MK Scouser has written an article entitled, Liverpool Player Ratings v Spurs

Cheers MK. Can't argue with much of that at all, though Ed01 would regards to Mac Allister. I'm with you regards to him, though it's all about opinion.
I hope this blip doesn't turn into a slump, and we couldn't be playing Forest at a worse possible time. Definitely need Szoboszlai back ASAP, and Jones needs taking out. I'm cutting Konate some slack as he's just coming back from injury. We definitely need a pre injury Konate.

@mk doing some great work. Many thanks and hope your articles continue.

@rome I think there's going to be some very upset fans in the near future. I still believe 3rd is our destination in league position.
Would be nice to get a trophy from the 3 still available. Champions league trophy is my thoughts.

Nice one, MK.
I thought Bradley and Tsimikas grew into the game after a shaky start. Tsimikas deliveries into the box were wicked too. They both deserve more starts now they are fit.
Gravy looks tired. The concern we have now is that we are into unknown territory with his availability. Can he deliver the performances of the first half of the season again in the second? We just don't know yet.
Gakpo and Salah were very poor imo. Their touch and decision making was way off. Jota didn't really do anything of note apart from a little double nutmeg dribble in the middle of the pitch. We looked more of a goal threat when the directness of Lucho and Darwin came on.
Curtis Jones form has dropped off a cliff. Really poor in the last two games, on and off the ball.
Endo was brilliant at CB.
While history points to a typical January-March slump in form, I hope the performance staff are on top of it. We cannot afford to take this form into Forest and Brentford away games as we'll have our backsides handed to us.

Cheers Mk much appreciated.
I struggled to watch the game last night due to a family commitment and i was back and forth the tv and trying to follow the live chat (which was as great as ever) .
From what i watched it is a worry and although lots are pointing to Jota gaming, Grav being tired, Endo not playing etc it feels a little deja vu to how we've been after Christmas over quite a few seasons in recent times.
I think we hold the Premier League record of being top at Christmas and not winning it.
I really hope this is a minor blip and we get back to winning ways next tuesday (Sat should be a game for players that need minutes)

Midfield usually dictates if we have a good game or not and Jones and MacAllister are just not physical enough to be picked in the same team. Szoboszlai has been a big miss thr last two games but I wish against strong midfields Slot would use Endo more alongside Gravenberch and one of MacAllister/ Jones/ Elliot.
{Ed025's Note - some good news guys...Curtis Jones has been found, he went missing for nearly 100 minutes yesterday but is now safe.. :)

Good review MK. Can’t disagree with any of that. Fair reflection of the game. Agree that we need additions to the squad this window, but just can’t see it happening I’m afraid.

JK23 - exactly that concern. The performance team have enough historic data on this with these players, so hopefully they are proactive with it.
I do think the intensity of Christmas fixtures followed by the PL schedule being broken up by domestic cup fixtures plays a part in disrupting the rhythm of the first team every year.
On the plus side, we have almost a fully available squad of players. This is a much better situation that previous season. We just need to use the squad to rediscover some intensity.

Thanks for that MK, great review.

If I can at least try and put a positive spin on things. The difference between where we are this season, compared to last, is Man City are no where near what they were and Arsenal aren't as consistent either. I know people are saying City will go on a run, I personally can't see it. At the end of the day the only 2 sides they've beaten, coming out of their slump, is Leicester and West Ham. I hope this isn't just wishful thinking on my part, but I believe that City and Arsenal will continue to drop points, as will we. I just hope that the points we have in the bag will be enough to get us over the line. We will never have a better chance of topping it than this season, as we all expect City to be a different beast next season. The thought of us blowing it now, doesn't bare thinking about.

That's how I feel, Rome.
Being worried about Forest is not a bad position to be in. If someone could guarantee that Forest would finish second in the PL, I would take it.
I'm fully aware that we could fall right away in the second half of the season but there's nothing I can do about it and we don't do it very often anyway.
It's sport and that's why I love it.

It’s starting to feel like Deja vu…. we’ve been in this position several times over the years and never bought when on top and players need a rest…. negative or not I see it happening again. No wonder jurgen had enough. Complete mess on all 3 contracts, if they all walked away I wouldn’t blame them.
09 Jan 2025 12:57:03
This midfield doesn’t click with Curtis Jones. I think we need to either start trying Endo/ Harvey etc or if Slot doesn’t trust them, look to the market.
09 Jan 2025 13:14:48
Why are people worried about Forest?
Those fans surely can’t see the woods through the trees.
09 Jan 2025 13:20:39
Get your coat, JK!
09 Jan 2025 13:34:02
The Chris Wood through the trees?

All pretty much of a muchness. It's not tactics or positions or anything like that purely effort in my opinion, likely down to tiredness and rustiness. Out previously solid defence was based on immediately adopting a low block when losing the ball in the transition from the centre. Titus Bramble could have scored with the amount of space afforded to Spurs midfielders not being tracked when they scored yesterday and it's been like that for a few weeks now. Need to go back to basics again and if we do we'll turn them around at Anfield.
