A whole month of this ridiculous FIFA club wc?!
Hopefully Man City do well ?.

Agree3 Disagree0

I don’t think City are in it mate it’s Real.

City and Chelsea are in the new one that’s taking place at the end of the season.

06 Dec 2024 13:31:13
Opps - misinformed much?! ?
My bad and thx for letting me know!

06 Dec 2024 14:11:58
No worries mate. I think it was the draw today for this new one that happens in the summer.

Looking at some of the teams in it I imagine clubs will use it as a Pre season.

06 Dec 2024 15:54:02
Jurgenator was right, Man City are in it.

06 Dec 2024 17:30:21
In the middle east, africa, south america and asia they view the new Club world cup as the best thing ever! Its crazy how different people view football around the world.

06 Dec 2024 17:56:42
TB someone best tell the city fixture secretary then as they have premier league and CL fixtures every 3 days this month when the club World Cup is happening.

06 Dec 2024 18:01:37
Jk I don't think there is a mid season one anymore, it's been replaced with this and pushed to end of the season. I think it's now once every four years.

06 Dec 2024 18:01:57
JK was right. Real Madrid are in the final, to be played later this month, I think.

06 Dec 2024 18:13:01
Wyred and Rome.

Yeah it’s the last one of the shorter version this month.

Real are straight in the final.

06 Dec 2024 18:43:20
JK, you seem to be confused between the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. The op asked about the FIFA Club World Cup.

06 Dec 2024 19:16:26
Jk, seems that the old format remains, but as the intercontinental cup. Winner of the 6 continent tournaments which will remain yearly.

Then they have the club world cup every four years.

06 Dec 2024 19:25:09
Thunderbird, I thought the OP was referencing this month.

06 Dec 2024 19:44:53
TB I stand corrected. Indeed you are correct.

It’s the first intercontinental cup since 2004

Only the Op can answer this but I guessed he thought City would be away this month as the new tournament is quite a way off.

@Fisk, who are the ‘they’ who think it is the ‘best thing ever’? Genuine question. To me it just seems like another money earner for the people who run the game. It’s just more and more and more games wedged into the calendar. For the elite teams’ players in Europe - take Citeh as an example :

24/ 25 - pre-season friendlies, PL, EFL Cup, FA Cup, international Friendlies, Nations Cup, AFCON. Qualifiers, Copa America, World Cup qualifiers

25/ 26 - world club championship (or whatever it’s called), Pre-season friendlies, PL, EFL Cup, FA Cup, International friendlies, World Cup Qualifiers, AFCON, Copa America, World Cup.

It’s no wonder players lose form and / or get injured so much.

Fans mate, f. eks the Egyptian team el-Ahly has like 100 million supporters and they can't wait for it to kick off, same can be said about the mexican, brazilian, saudi arabian fans etc. I know its a cash grap and i don't care for it but the fans of those teams want to see their teams play the best teams in the world. Too much football is true though.

07 Dec 2024 08:58:01
Fair enough @Fisk. Hopefully the fans enjoy it. Personally, it’s not for me.

07 Dec 2024 09:06:33
WDW i agree and i share the same sentiments. I probably won’t watch a game of it next year but if or when Liverpool get into the competition then I will completely 180, show double standards and watch every game we play in.

Hell If we won it I’d probably go as far as claiming it’s a major trophy and proves we are the best club in the world.

Football fans are very fickle lol.
