Forest will rip us a new one if we don't improve on the last two games. They were all bad but Jones i just don't see it. What does he offer?
08 Jan 2025 22:14:21
Jack rubbish.
08 Jan 2025 22:15:33
I worry for the Forrest game as well Endo.
08 Jan 2025 22:20:47
Curtis Jones is poo, pass it on. Has one or two good games then vanishes. Szoboszlai is a huge miss. Gives us so much energy in midfield.
08 Jan 2025 22:25:36
The squad as a whole looks tired and compounded by injuries. The midfield is a weak link as a whole when we come up against aggressive teams: Fulham, Newcastle, Utd, Forest and Spurs tonight. We were top after 27 games last season, I’ll be amazed if we maintain that position until then….
[Awaits rose tinted Reds who will say everything is fine].
08 Jan 2025 22:31:01
Really concerned against forest, they are perfectly suited to play us. Sit deep, let the field compress, quickly break and then clinical. whilst we're just constantly fire the ball into the packed box.
Our defence and midfield look completely shaken.
08 Jan 2025 22:33:12
YNWA Curtis. Never mind them "supporters"
Cheers.
08 Jan 2025 22:33:41
It’s a good job that the rest of the Prem and CL are at Championship level.
08 Jan 2025 22:36:00
Nice wokeism spin on my reply lol.
08 Jan 2025 22:56:14
Endo3 if you don't know what Jones offers despite being in the first team for 5 seasons now then, that's on you.
As for the game itself, it seemed both teams were trying not to lose hence, the game was pettering out to a 0-0 until the ref handed them a goal. We didn't do enuff to win it and neither did Spurs.
Relax. We have them back at Anfield with a goal down. As for Forrest, you are free to watch the game hiding behind the sofa if you are as terrified as you sound.
08 Jan 2025 23:18:54
I wasn't surprised by Jones tonight. He's an average squad of player, no more no less. I'll say the same about Elliott, too.
My biggest concern about them both is what their position is? They're neither a midfielder nor a forward. Don't get me wrong, they can both do a job for us but they are not top level PL players. They will never be the type of player that must start in the big games.
Sadly, I can see Szob going the same way. Is a he a midfielder or a forward? I'm not sure. In his case though, he's has less chances to make a position his own and he has great athleticism.
08 Jan 2025 23:14:06
We'll beat Forest, no doubt in my mind.
08 Jan 2025 23:45:34
Jones has not been in the first team for five years!
You can say that about Alisson, TAA, van Dijk, Robbo and Salah but not Curtis Jones.
What stands out to me is that we are worried about Forest. Forest with an extra 'r' nonetheless.
We'd have all been delighted with that at the start of the season.
Being clear of City and Arsenal in both leagues and in a better position than both of them in the EFL Cup, come on!
We've had a couple of bad games but look at the bigger picture.
We could well fall away in the second half of the season but it hasn't happened yet.
Chins up, Redmen!
08 Jan 2025 23:57:38
That's the spirit, Stone.
09 Jan 2025 01:22:11
We are missing the running that Szoboszlai does.
09 Jan 2025 02:09:45
Yeah we'll do Forest, bring them on. I think it'll be a close game but we'll get the win, their form won't continue I don't think but then the same can be said about us so who really knows. I'll go with a win for us though.
09 Jan 2025 04:59:07
Hang on, I thought Szob needed selling and Jones was the fulcrum of midfield? Or was that last week? Why not support the team through the season and make noises to get rid of the poor ones in the summer? If we had done that we could have had shiny replacements for Grav, Salah and Konate by now.
09 Jan 2025 05:24:18
In the first team for 5 seasons with only 102 premier League appearances? Some people might fall for your nonsense but I won't.
09 Jan 2025 07:52:28
We haven’t played well in our last 3 or 4 games and the loss has been coming. Hopefully we can reset before the Forest game. It’s not a surprise that there is so much negativity, I think the perceived lack of signings and the pantomime contract season has had a number of people waiting to ‘let fly’ when we lost. It’ll be very interesting to see the Forest match. A win would be a big boost, a loss and the signings / contracts not having changed will be a bit too much for the naturally pessimistic amongst us.
09 Jan 2025 08:01:57
On form you have to say forest are in a better position right now.
09 Jan 2025 08:30:17
It's when things aren't plain sailing you find out who your supporters are.
Some are fans of football, some are fans of the club. Quite a few are just fans of winning, and when the winning stops the whining begins.
If not winning every game in style bends you out of shape or boils your piss, football probably isn't the sport for you.
09 Jan 2025 09:23:44
"Quite a few are just fans of winning, and when the winning stops the whining begins. "
Sadly, that is the way ffootball supporting has gone now. Everuything is great provided the club do what I want and we win. The moment that stops, the fangs come out. And this is not within only the LFC fan base.
09 Jan 2025 09:28:53
Rigsby, Curtis Jones made his debut for LFC in the 19/ 20 season and has a PL winners medal so your math ain't mathing.
Also, all the players you mentioned have been in the first team way longer than that so again, your math ain't mathing.
@Endo, yes CJ has 102 PL appearances due mainly to injuries and selection choices by the manager. Once again if you don't see what that kid brings after he made the first first team in the 19/ 20 season (currently in his 5th season) to the team then you have been watching him play with your eyes wide shut or you preconceived notions.
That's YOUR problem and nobody else's.
09 Jan 2025 12:15:57
Oli, we'll have to disagree about what being in the first team for five years means then.
If playing some first team games for five years is what you mean, that's on you.
The players I mentioned play almost every first team game when they are available. Curtis Jones doesn't.
