanking takes place against other top 4 teams.

I don't dread playing any team, I have a backbone.

It will be so difficult to score against a park bus city!

They don’t look like spanking anyone mate. They are still a very good team with very good players but tonight will only serve to put more doubt in their minds.
At 3-0 I was a bit concerned as Haaland had score 2 and they looked like they might wrack up a cricket score and come to Anfield bouncing.
That collapse can only be good for us but we need to put them under pressure and give them nothing and they will fold.
If we give them any encouragement like we did with Southampton they will gain confidence and they could quite conceivably beat us.
The players and fans need to be right at them from the off and we could be in for a routine win.

That city team reminds me of when fabinho and hendos legs went, it's not a blip imo, it's the end of an absolutely brilliant team that won all round them, but age, injuries and miles in the legs catches up with everyone . And the recruitment has been very poor the last 12 months .

I don’t think football is that linear port red so I don’t really think you can compare what happened with us to what’s happening with them.
They still have some brilliant young players and my gut tells me that they will be back. We just need to make sure we are way too far ahead of them when they do.
A win on Sunday will go a long way to achieving that.
We can’t take them lightly just because of their recent form we just need to make sure we are up for it and take advantage of their obvious insecurities.

I think what is most important to remember from their last 6? games is you attack them and they are crumbling every time. We will attack them and I have no doubts about it that we'll get the win.

A surprise defeat for City a couple of seasons ago would have produced a backlash. Five defeats and throwing away a 3 goal lead against a good team in, shall we say, a lesser league is a lot more than a blip. They have defenders out injured, KDB’s legs have gone and Rodri is out for the season. I agree with the opinion that the recent ‘great’ City team has reached its sell by date.

like someone else said earlier, don't dread playing anyone. Not even sure what the reason would be tbh.
another challenge, another game to watch our boys in red.
I just hope we go out there and put in a worthy performance to take all 3 points!

In any case, City don’t get to use the injuries excuse in the same way that other clubs may (not Arsenal) .
Their “blip” is down to Guardiola spending abysmally since the Haaland signing (and before), and not being able to formulate a plan for when City don’t completely outmatch their opposition for player quality. Same thing happened at Barca, and again at Bayern. The exact same thing.
City rarely go on losing streaks of anything longer than two games because they always run into a cowardly manager (Dyche, Moyes etc) that sits back, gets thumped 0-5, and almost resets the league-wide approach to playing them. This time, they’ve played a bunch of teams unafraid to have a go, and finally they are getting what they deserve for it.
We need to beat City to fend off Arsenal more than anything, because the former are going to get a few more thumpings this season.

Did you see the body language of the team when Gvardiol made a mistake to let feyenoord back in the game? It didn't at all look like a team that believed in themselves, shoulders dropped and they seemed resigned to deja vu, what makes you think it's so easy for them to shrug setbacks off so easily? Even Pep looks desperate and forlorn right now. The question right now is does Pep chop and change at the back with Gvardiol looking fragile and low in confidence? if he makes big changes at the back it's a big risk for team chemistry.
Will Pep try to keep it tight hoping not to concede and try to play on the break when it isn't in his DNA to do so? If he leaves us the space he did against spurs or sporting we will run riot with darwin, lucho and mo running the channels and trent coming back.
City look bereft of belief and mentally shot, and they're facing a team brimming with confidence and sniffing blood at home in the loudest stadium around, if we go one up early it will be an explosive atmosphere. Not saying it will be easy and first we have to do a job against Madrid but there's no reason to fear them when they have the odds against them.

Well with our great form, City’s awful form and Thunderbirds backbone, sunday is a forgone conclusion.
27 Nov 2024 07:47:33
De Bruyne will play Sunday and make them a much better team. Will be interesting but they will definitely turn up against us so not a given we will win. If we want to win the league we need to set a marker and beat them imo.

To be fair, I hope that KDB plays from the start, he’ll be out on his feet by half time. More often than not we raise our game against City and if we play the way we’ve played against them for the past few season# we will be quite a handful for them as they are now.
