Looks like we have rebuffed Madrid's approach to sign TAA in January. Ed001 I hope you are well, I'm new to the site. Do you think Trent will stay with us or move on in your opinion?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea now. If we had actually opened contract negotiations when we should have, well over a year ago, 100% he would have stayed. Now I have no idea if he would even want to after being just ignored and left to sit on it. We have made no effort to make the lad feel wanted, probably because they took it for granted he would sign. It is hard to believe anyone would want to sign after being so disrespected. I know there was a change in administration, so to speak, with new men coming in, but it should have been sorted before the hand over anyway. Then when Ward came in, that should have been his first order of business. Neither happened and now we have a player that is taking abuse online from people for not signing a deal that wasn't even offered. He wanted the captaincy after Virgil, whether offering him that might be enough to sway him, I don't know, but it all feels a bit late and like they were just too busy penny-pinching in the wrong areas.}

If Trent’s heart is in Madrid let him go now and at least get something for him.

31 Dec 2024 17:52:22
Absolutely no chance he hasn’t had contract offer on table for ages no chance.
All I’ve heard on this site is he wants to stay but tell his face that for last 18 months as he’s actually starting to look like Bellingham.
He has pre mediated this move 100% as Madrid would not be paying £100m for him if not on free.
Take what we can from them now as we don’t need any rot in this team atm.

{Ed001's Note - he has not had a contract offer on the table for ages. You lot are so desperate to turn on your own it is pathetic.}

31 Dec 2024 18:00:44
Well you have been telling us he wants to stay for ages but now you don’t know!
So can ask you how you know he hasn’t had deal on table for ages?

{Ed001's Note - yes, I said he wanted to stay initially. Now, I no longer know as the situation might have changed after being left to hang.

Because they never offered him one, which is what led to this situation. Him, VIrgil and Mo were all in the same boat.}

Thank you for your detailed reply Ed much appreciated. Have we even started negotiating a new contract with him? I really hope he doesn’t leave us. I know all players are replaceable but he is one of our best I would be gutted.

{Ed001's Note - negotiations have begun with all three.}

31 Dec 2024 18:03:23
I must admit, said it before and will say it again - if I'm Trent I'd already be packed counting down the days til I'm off. The amount of disrespect that's gone his way over the past few months from both the club and tons of 'fans' is nothing short of disgusting. If he does leave then good luck to the lad, he deserves better. A loyal lad to Liverpool all the way through yet the club drags it's heels giving him a contract and the fans turn on him? how is it his fault? shocking!

31 Dec 2024 18:04:17
Anyway happy new year to you Ed and all reds and let’s hope it’s all bull and he’s signed up.

{Ed001's Note - nothing has been signed yet. But clearly the club have not given up hope yet, so fingers crossed.}

31 Dec 2024 17:54:19
If he goes then heads must roll. Everyone involved in the contracts.

31 Dec 2024 18:07:51
Thank you for replying Ed I just hope we haven’t left it to late and he signs soon.

{Ed001's Note - all we can do is hope, I guess.}

31 Dec 2024 18:36:14
You say that Salah but if it were me i would say"f#@k you im not letting you force me out of my club". it would not be an excuse for me to leave it would make me more determined to stay, with more wages squeezed out of the p#! @ks for having the cheek in the 1st place.

31 Dec 2024 18:37:03
Whoever's responsible at the club needs their role re-evaluated imo.

Absolutely criminal to have a player in his peak years enter the last six months of their deal without any serious attempt already made to get him to sign a new one.

31 Dec 2024 18:41:48
It's possibly a good thing ed1 that madrid have made a bid, I think all parties need an answer 1 way r another. If trent wants to go to madrid I think I would take an offer in January as I can see this situation getting toxic v soon and become a bigger distraction and a bigger problem than it would be to try and replace him. I know with us being in such a good position and selling 1 of our best players is not what we want to do.

{Ed001's Note - there is no one like him.}

31 Dec 2024 18:44:16
No one can say that TAA would 100% would have stayed. Because no one knew what was in the contract offers.

Ed001 doesn't know whether he has been offered a contract or what was in it.
Why would he? TAA has said it will be done privately so why do people think the Eds will have any more any idea than we do?

{Ed001's Note - Trent is not the only person involved Rigsby. There are a lot of people involved in drawing up a contract.}

31 Dec 2024 18:58:59
Not just player at his peak years but also the best players-in Europe atm mo an virg.

31 Dec 2024 19:20:21
Unless it's a financial issue, I don't see why the three haven't been sorted by now! Trouble is, I've seen too much cr*p from various so called fans, you wouldn't put it past Trent especially to think of his options! Happy New Year to all the Eds, just hope for good news in the days, weeks to come.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Keith, HNY mate.}

Imagine Trent moves to Real and then states the reason he did move was because on 12th October 2024 a poster called Walter said he wasn’t very good ??.

31 Dec 2024 23:50:27
Facts jk23. I think Trent goes and I couldn't care less. If he stays I think it's going to cause chaos in the squad regarding future contracts.
I think the club wants to promote Bradley to 1st team permanently Nd have their eye on a young back up.

Groundhog Day.

There was a terrible vacuum at the club after Edwards and Ward left, and it was then impossible to deal with contracts after Klopp said he was off - no top class player could routinely sign a new contract until they knew what the new manager would be like.

So, it’s a catalogue of corporate errors that have led us to this point - not an unwillingness on either side to cut a deal, just that Trent rightly didn’t want to cut a deal until he knew what Slot was like.
I feel that the right corporate structure is now in place, but too late to keep Trent. No one is to blame - it’s just evolved in the wrong way.
