Salah is off it seems. Sadly but hope the king wins us one final battle.
03 Jan 2025 17:11:51
Are you just saying that because he said the same thing in his most recent interview that he said a couple of months ago? He might well leave, but I'd hardly say this interview is drawing a line under it because it is one he has repeated several times already.
03 Jan 2025 17:39:45
Done by Sky Sports' clickbait headline?
03 Jan 2025 17:51:10
The only thing I see in that interview is 1. He's more passionate then anybody and 2. He knows full well what he's worth. Give that man what he wants.
All three are in positions where they can request what they want, they are that good. If they want more money is that such a bad thing? welcome to football these days it's all about money, we have to get used to it, they'll either get it here or elsewhere and if its's elsewhere then god help us.
People say we always move on from X player which is true, no player is bigger than the club - also true but these kind of players we can't just click our fingers and replace them. We will suffer without them. Give them what they want.
03 Jan 2025 17:51:17
These interview doesn’t help. He is using fans and their emotions to put pressure on the board for a contract extension. Why can’t he shut up and focus on the game instead.
{Ed001's Note - have you not seen the abuse Trent is getting for shutting up and focusing on the game instead? These players can't win.}
03 Jan 2025 17:57:07
He'll still be with us next season.
You have my word ?.
03 Jan 2025 17:58:03
I agree they can't win. the players shouldn't have been put in this position. should have atleast gotten 1 signed before january . i mean what is going on. the players being put in positions to get abuse when they have all apparantly wanted to extend for a long time. its just such a stupid handling of the situation in all aspects.
03 Jan 2025 18:00:25
Ed is right, damned if they do, damned if they don't. Personally I'd rather they behave like Trent and Virgil because I think that is the more professional thing to do but ironically it quite often seems to be the one that gets some members of the fan base even more riled up.
03 Jan 2025 18:04:11
How can anyone say 'give them what they want' if they don't know what they want?
Just let them get on with the contract stuff. We don't know what is going on.
03 Jan 2025 18:06:51
In Trent’s case he said nothing on TV. Real came in with a bid which triggered the fans. Salah has been spouting about his future every week. This is getting ridiculous and embarrassing. He wants money and is using the fans now to turn against the board.
03 Jan 2025 18:20:17
How about not abusing the players or the board (those doing the negotiations)?
All parties will do what they think is best for themselves.
Fans that have differing views won't be much of a consideration to them.
They can't keep everyone happy so some of you need to get over it.
03 Jan 2025 18:33:23
As usual in life everything is about money, he leaves for free and bigger money, we lose big money from transfer fee.
03 Jan 2025 18:42:19
If it was all about money we wouldn't have rejected that £150m bid for Salah.
03 Jan 2025 18:53:54
Bit of info from Akira on the rumours page. Sounds like VVD is the only one with a realistic possibility of staying maybe.
03 Jan 2025 19:11:19
The long term financial sustainability of the cloud has to take precedence over a deal for any individual.
03 Jan 2025 19:55:35
I’m starting to think the club are playing hard on their stance and aren’t budging with the players demands.
Equally Salah’s camp seem to be equally unwilling to relent.
Instead of a negotiation, this is feeling more like a stalemate.
Who’s going to blink first? It feels to me like neither are going to blink, which will end in a handshake and a send off in the summer.
Remember with Mane and Salah before when mane left, do you think by mane agreeing to go we had enough money leftover to re-sign Salah last time? Possibly.
This could play the same way, where if one player agrees to go, maybe the club can afford to pay the other two a bit more and reach an agreement.
Just my opinion but it feels like the club aren’t willing to commit to the wage demands of all 3 players (a massive salary commitment! ) . I think one agreeing to go, might allow the re-signing of the other two.
I’d love to keep all 3 of course, just starting to feel less likely.
03 Jan 2025 22:37:32
Perhaps it’s a case of a contract at the right price for the right player in the club’s eyes? Who knows. The club aren’t saying anything. Trent isn’t saying anything and the comments by VVD and latterly mostly from Mo seem to suggest that the parties are a way off in their assessment of what’s realistic.
As Ed01 says above, not saying anything gets you vilified and equally providing an insight (as provided by Mo) also gets you vilified.
What’s absent so far is - apart from Mac’s and AS stirring things up - nobody seems to be making efforts to sign the players in the transfer window. I’d discount the PSG offer as a rumour rather than anything real.
03 Jan 2025 22:56:07
The sad thing is we'll probably smash United all over Anfield on Sunday and there'll barely be a peep on here about it. As soon as the game is over most fans will take to their phones/ keyboards to post about what's important to them - basically gossip. Unless we don't win of course, then the usual suspects will want the squad replacing.
I don't get it myself, the game itself is everything to me and everything else is but a sideshow.
This team under Slot is breaking new records nearly every week, and many seem unaware, or just blatantly dismissive of what's evolving before their very eyes on a weekly basis.
Modern football fans seem to prefer the soap opera surrounding the game, something I can never quite get to grips with.
03 Jan 2025 19:34:44
OP, what are you talking about?
03 Jan 2025 19:39:40
Kind of think the important bits are not so much the things that are said but the unsaid bits, context and what’s implied. Salah said it was his last year, as he has said in other interviews. But the common theme is that it’s clear in how he’s talking that he wants to stay. Personally think he’s using it to pressure the owners. I think the difference with Arnold is that, by all accounts, his brother has given Madrid them encouragement to make a bid this month. I think Ed mentioned that we’d paid for him to do the “training” to become a “qualified” football agent (I’m using quotation marks as it’s hardly a noble profession, they’re somewhere down there with traffic wardens, estate agents and cockroaches) which feels like a bit of an own goal right now as he’s turned into a Saif Ruby/ Ady Ward. I personally still think Salah and Van Dijk stay, but I feel that Arnold has had his head turned by Madrid and the money he’ll get.
03 Jan 2025 23:18:57
The club won’t / can’t pay what the 3 players want and according to Mo they are nowhere near / far away so unless a side moves all 3 will leave and this will go on until the end of the season.
04 Jan 2025 02:44:11
@WarMachine - genuine question as I haven’t seen the interview / comments - did Mo mention money? I thought that his focus was on length of contract.
04 Jan 2025 08:58:15
Correct me if I’m wrong WDW3 but doesn’t length of contract impact total pay for the contract.
04 Jan 2025 15:53:50
WarMachine, that is you making 2 and 2 be 22. Salah never mentioned money or anything remotely related to that. Salah said, "We are still far away. So yes, we wait and see". Where in there is the word "money/ length of contract" mentioned there?
It is this type of inuendo and 2 +2 = 22 crap that is causing and fueling this circus of garbage we are all being afflicted on a daily basis. Cringe as heck.
04 Jan 2025 21:48:14
Clueless as usual OliRed.
